Authorities uproot $1 billion worth of weed in national forests

6 hrs ago As part of "Operation Mountain Sweep" the DEA in legion with the US Forestry Service and other agencies has seized a red-eyed $1 billion worth of marijuana plants grown in national forests. In just six weeks, crops comprising more than half a million plants worth an optimistic $2,000 each have been busted in seven Western states including California, Nevada, and Washington. Firearms, fertilizer, trash and watering equipment were also uncovered in camps where growers spend weeks, even months, tending isolated plots in rugged terrain, and trashing the environment. With the operation running until the end of the month, it could be time to switch to another poison

What's the difference between smoking pot and drinking alcohol? I don't do either but am just curious about this absolute prosecution of weed.

Ahh, my friend. You have come to the right source. IMHO Alcohol is the far greater evil of the two. Alcohol can and does (given enough consumed) makes a person totally unable to think anywhere close to clearly. It also makes some folks very belligerent and totally obnoxious. Not me, I'm a lovable drunk. Driving a vehicle safely is virtually impossible at differing BAC per person. The drunk becomes very absorbed in self.

On the other hand pot makes your senses perk up. Food tastes better, music is much clearer, and even sex is more enhanced. Driving a vehicle is not really more dangerous (IMHO) than normal, unless you consider driving slower more dangerous.

All in all I believe if one had to be illegal it should be alcohol...and I've had vast experience with both.

I have not had pot in 30 years, and I only drink an occasional beer or mixed drink nowadays.

Hope that helps

Alcohol by most is consumed in small quantities. It has actual food value and health benefits when consumed in moderation. There are people that consume it in large amounts to experience the intoxicating effects of escaping reality. Drunkenness is socially unattractive and has become socially unacceptable.

Weed is only consumed to induce intoxication. It is used to escape reality and places its users in a state of drunkenness.

Weed also confuses those that use it into believing they are acting peaceful when they are truly being obnoxious. This is due to its toxicity taking such an extreme toll on the human body. Weed will never be socially acceptable.

Don't forget it will give you a terrible case of the munchies, an overwhelming desire to vote for Ron, and make you post your ignorance on political and foreign relations matters on DV.:lol:

Are you kidding me? The number of people who abuse alcohol far outnumbers the number of people who "consume in small quantities"

RE pot, Is this the voice of experience talking?

I think you speak from you and your acquaintances experiences. I have experiences quite different and can't imagine that this country is overcome with drunkenness. If you are right then doing anything positive in this country would only be a mute point. Drunks can be OK with or without government, economy, freedom, communism, socialism, fascism, or television. All we will need when we get there is just something to catch a buzz on.

According to WHO (World Health Organization):

Alcohol is responsible for almost 4% of ALL deaths world wide annually. (2.5 million per year)

Alcohol is a causal factor in 60 types of diseases and injuries, according to WHO's first report on alcohol since 2004.

Alcohol consumption has been linked to cirrhosis of the liver, epilepsy, poisonings, road traffic accidents, violence, and several types of cancer, including cancers of the colorectum, breast, larynx and liver.

The official publication of the Scientific Research Society, American Scientist, reported that alcohol is one of the most toxic drugs and using just 10 times what one would use to get the desired effect could lead to death. Marijuana is one of – if not the – least toxic drugs, requiring thousands of times the dose one would use to get the desired effect to lead to death. This “thousands of times” is actually theoretical, since there has never been a case of an individual dying from a marijuana overdose. Meanwhile, according to the CDC, hundreds of alcohol overdose deaths occur the United States each year.

Try again, Jon...

Sad but true buddy, we are simple creatures. "Will work for beer" :D

DD6 - they just found 22 acres of some of THE finest growing maryjane in CO mtns - was being watered etc. by special set up so could be irrigated and not hand carried. How's that for a Rocky Mountain high????

Very nice! I wonder how many middle men are getting a major butt chewing right now LOL. "Dangnabit, I told you NOT to leave that sprinkler on, you are going to work this off it's coming out of your check.":lol::lol:

You are so totally off base it isn't even funny. Weed has been found to actually reduce and/or slow the growth of tumors. It has helped cancer patients and AIDS Patients regain appetite and fight off nausea. The benefits of hemp alone could put an end to deforestation, can be used as a bio fuel, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Alcohol however, harms EVERY single organ of the body, and is rarely consumed in only small amounts.

I think you just sit there and try to think of new ways to be completely wrong and offensive, it's kinda funny.
