  1. This whole thing is like the movie Groundhog Day. I've been reading that it will happen in January since 2011. Some for a lot longer than that.
  2. Prayers sent and will continue until we hear all is well.
  3. Leave me alone. Fat people are harder to kidnap.
  4. Hmm, The way things are going "The Bankers" in Iraq will probably be saying the same thing to their depositors about the USD soon.
  5. I saw Ian a couple of years ago. The voice is not what it once was, but still enjoyed the show. Hold on to those 70s & 80s tour memories. There will never be another Jethro Tull. Oh, and by the way, that place in Cleveland will remain the Hall of Shame until JT is inducted.
  6. your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.
  7. And while that is sad, the precious unemployment rate does not take into account the millions who are grossly underemployed. I, for one, have had to work 4 part-time jobs (10 - 13 hours per day, seven days a week) for the past 2 years to try and stay afloat.
  8. I hate to be a kill-joy, but his actual headstone reads: Two things I love most, Good horses and beautiful Women, and when I die I hope They tan this old hide of mine And make it into a ladies riding Saddle so I can rest in peace Between the two things I love Most. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Larsen&GSiman=1&GSsr=121&GScid=77314&GRid=16419524&
  9. It is Monday morning. Let's take a few moments to remember our friend's need and request today.
  10. Thank you. I did notice that some were better than others that way. Also, I wondered about the warranties. I'm always leery of those.
  11. WOW, you all are the best! I didn't know I'd get this many responses. Looks like I'll hold off for an OLED or an RV (whichever comes first). Seriously, it looks like a Sumsung LED is what I'll shoot for. I really appreciate all the info. +1 all around!
  12. OK, I have a question for you well informed, tech savvy Dinarians. I am hopelessly helpless with today's technology. My TV is about ready to blow so I'm looking for a new one. I don't have a lot of $$$$ to spend (barring an RV soon). I'm looking for a 39"-40", mostly for sports and cooking shows. Any advice for an old man? LED, LCD, Plasma.......... Sony, Visio, Samsung, Hisense.......... these are all ones I saw at a local Wal-Mart. The one thing that drives me crazy is when there is action on the screen the picture is blurry until everything is standing still. I keep reading what I can about the differences, but it just gets overwhelming to me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  13. You're always cool here. Have a Merry Christmas. And as always...........GO RV!
  14. The report from your 15 year old is what concerns me the most. That sort of thing, in light of recent events, should be taken very seriously. And I believe I remember responding to you some time back, that suicide is a very important subject for you. But what do you do? If what he/she told you is true (that whoever told him/her that was not exaggerating) there should be some notification to someone and an intervention done. I know prayer is important to you. I will be remembering you and what you are going through.
  15. Bamagirl, I didn't realize this was such a serious moment for anyone other than the unusually rabid survivalist (as opposed to the ordinary survivalists) or worriers. I'm sorry that your children are having such a hard time with this. As the Christian I know you are from other posts in forums here, I'm sure you have been able to comfort them with the knowledge of us not knowing the time of the world's end. And if it were to happen on the 21st, or even tonight, that they are protected from that. Aside from that, if it would help, NASA has come out with a couple of scientific videos that may help. I don't know the age of your kids. You can view these and see if they would be able to understand, or they might give you some points that would help you calm their fears. Of course, and that's where this post comes from, sometimes the best way to alleviate fear is through humor. If you show uptightness about this, or anything else, that will spill over to them more than anything they see or hear from someplace else (IMHO). Probably the harder thing for a parent today to calm fears of children would be in explaining the tragedy that happened last week. That is what I’m more concerned with in terms of children’s psyche. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEm1ecE2-JQ
  16. IMHO if you are interested in family values of any kind, you will not participate in the Thursday openings for shopping (anything before 4 am Friday). Not only should it be time spent with your family, it is depriving the people who have to work those hours time with their families. And they do put up with a lot. People go in, shop then leave. The employees are stuck there for a full shift, putting up with the crowds, unruly customers at the registers and, heaven forbid, they run out of that precious video game (or whatever) then dealing with irrate customers. Is anything on this side really worth all of that?
  17. I'm shocked, just shocked. Next you're going to tell me that MSNBC isn't reporting this coincidence.
  18. Plenty disappointed, but still proud to be American!!!!!!
  19. You beat me to the post, but that is my general idea.
  20. Well without really advocating dropping your moral standards, one way to do it is take an "if you can't beat em join mentality". By that I mean if the system becomes so inundated with "takers" the system will implode on itself. Demand more from the government. More entitlements, more income, more services. Free phones. Free health care. Free education. This route would be a great pain for many. It could nearly destroy this great country, but there would be enough passive force brought about so there would HAVE to be change. Now most of the people here would not want to see that happen. Most have more moral fortitude than that and love their country too much to do that. But, I KNOW there are many who are living on the edge of financial bankruptcy that still are holding out from taking advantage of public assistance programs. If you need it, go for it. The real unemployed/under-employed numbers of just these people will shock the system that change MAY start to happen. One other thing we can do without doing something you can't live without is to stop supporting the Hollywierd crowd who are such hypocrites. Don't see their movies. Don't buy their recordings. Don't go to their concerts. Stop watching their TV shows. But, unfortunately that won't even happen. In reality, people will gripe and do nothing for 4 more years.
  21. Actually it's because all the money and talking to would be just to and in the big population centers. A better way, IMO, would be to divide up the state's electroral votes based on congressional districts or something. In most states the Democratic votes are highly concentrated in major cities, so the rest of the state is pretty much ignored. I think MA has something like that. I don't know if this would have helped in this election or not. Just disposing of the Electoral College won't change much in the way candidates would meet with the "little people".
  22. Obama will have an early lead, but then the Romney voters will get home from work and hit the polls.
