No shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service....just that simple

When you put it that way for people like me it brings back memories of "whites only " signs. So people who can't wear a mask for medical reasons are to be outcasts of society because of their medical condition?

Also, you say we must slow the spread by wearing a mask, thus admitting that just wearing a mask won't eradicate the virus. Are you suggesting we must wear a mask indefinitely.

Just until an effective vaccine is produced....which should be real soon, according to the Donald.  And I specifically said people with a medical condition preventing mask wearing are to be expected....One should no live in fear of being an "outcast" because of an underlying condition.

And I don't presume to know where you shop, but "no shoes, no shirt, no service" is still very much alive in this country....has nothing to do with "whites only".....it's a hygiene issue.

One thing you did not mention Floridian, is that the USA is made up of 50 individual states. They have a say in what rules apply in their states. The countries you mention do not have that issue. They are run by a central government( kind of like how we will be governed if ole Joe wins) and can shut everything down in a moments notice. Just saying.

I know what you're sayin', but Geez, Trump ought to be able to do SOMETHING no?  He is the President of the entire country, isn't he?

It just looks like he's only concerned with 2 things - the economy, and bragging how great he is.  I have to say, I really didn't mind the bragging at all when things were going good, but now that everything has gone to "hell in a hand-basket", the constant bragging is driving me nuts.

Street masks don't stop the virus. Medical masks stop the virus. T-shirt masks or bandanas or homemade  masks don't.

Face coverings also cause other issues in a normal healthy persons.

And yet how do we tell the difference from "healthy" person and an "asymptomatic" covid-19 carrier.....People who are feeling fine are probably not going to be tested.

You said, "no shoes, no shirt, NO MASK, no service ". People won't make the distinction between medical condition and or civil disobedience.

But hey, according to CNN it appears that the political tides are changing again on the Covid19 virus.

Here ya go.......

WHO stands by recommendation to not wear masks if you are not sick or not caring for someone who is sick

(CNN)World Health Organization officials Monday said they still recommend people not wear face masks unless they are sick with Covid-19 or caring for someone who is sick.

"There is no specific evidence to suggest that the wearing of masks by the mass population has any potential benefit. In fact, there's some evidence to suggest the opposite in the misuse of wearing a mask properly or fitting it properly," Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO health emergencies program, said at a media briefing in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday.

"There also is the issue that we have a massive global shortage," Ryan said about masks and other medical supplies. "Right now the people most at risk from this virus are frontline health workers who are exposed to the virus every second of every day. The thought of them not having masks is horrific".

Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, an infectious disease epidemiologist with the WHO, also said at Monday's briefing that it is important "we prioritize the use of masks for those who need it most," which would be frontline health care workers.

"In the community, we do not recommend the use of wearing masks unless you yourself are sick and as a measure to prevent onward spread from you if you are ill," Van Kerkhove said.

"The masks that we recommend are for people who are at home and who are sick and for those individuals who are caring for those people who are home that are sick," she said.

World Health Organization officials warned at a media briefing last week that globally there is a "significant shortage" of medical supplies, including personal protective gear or PPE, for doctors.

"We need to be clear," Van Kerkhove said last week. "The world is facing a significant shortage of PPE for our frontline workers -- including masks and gloves and gowns and face shields -- and protecting our health care workers must be the top priority for use of this PPE

Until they come up with a fool proof test, they are farting in the wind. Drs have sent in unused virus tests and get positive results back.

I won't take a vaccine even if they come up with one. I don't trust them, with the track record they have with the poisons they stick in other vaccines.

"civil disobedience" has no place in a private business....the exact place you would find such a sign as "no shoes, no shirt, NO MASK, no service".

It's the same reason that place in Texas doesn't allow mask wearers to enter their establishment....they make the rules.

And what do you think about the CNN story I posted?

That story is from March (or almost 130K American deaths ago) and it goes right along with the tweets you posted.  It's been reported that the White House is actively trying to attack Dr. Fauci's credibility because he has the nation's best interest at heart, rather than Donald's fragile ego.....By all means though, keep doing what you're doing....that's exactly what the Trump campaign wants from you.

Why are you always combative? It's irrelevant when the story was published or how many deaths have "reportedly "  been since then. The Science of the use of face mask doesn't change because of events. Science is a constant, it is what it is. No politics  can change Scientific facts.

Not being combative, just seems odd you would bring an article from March instead of something current.  As with any new virus, the situation is fluid....as more knowledge is gleaned daily by the professionals...the only constant has been the Donald and his dismissal of the virus as harmless.  And if science were truly constant, we'd already have a vaccine.

U.S.

The President Is Trading Dr. Fauci for the Ex-Host of 'Love Connection'

From Esquire

The experts have gotten things wrong. American public-health officials, including the surgeon general, once loudly told us all not to bother wearing masks. It now seems this was a Noble Lie, where they sought to reserve limited supplies for frontline healthcare workers, but why not just be honest about that and tell people to make their own face coverings at home? Yes, the mask culture war is a shitshow now, but back then the whole country had mobilized in the collective sacrifice of lockdown. The experts long emphasized hand-washing, believing the novel coronavirus spread widely on surfaces, and while we should all keep up the soap, it now looks like that kind of surface spread isn't a major threat. This is the cost of doing business during a rapidly evolving global emergency, one where we did not know—and could not know—much about the virus when it first came on the scene. Perhaps the experts' biggest failure was not emphasizing how provisional the advice was.

