Central Bank suspends licensing of electronic payment companies
{Baghdad: Al-Furat News} The Central Bank of Iraq decided to stop granting licenses of electronic payment companies for one year.
"The decision was based on the decision of the board of directors of this bank in its session No. 1575, which was held on 4 November 2018, 12/31 "

Alsumaria News / Baghdad
decided the Iraqi Central Bank on Thursday to stop granting licenses for electronic payment companies, indicating that the suspension would be for a period of one year. 

The bank said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, a copy of it, "based on the decision of the Board of Directors of this bank in its session numbered 1575, which complex on the date of Al-Raya of November 2018 stop granting licenses to electronic payment companies." 
"The suspension of licensing will be for one year until December 31, 2019."

 

 


The Central Bank of Iraq was established as an independent bank under its law of 6 March 2004 as an independent body responsible for maintaining price stability and implementing monetary policy. It supervises 10 commercial banks, 26 private banks and 16 Islamic banks, as well as 19 foreign banks. 6 financial institutions and 31 financial transfer companies.

The Central Bank of Iraq decided on Thursday to stop granting electronic payment companies licenses for a period of "one year." 
The bank said in a statement that it had stopped issuing licenses for electronic payment companies for a period of "one year. 
" He added that "this decision was based on the decision of the board of directors of this bank in its session numbered 1575, 2018, in which it confirmed "the suspension of the promotion of new applications for the granting of licenses to electronic payment companies until 31/12/2019".

A statement issued by the bank said that "this came in accordance with the decision of the board of directors of this bank in its session No. 1575, which is dated November 2018, which confirmed that (the suspension of the promotion of new applications to grant licenses to electronic payment companies until 31/12/2019) .

 Here is one point of view. Maybe they are doing this, so it doesn't turn into a free-for-all. When the dinar revalues. ( this year?)  This way the CBI can have some kind of containment dealing with established vendors. And They are giving themselves 1 yr. to adjust to  worldwide exchange  and  vet Any new payment acceptance companies. 

One can only hope! 😎

Was thinking the same thing. CBI takes control, fields the RV, the transition, works out the bugs, opens it back up in a years time. Just talked myself into it. lol
