GO RV, then BV

Yeah when he put tariffs on steel and aluminum, I thought wow it will take a long time to get those factories running again if ever. I thought why not put tariffs on textiles? I could open a tie factory in a month. I guess we now know why he didn't go with silk and plastics... LOL

The funny thing is sent this out to about 30 supporters I know and not one response... Go figure.

You evidently don't understand why tariffs were imposed on those two items.

Cheap inferior steel and Aluminum flood our country from China and force our companies out of business.

Then China attempts to buy those companies and corner the market.

They would then control a national security item and be in control of the countries manufacturing process.

Not a smart thing for our military when your potential enemy controls your steel and aluminum.

Don't cherry pick my response if it is a response with an explanation.

You also don't acknowledge the dire consequences if the scenario I laid out plays out.

If you want the US to use US steel then the cheap foreign steel coming in to the US has to stop or be cost comparable with the US steel.

Why isn't Trump's crap American? Had to do with politicians long before Trump entered the political scene. What does Trump mean when he says MAGA? It means bringing back manufacturing and making crap here that corporations left the USA to make because the politicians on the Hill got greedy and decided to create huge tax burdens and regulate the heck out of those corporations. Politicians before Trump created the this mess and at least someone had the gonads to try to fix it. Tariffs and taxes aren't popular because they get passed onto the consumer. However, tariffs prevent crap from outside of the country from getting an unfair advantage with the competition here. Open a tie factory in a month, why don't you? Because its not sustainable to do so in the current economic environment and therein lies the rub. China has manipulated their currency to gain unfair trading advantage creating a huge surplus and stupid politicians in DC have gone right along and people who care only about their own microcosmic world as if they are the center of the universe keep voting the imbeciles into off ice who line their own pockets. Its a vicious  cycle that is held in perpetuity by people who think the politician who did nothing the last 2 or 6 years will do something for them in the next cycle. Until Americans get rid of their apathy, same thing that led to the downfall of the Romans - there are no barbarians at the gate, then the downfall as Jean Dixon predicted is inevitable. Most don't even know China floods Canada with cheap steel that eventually gets sold to America to avoid the tariffs that we do have. Why do you think Trump wants to renegotiate NAFTA? Because Trump is being an idjit? Nah.

Exactly and what will the new tariffs bring? Higher prices to you and me. Tariffs will not stop stuff from coming in, they only make things more expensive. America is a consumer economy and Americans will keep buying cheap. If Americans cared about their country Wal-Mart wouldn't exist. I know people who have retired from the big 3 car makers and complain about their pensions being reduced, but they drive imports, and wonder why their retirement benefits are taking a hit. Explain the reasoning behind that to me.

The economic structure of the 40s, 50s, and 60's will not work in today's world. We all would like it to be that simple, but the business world is not going backwards and lose profits... It is basic economics and pure greed.

Come on man, when will people see what is real?

The Newsweek report said: "During the time of the Trump Chicago construction, according to documents filed with the United States Court of International Trade by the Department of Justice and the Department of Commerce, Permasteelisa was dumping aluminum used in curtain walls, meaning it was using predatory pricing to sell the products below the cost of production or the amount charged in China."

The report said the Chicago's Trump Tower has a "curtain wall" made of 11,500 glass panels framed with 207,000 feet of aluminum. Newsweek acknowledges "tracing the metal back to China is a difficult process" but uses documents to link the Trump project to the imports.

It also says what Trump did was not illegal but estimates that the decision cost American companies about $350 million.

A complete misstatement. China has a prolific practice of falsely certifying the quality of their metals and then will send through other countries that will likewise falsely certify the metals. The end result is there are inferior quality Chinese metals are used in services (Refinery, Chemical Plants, etc.) that will prove to be the basis for catastrophic failures. I know because I have seen it. As a result, laborious Procurement standards have to be applied to ensure no inferior quality Chinese metals are utilized in the specific services.

One catastrophic Chinese metal failure in a multibillion dollar facility (Refinery, Chemical Plants, etc.) will dwarf the $350 million amount noted. Just one incident. Some of these incidents utilizing the Chinese metals will not show up for a few years so the cumulative economic loss further dwarfs the $350 million amount noted.

The far greater cost is the loss of life and limb due to these catastrophic Chinese metal failures. Some folks will be hideously burned.