Still, it's hard to see any source of hope outside the community of experts, as the pandemic once again spirals out of control in the United States. The way out certainly will not be found in our political leadership. The president spent this morning sharing the public-health stylings of Chuck Woolery, the former host of Love Connection, who logged on to spout off some conspiratorial nonsense. Apparently, the president couldn't have said it better himself. So he retweeted it to his 83 million followers.

The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid 19. Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most , [sic] that we are told to trust. I think it's all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I'm sick of it.

Attacking doctors during a pandemic is certainly a novel approach. So is attempting to destroy the face of your public-health apparatus, but that's what Trump and his craven apparatchiks are up to, according to the New York Times.

President Trump’s advisers undercut the nation’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, over the weekend, anonymously providing details to various news outlets about statements he had made early in the coronavirus outbreak that they said were inaccurate. ...

The list of statements, laid out in the style of a campaign’s opposition research document, was later released to several news outlets. It was an extraordinary move for the White House to provide news organizations with such a document about a health official who works for the administration and retains a high level of public trust.

Again, Fauci has gotten things wrong. He participated in the Noble Lie around mask-wearing. But did they also resort to deception and ratfucking? What do you think?

For example, White House officials pointed to a statement by Dr. Fauci in a Feb. 29 interview that “at this moment, there is no need to change anything that you’re doing on a day-by-day basis.” But they omitted a warning he delivered right after.

“Right now the risk is still low, but this could change,” he said in the interview, conducted by NBC News. “When you start to see community spread, this could change and force you to become much more attentive to doing things that would protect you from spread.”

In the same interview, Dr. Fauci also warned that the coronavirus could become “a major outbreak.”

At present, as the Times mentions, it doesn't seem like particularly good politics to attack Fauci. He's got the trust of 67 percent of Americans when it comes to information about the pandemic, according to a Siena College poll, while Trump is at a disturbingly high 26 percent. But you've also got to factor in that if the great hulking disinformation machine gets going on the American right—if Trump fully positions Fauci as an Enemy of the People, which is to say, an enemy of Trump—then the percentage of Republicans who despise Fauci will spike like the case numbers coming out of Florida. It won't be long after that before a lifelong civil servant is recast as a globalist Soros plant, cleverly installed in the National Institutes of Health back in 1968 just so he could bring down Mr. Trump today.

For people who retain at least one foot in the real world, however, it should be clearer than ever that the president intends to try to lie the pandemic away. Don't Believe Your Eyes and Ears, adapted for plague times. It seems hard to believe that a majority of Americans—or even the minority Trump needs to win re-election in our stupid-ass system—will choose to ignore people dying around them five months into this, when other countries have their outbreaks under control while the United States has a quarter of the world's deaths spread across just four percent of its population. But it seems anything is possible in a country as Exceptional as this one. Having allowed other countries run by authoritarian strongmen to briefly overtake us in the COVID stakes, we have swiftly surged back in front.

And this is a glimpse of our future over the next few months. Here's another public-health bulletin from Mr. Love Connection.

There is so much evidence, yes scientific evidence, that schools should open this fall. It's worldwide and it's overwhelming. BUT NO.

Does he link to this voluminous evidence? Cite a source? Of course not. This message is not for people who are interested in verifying whether this information comports with reality. They don't believe in that, because they long ago pledged themselves to a man and a movement that rejects the concept. Facts are whatever you can get enough people to believe. The contours of reality can be bent to your preferences. Your staffers can tell reporters—anonymously, of course!—that the re-election strategy is to get Americans to accept thousands and thousands more of their fellow citizens dying. Well, that and stopping enough Americans from voting on the suspicion they might vote the wrong way.

And so the president will get his lackey, the governor of Florida, to reopen the state's schools in August even as it becomes one of the world's epicenters. Trump has no intention of actually combatting the virus—reducing infections, limiting hospitalizations and deaths. His intent is to Return to Normal at any cost, which he belatedly realized involves getting kids back in school so their parents aren't homeschooling them between work Zooms. Except none of this stuff can actually happen while the house is on fire, which it very much is, despite the president's morning pronouncements that we're all enjoying the niceties of a floor-to-ceiling wraparound fireplace. If we as a nation do not, in this moment, realize that the presidency is a job requiring particular skills and expertise, not a protagonist in this bizarro reverse-Truman Show in which we've all been cast, then we will deserve whatever comes after.

Thats the point science isn't consistent. Well other than being unwilling to kill off a multi billion dollar Aids Treatment industry. They haven't delivered a Aids vaccine in over 40 years . How can we develope a vaccine then in less than a year ? Unless China already had a vaccine , prior to their release of this bio-weapon upon the world.

Besides if wearing a mask really prevented the spread of covid, or any other viral infection , then why don't we all wear mask and be cured?  No need for theraputics or billion dollar vaccines .

Masks don’t stop the spread of covid but it greatly reduces it. So it’s a great question. Why don’t we all wear masks?

For the fact that anything other than a N95 mask WILL NOT FILTER OUT A VIRUS BECAUSE THEIR SIZE IS SO SMALL THEY MIGRATE THROUGH THE WEAVE .
