I had to go to the main library to do some research and as I had some time so decided to look at what there was on Iraq'

A lot of reports/articles showed up! Mostly UK publications.

1. There are plenty of IQD available .(The CBI has not bought up any currency)

2. USD is not used for daily commerce , the $100 is used as a savings tool for major purchases. Smaller usd have all but disappeared.

3. The education system is in disarray. Nepotism runs amok . Good teachers are fired/threatened  . Sunnis wont send children to schools run by Shia teachers and vice versa. As a result few children get a complete education. Adult literacy has not improved much since the CPA turned the system over.

4. Prices are set to the nearest 1000 dinars usually. Often they speak of the 1000 note as THE dinar. Thus the 50,000 note is a 50!

Easy to see now that they dont really need the old 50.

Where is the "main" library?  Is it close by?  Can anybody go there?  Why is the "main" library better than other libraries?  Does the "main" library's internet have supernatural googling skills not found in a typical library?.....and last but not least, is the "main" librarian chick HOT?

Kuwait was just as broken down in ways after Saddam invaded and left the country in shambles.........Take a look at them now.....Post RV

Flamtap: When kuwait was invaded the Emir and his government went into exile the reserves and soverign funds went with them. When he came back so did the funds! it was a true RI. In addition the UN awarded billions in  restitution.

Not the same with Iraq , it was broke. Ended up owing many penalties. Nowhere near the same.

Iraq had to start over from scratch and they PI$$ed it away.

Ya gotta have a card.

the search function only covers newspapers books and official reports on file.

When I search " Iraqi Dinar revaluation" , I get Nada. Hmmmmm! Guess they don't have all the real info?

What are you talking about Rockfl9? Everything is just fine and dandy in Iraq. I'm thinking about sending the in laws there on a vacation

Well , things could be worse!

I just finished reading " The Occupation of Iraq". A well cited text by an Iraqi that served in the administration from the CPA days thru the adoption of the Constitution

He had to flee to the UK in 2006 as working for the US/UN turned out to be a kiss of death. If they didnt flee they were murdered or jailed on trumped up charges.

Ala Shabibi!

He does not expect a calm unified Iraq but a reversion to the old tribal culture. I

.

I picked up a new customer that is from Baghdad about 8 months ago. He is a realtor and is pretty well off. In fact I would say he is wealthy.  He owns seven large apt complexes and at least 4 nice million dollar + homes near the ocean. Im sure there is more too.  He moved here about 20 years ago. He still has some family in Iraq and stays in contact with them.

When we first met i lightly touched the topic of the dinar.  He  roared into laughter when i told him that i knew some people who held dinar and were speculating that the value could increase dramatically.

The first thing out of his mouth was " FOOLS"

Needless to say i never mentioned that i had many millions of them also.

All I have ever really known about Iraq was learned by second and third hand parties, news articles and from relatives who served views in Iraq.

But Shalib is from Iraq and grew up there. First hand info from a citizen regarding the corruption and their root problems.  He would never go back to Iraq.

Even to visit family. NEVER!

He says they are a lazy corrupt people who generally think about no one but themselves.  That is why he is here and never going back.

He has said that deeply entrenched hatred between the Sunnis and the Shilites along with many other factions will never be erased. Its not in their nature.