Actually NAFTA killed American workers... The Chinese probably are laughing at our current situation... They do whatever they want, we threaten them and they keep doing whatever they want... It is sad that our government, long before Trump came along sold us out. He is only one man and he will not change the system for good or bad. He will be gone in the near future and the next politician will pick up where this politician leaves off. People seem to think he is different. that he is going to save the world. He won't. The real power that controls the money will not allow it... It's not like those who have controlled the world's economies is suddenly going to let some spoiled rich kid take away their riches... So everyone can look for hope and change, but alas they will be disappointed... The world gets smaller, the few control the many and it will continue until something much larger than any of us comes along and reshuffles the deck. And Trump is going to be the one to shuffle it. It will have to be a catastrophe on a planetary scale. JMHO

You stated you could open a tie factory and yet you make excuses as to why you don't. Either put up or shut up. People who think they can always do better and yet do nothing are known as arm chair quarterbacks and in the end would be bankrupt inside of 45 days if that.

Again the China dumps steel in Canada on the cheap and through NAFTA Canada exports that steel to the USA. China floods the market with cheap steel costing American workers their jobs.

Wal-mart exists because America is a car culture not a walk to the neighborhood store. It exists because people got tired of driving all over town for 6 items and wanted a condensed place to do most of their shopping. This is a want buy the consumer. Wal mart saw the want and answered it. That is what businesses do.

Why don't you lead the way? Wait, you just spout claims that are unfounded and because you dislike the guy in charge, who ever that may be with an R behind their name. You know nothing of what you call greed. What you think is greed is actually called a capitalistic economy. Oh wait companies can't have the want of money but if they can't then how do you expect them to pay you? Then again you probably don't have any clue between a blue ocean and a red ocean in the business world do you? Answer this question and you have your rebuttal to the 40's 50's and 60's economy diatribe. Because firms that did business in the late 19th century (and earlier) used the same strategies and techniques in the 21 century and have been prosperous. Only the tools policies and regulations have changed.

Here is a novel idea to illustrate the point, you pay your taxes but don't take any deductions or credits. You don't avoid paying any of your taxes or try to get them reduced. So if you make gross 50,000 your adjusted net income is 50,000. You pay taxes on that amount. When you have paid it let us know. What? Don't like that? Why not? Are you saying you are greedy because you want more of your money in your pocket by taking the deductions and credits and trying to find alternative ways to pay less taxes because after all its the government's money right?

<Drops mic.>

Really? I guess god does not appear anywhere in the founding documents of America? Guess God doesn't appear in many of the patriotic songs of America before Lee Greenwood. You need to do your research on when Separation of Church and State hit the courts and finally the SCOTUS. Much older than 1950s. Do you know what the Suffrage Movement was about? How about the mass migrations of the 50s and 60s from the South to the North? Do you even know what at the time was deemed as the Race Wars? What the reason behind them were? Was Abraham Lincoln Republican or Democrat? What did Prez Jefferson do that was so egregious that we have come full cycle and are faced with it again n 2018? Those who forget or do not know their history are doomed to repeat it. Have you ever read the Federalist Papers? Who wrote them and why?

Sorry I disagree... Small America where you could go to locally owned stores at plazas, downtown, etc., died because Wal-Mart under sold them. People wanted cheap crap even if they saved a whopping 10%. Then they wonder why their nice towns are boarded up. Do you know how many people have said to me "I hate shopping at Wal-Mart. Their people don't know anything and their service sucks" But that's where they shop because they can buy their dog food for $7.99 instead of $8.85...

Really?

Really. The pledge was originally written by a socialist.... It was changed in the 50s during the big red fear.

The Pledge of Allegiance

The Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by the socialist minister Francis Bellamy (1855-1931). It was originally published in The Youth's Companion on September 8, 1892. Bellamy had hoped that the pledge would be used by citizens in any country.

In its original form it read:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added. At this time it read:

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Bellamy's daughter objected to this alteration. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

You should really do more than superficial research on the Pledge of Allegiance as you will find there is more to it than what you believe. The Pledge of Allegiance written by a Socialist because of the waves of immigrants flowing into the USA at the time. The main issue was the difference between skilled and unskilled workers. The left preferred the former over the latter. My how things have flipped one hundred years later! More to the Pledge of Allegiance than the Separation of the Church and State which is originally attributed to Thomas Jefferson. Like I said, this issue is much older than you quip.  So instead of pulling out the first article you find through a google search you might want to invest into looking, translated to mean "read", at the lower articles that appear on the page. Busted!
