Today, Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved reducing the exchange rate of the dollar to 1,300 dinars per dollar. 

The media office of the prime minister said in a statement received by (Baghdad Today) that "the cabinet approves the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Iraq to amend the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, at the equivalent of 1,300 dinars to one dollar." 

Yesterday, Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani received a study from the Central Bank of Iraq regarding reducing the exchange rate of the dollar.

Thanks Yota, I appreciate it. Well at least we know someone can change something and get others to agree to it there! Now if we could just get the Kurds to agree to HCL and oil and gas law, maybe they can really agree to adjust the exchange rate!

A member of the State of Law Coalition, Wael al-Rikabi, considered the cabinet's decision to reduce the price of the dollar a "bold step" in favor of the citizen.

 

Al-Rikabi said {for Al-Furat News} that: "The decision of the government and the Central Bank to reduce the exchange rate of the dollar was expected, and comes within the plans of the Central Bank drawn up in consultation with the government."
"The decision to reduce the exchange rate is evidence that the government continues to control exchange rates and everything that negatively affects the lives of citizens," he added, calling for "the exchange rate is known in the federal budget law for the year 2023 and the implementation of the government program."
"The decision to reduce came at a time when the government must take a bold and courageous step for the benefit of the country and the citizen," al-Rikabi said.
The Council of Ministers, in its meeting held today, Tuesday, approved the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Iraq to amend the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar, equivalent to 1300 dinars to the dollar.
