The largest "bank heist" occurred in Iraq in 2003 , After Husseins statue was toppled ,US troops cleared all the gold out of Iraqi banks and elsewhere . There are photographs of US troops sitting on stacks of gold being loaded into semis. Estimates of this gold is in the trillions , and I do believe that the US still has it ,under the Defence fund or maybe the development of Iraq . This huge batch of gold was loaded into aircraft and whisked away to a super secret location . It's not in Fort Knox .

It would be interesting to find out more about this cashe of gold and what the US plans for it are.  I wont be surprised if its been appropriated for the cost of war.  That said, there has been no reduction in the national debt regarding the cost of war in Iraq.  Wonder what has happened to this asset that rightfully belongs to the Iraqi people.  Worth the while to do a little digging.

Thanks Dinarham.

There is the cost of the war to be paid by Iraq to the USA and also funds that we pledged in the Stratagic Framework Agreement to assist in the rebuilding of Iraq . Due to the corruption in Iraq , it is hard to believe that we would turn these funds over to them in a big lump . Someone posted pictures of said semis on this site several years ago . The gold was not taken to Fort Knox , which is a relatively antiquated site . Also ,the amount of gold stored at Fort Knox has not changed since WW2

That was a fun search: I gather the gold was already stolen, before 'found' by US troops.

There was even a load of gold found in an Iraqi tank. Can't go far in a tank without additional support!?

Al-Kazemi detonates the outlets and reveals what will be included in the white paper and his plan against the corrupt

 Time: 25/06/2020

{Baghdad: Al Furat News} Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi blew a surprise from corruption at the border crossings and who knows “revealing” what will be included in the white paper that the government is working on.

Al-Kazemi’s meeting with a group of media professionals, journalists, and political analysts today was Thursday:
happy to meet with friends from the media and journalists, and talk to you about him, and he has dreams, and he has a dream to protect the democracy that the word protects, and the vision that the media and journalists offer “leaders and opinion-makers.”
Without the word, freedom of expression, and the provision of information, it is not possible to build a state, because information today is working to correct the path.
The word "truth" is borne by the media people and journalists who carry the suffering of people.
We need constructive criticism and the honest word, and we must distinguish that the word is used today as a dagger, and we have to isolate the true word from the word that wants to stir up sectarian, nationalist, or hatred.
The challenges we face today are great, and when there is criticism of the government, it must be based on the truth and help us, not on political interpretations or conflicts.
I am not a threat to anyone because I do not have a party, and my party is the people.
Media professionals and journalists are the closest to the street.
The word is the one who embraces the state and recovers it from failure and betrayal, and at the same time it can destroy the state.
We have a real challenge to tackle the Corona epidemic, and the reason is poor infrastructure.
Over the past seventeen years, Iraq has not succeeded in building infrastructure, but it has succeeded in building simple malls, because there are those who invested state funds in simple projects at the expense of the citizen.
Iraq did not succeed in building a real health system or a good educational system, and it relied on projects that may be important to the citizen but secondary, and the reason is the economic policy that relied on oil, and when the oil prices collapsed, everything collapsed.
We do not have a real economic system, and for seventeen years Iraq has not been able to build a real health system.
We have to be the children of today, not the children of yesterday, and this needs a consensus between the government, the people, parliament and political blocs, but unfortunately we have not seen this consensus.
People feel a loss of hope, and this is its right when it compares itself with other countries and developed neighboring countries.
We have the challenges of the Iraqi identity, we previously suffered from sectarian conflicts, and the Iraqi national identity cannot be overbid.
Let our standard be citizenship, not sectarian or ethnic affiliation.
Iraqi soil is sacred and we must defend it in every way.
Our government is not a party government, and our only project is to cross the country due to the circumstances that resulted in the resignation of the previous government.
Citizens demanded fair elections, and we must work to create conditions for fair and fair elections so that the citizen feels that he is represented, and when he demands his rights he demands them through elections, and not through threats or weapons, a demand that reflects the size of the Iraqi awareness in light of the living conditions it suffers from.
The Iraqi wants to establish for the future, and this is what we are proud of, and the people have succeeded in achieving their demand, and this deserves the sacrifice of us to achieve this goal.
Our goal is to achieve fair elections and a real process of building the state, and we must work very hard to create conditions for fair and fair elections to reach results in which the citizen feels represented and does not feel his voice kidnapped.
The citizen went out with demonstrations, and demanded fair elections and reform, and these demands must be protected and sacred to us.
We will not allow anyone to threaten to destroy the country.
We have a future ahead that we must build for our children.
Media professionals and journalists are the basis of state building, and everyone listens to them.
The government is in a collapsed economic situation, and we need opportunity and support to prove that we are able to succeed or fail.
Regional interventions in Iraq will not work unless there is a party at home working on it.
We must not allow interventions that threaten Iraqi sovereignty or the Iraqi social fabric, and we will not allow adventures for external parties in Iraq.
The future of Iraq is more important than everything. Iraq is not a marginal country, and the adventure on its soil is unacceptable.
There are challenges regarding the security situation, and we have made many sacrifices, and we must not repeat the mistakes of the past.
The government has a young government, and it has challenges in reforming the economic situation caused by mismanagement.
We all have to support reforms, because it means the search for justice.
The Iraqis who lived inside Iraq suffered much more than those who left outside Iraq.
Any citizen has the right to receive compensation, but not a person has the right to receive more than one compensation in one case at the expense of many poor people.
The white paper the government is working on is a reform and distribution paper for justice to all.
We will soon launch a project to restore life to Baghdad.
We launched a project to complete the completion of hospitals that had not been completed for a long time.
We have a youth support project to create small projects.
We do not have a banking system, and we are working to achieve and advance a banking system, because it is the pillar of any state, and we are working hard to find a mechanism to advance the reality of banks because they have turned into fiefdoms, and sometimes they are facades of political influence and mafias.
Investment is the solution to problems, but it needs a safe environment, after providing security and services, and we have to support and protect the investor.
There is a loss of billions of dollars annually in the outlets, and there are gangs, groups, bandits and influential people, who sometimes control the outlets and at the expense of the state, and there will be a campaign soon to restore consideration to the outlets, and we will fight ghosts.
The money belongs to the Iraqi people, not to those with influence or arms owners who impose their will at the expense of the public interest.
Soon we will take a set of measures to change some administrative sites in the state, and after that we will hear a campaign of defamation of the government, because there will be those who will be affected by these changes, and we will say frankly: We have nothing to lose, and our bet on the media and the journalists and on the people, and if they do not leave us to work, we will go out Our hands are clean.
Corruption is more dangerous than terrorism, because it helps terrorists, and we will have a campaign to follow up on the causes of this corruption and pursue the corrupt.
Ammar Al-Masoudi ended

