Baghdad - Writings

It seems that Iran's attempts to involve Iraq and put it in a boat with it in the face of US sanctions have become a reality on the ground.

Western reports revealed that Iran exported a huge shipment of oil to Italy as an Iraqi cargo, which was discovered by Italian company Eni and then decided not to accept the shipment in compliance with US sanctions.

Reports leaked Friday, 21 June 2019, pointed out that the shipment docked at the port of "Milazzo" Italian city of Sicily and was on a ship flagged Liberia called "White Moon" and provided data and documents confirm that the shipment is Iraqi.
However, by examining the cargo from the world oil giant Eni, it was found that the specifications of the crude loaded by the vessel are registered with Italy for the Iranian oil specifications, as well as those of the Iraqi oil registered with the Italians. Thus, the shipment that they bought from a Nigerian company, On US sanctions.

In turn, confirmed the company Sumo for the marketing of Iraqi oil that Iraq has no relationship remotely or close to that shipment and that its shipments did not prove that any of them have been rejected by any international company.

Trump: The attack on Iran was stopped because the response was not appropriate to drop a plane. It would have killed 150 people

132266.jpg?width=750&&height=375

21st June, 2019

US President Donald Trump said on Friday he had stopped the offensive against Iran because the response was not appropriate to drop a plane.

"The military strike was stopped three minutes before it was launched," Trump said in a series of tweets on his Twitter site. "The strike would have killed 150 people and would have targeted three sites."  "Iran is now weaker than ever," he said, stressing that "the US military is ready and ready."

The New York Times reported earlier on Friday that US President Donald Trump had agreed to a military strike on Iranian targets in response to the downing of a US plane yesterday, before abruptly retreating.

The Iranian National Security Council said it was incorrect to report that Tehran had received a message from Washington via Muscat, including a warning from Trump to launch an impending attack on Iran. The source added that "what was said about Iran receiving an American message and the acceptance of the guide is incorrect and completely deny it."

Earlier, the Reuters news agency quoted Iranian officials as saying that US President Donald Trump had issued a warning to Tehran via Muscat on Saturday evening of an imminent attack on Iran and given it a "specific period of time" to respond.

According to the same sources, Trump said in his letter, "We do not want war, but talks," and gave Tehran time to start talks. Tehran responded, according to the same source, to the Sultanate of Oman by saying that Iranian leader Ali Khamenei opposed "any kind of talks" with America, but the message will be transferred to him.

The officials said Iran's immediate response to the letter was a clear warning of the regional and international consequences of any US military action. "He said in his letter that he is against any war with Iran and wants to talk to her on a number of issues," one official told Reuters, asking not to be named. "Set a short period of time to get our response, but Iran's immediate response is that the decision is in the hands of the supreme leader Ali Khamenei in this matter." "We have made it clear that the Supreme Leader is opposed to any talks, but the message will be forwarded to him for the decision," the other official said. "However, the Omani official told us that any attack on Iran would have regional and international consequences."

TBDmZcCV_8vn8_af4W6Y-cmQjZllbLYN9esiFiwc

21st June, 2019

Bloomberg - The Gulf's largest oil exporter, the world's largest oil exporter,

"The cost of transporting the two-million-barrel oil shipment from Saudi Arabia to China has reached 26,000 dollars per day on Thursday, with an expected increase in anticipation, with increased risk and the number of tankers available at 22 percent," the network said in a report. On shipments of oil destined for export from producing countries."

"The amount of insurance for oil shipments and tankers has reached a high level of 180 thousand dollars, per shipment passing by the Gulf, compared to the previous amount earlier this year, which did not exceed 30 thousand dollars only."

Bloomberg pointed out that the current price increase is due to increased risks in the Gulf, especially as tension between Tehran and Washington increased, and oil tankers were targeted.

The New York Times: Trump orders a military strike against Iran and then recedes during the flight

BAGHDAD (Reuters)

"The planes flew towards their targets and the ships were stationed to bomb Iranian military positions, before the order came back.

A newspaper reveals the details of the American strike canceled against Iran

06.21.2019 09:23

Baghdad Today Newsweek reported on Friday details of the US strike on Iran.

The newspaper said that while US military officials were preparing to carry out US President Donald Trump's orders to strike at Iranian targets, they suddenly received a "stop execution" order without giving reasons.

US officials do not know why Trump changed his mind just before the start of the strike, and did not know whether the strike was later postponed or finally canceled, she said.

"Military equipment in the area has been put on standby for 72 hours," the Pentagon quoted a Pentagon official as saying. "Among the equipment is a USS Leyte Gulf warship."

The official said, who did not reveal, "Newsweek" his name: "US forces remained on alert until 2 am local time, while the strike was expected within an hour, before being canceled .. At 6:30 am it was said that the scheme is still without Revealed details ".

The strikes would have been Washington's response to Iran's downing of a US military aircraft while it was flying at a high altitude in airspace above the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday.

Details of the American strike

Another Pentagon official said one of the targets of the US strike was the S-125 Neva / Pechora, a Soviet-made system known as the SA-3 Goa. According to the newspaper.

The US military believes that the weapon was used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to drop a US reconnaissance plane March, yesterday.

Newsweek said Tehran and Washington had been involved in skirmishes over the past period, but the strike would have been an unprecedented development in 40 years of growing tension between the two countries.

"The decision to attack Iran could make Trump's presidential pledge more realistic and serious when he promised to go out of the way in the era of former presidents and launch costly and long-term military campaigns against foreign targets."

For its part, quoted the network "ABC" American Trump administration official said that the strike was to cause an escalation of the situation and fears of civilian casualties.

Just one day before the drone fell, US special envoy to Iran Brian Hawke faced a question about Trump's ability to carry out military action without congressional approval.

Hawk delayed the answer, but said the administration "will do whatever is required of it without overlooking the law of war powers, which is adopted by Congress."

He stressed that any possible US military action against Iran would be "legal and defensive," adding, "No one is talking about offensive action."

Gold hits its highest level in 6 years

89026.jpg?watermark=4

06/21/2019 10:13

Baghdad today - follow-up

Gold prices hit their highest level in nearly six years on Thursday after the US Federal Reserve hinted at its willingness to cut interest rates, possibly by next month, to boost growth.

Precious metal prices touched $ 1400 an ounce, trading at their highest level since early September 2013.

Following the central bank's hints, the dollar index fell 0.5 percent to 96.64 points, its biggest two-day decline since February 2018.

Low interest rates are pushing the dollar, making gold cheaper for investors than other currency holders.