Representatives are calling on the government to put in place a real vision to fight corruption and waste public money

Baghdad / extent

Economic experts and representatives described the financial reforms that the government began implementing as a "task" to determine operational expenditures and reduce them by reducing salaries, privileges and benefits of higher grades and eliminating aliens and double-salaries, believing that the government needs more than a year to address the economic crisis.

"The economic reforms that the government has begun to implement are important to determine the trend towards reducing operating expenses, concessions and benefits enjoyed by higher grades," economist Majid Al-Suri said in a statement to Al-Mada.

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi confirmed last Saturday (20 June 2020) during his visit to the Ministry of Oil that he would not retreat from stopping dual salaries, and the detainees of Rafha, noting that some parties are trying to disrupt the reforms.

Al-Suri added, "These reforms will rearrange the operating expenses by rearranging the salary scale for the higher grades."

He continues, "The next step will be to control revenues by controlling border crossings and eliminating space and double salaries," stressing that "these measures are an integral part of the financial reform process implemented by the government."

As for determining the 100-day period by the government’s other bloc to implement its economic reforms, the economist comments that “implementing economic reforms requires long periods that may take more than a year to address these problems.”

In turn, Salam al-Shammari, a deputy from the Alliance Alliance bloc, described in a statement briefed on (the extent) the steps of Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazimy as "the task to extract the financial situation from his condition," noting that "the period during which work began to implement the paragraphs of his government and reform program is short."

The Council of Ministers formed the Emergency Cell for Financial Reform to provide financial liquidity and make decisions regarding financial reform through rationalizing expenditures, maximizing resources, reforming financial institutions, and developing financing plans for reconstruction, development and investment projects, and sources and mechanisms of financing outside of government spending.

Iraq faces a major economic crisis caused by falling oil prices in global markets, the outbreak of the Corona virus, which caused the economy to shrink and a lack of cash.

Al-Shammari added that the Alliance of Saireon has set a time limit for supporting the current government that does not exceed 100 days, indicating that "the support will be continuous if the governmental reform measures continue, and otherwise we will have another position."

The House of Representatives voted in Wednesday’s session on the draft of the domestic and external borrowing law to bridge the fiscal deficit for 2020, which set the ceiling for external borrowing at (5) billion dollars, and (15) trillion dinars of local borrowing by authorizing the Minister of Finance to issue treasury and bond transfers.

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands believes that "the country cannot tolerate any setback in any sector, especially financial and economic, and the government should accelerate procedures for maximizing resources instead of relying on one resource that is not fixed up and down," stressing "the importance of activating strict government measures in any sector that generates revenue General of the state from agriculture to outlets and many others. "

A few days ago, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi announced the "white" reform paperand said that his government prepared a white paper for the expected reforms, and made preliminary recommendations that are being discussed before moving forward with them, pointing to "the need for complementarity between the government and the parliament to support these reforms."

The reform paper will be implemented in three phases, according to the statement of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee for (Al-Mada) last Tuesday; The first is short-term and is represented by the state's control of border crossings and ports, the second is medium-term and is to restore Iraqi industry and solve the problem of corruption, and the third will be long-term and includes major strategic projects.

In this regard, a spokesman for the Prime Minister announced yesterday, Tuesday, that there are 18,000 dual-salary employees in the Ministry of Education only, while he stressed the difficulty of adding any job grades according to the current economic indicators.

Ahmed Mulla Talal said in a press conference that I followed (Al-Mada) that "the auditing authorities have audited 5 thousand of the 18 thousand who have received information about their wages more than one salary, and that there is a specialized committee that will work to uncover double-salaries in all government institutions."

In this context, Youssef Al-Kalabi, a member of the Parliamentary Committee of the Brightness, warned the current government not to proceed with the gesture of previous governments, stressing the need to use the current government for the next ninety days to provide reforms. Otherwise, the parliament will have a real role in the interrogation, he said.

And a member of the House of Representatives Yusef Al-Kalabi said in a press statement that "the government's quick resort to borrowing to secure the payment of salaries is an indication that the situation in Iraq is very dangerous in the future", indicating that "there are similar decisions made by previous governments such as licensing rounds that led to the waste of billions of dollars and the arrival of the situation How it is. "

And he stressed "the necessity of the government providing the reforms that were written by law." He pointed out that there is no real vision until now by the current government in the fight against corruption, despite the request of the House of Representatives to form a high committee to combat corruption and waste of public money.
