Ted Cruz: what you need to know about America’s first 2016 candidate

From what I have read, Cruz is an American citizen because his birth mother is a US citizen, even though he was born  out of the USA. I listened to his speech the other night, and was impressed with what he had to say. I would also like to hear all the other people that are running as well. The biggest problem that the candidates have is being able to do everything that they promise. The ideal would to make term limits on all elected positions. If we did that, than maybe , just maybe we could get something done to improve the way we as Americans all live. As much as we need to help everybody else in the world, there is no reason that we can't take care of our Vets, and our children. We also need to provide better care for our elderly. If we could get more people to vote, we would also get a better representation of all the people. As it stands we get mostly those that want handouts, or those that are looking to grow their own wealth.

What damned money are you talking about? Ted Cruz and his wife are using the exchange because they are complying with the law as it is now. If you think Cruz is going to qualify for some subsidy, you obviously know nothing about the law. I would also bet that the amount he pays in premiums, deductibles, co-pays, etc. will be a whole lot more than when his wife covered the family through her job.

I would also bet that you have never met Ted Cruz or his Father personally so you have no idea of the character of the man. Geesh! people like you are the problem with the Republican party.

:cowboy2:

No Granny i have not met Ted Cruz and for the one who says he is going to repeal the act as soon as he is President and then turn around and admit he also signed up because it was the law.  No i have not met his Father either and i probably won't ever either.  You can have all kinds of Character and still not a good President.  So now since i don't know anything about the law, i never had to take the money.  As all can see, everyone comes to his defense when he is not spoken of in a nice manner. .  I am not interested into paying for another war, nor am i looking to support a conservative who says everything everyone wants to hear and not deliver on squat.  When the first Tea Party incursion took the house, they made all kinds of promises and have they delivered hell no.  They take the Senate and did they deliver so far hell no.  Will they ever i don't think so and will a Republican or Tea Party candidate win the election in 2016 no i don't think so.  Again this is just my opinion, all i heard about Ted's father about wild comments about the national issues so i won't read them.  Anyway, i am not jumping on the Ted Cruz band wagon.  4 years ago i spent 5000.00 bucks to attend my first GOP convention in Florida.  It was a big circus, the paulers in one area and Mitt Romney is his area.  All we had was division and the results President Obama was reelected.  All kinds of people in the DV worlds was mad, upset crying and disappointed.  We are headed down the road of division once again and you will have another Democrat sitting in the big chair in Jan 2017.  People like me?   Well Granny,  people like me stayed home in 2012.  Next year we will revisit this topic and i will be the first say i told you so.  Remember people like me know nothing.  I think i have stayed with the rules with this post.  By the way, i met both George W and George H and both were great people, down to earth and George H ran us in the dirt in Paris in the Mid 80's during a Vice Presidential visit.  :)

http://www.buzzfeed.com/ilanbenmeir/the-most-controversial-things-ted-cruzs-dad-has-ever-said#.wvl13Byx7 this is what i did not read about Rafael Cruz.  See stuff like this Ted will have to answer for.

Umbertino... We are not a PC crowd.  That's a very good thing.  You will never have to wonder what most of us are thinking... We'll tell you!  And we will intellectually defend our positions.  You either can't or won't and THAT is what we find upsetting.  Your threads reek of leftist BS.  YOU live in a Utopian society... do you bring your beliefs and real-world experience to the discussion?  No.  Can you articulate your position on anything?  Who knows?  You're MO is kind of passive/aggressive... critical and divisive with other people's words (commie articles) but all Mr. PC Nice Guy to our faces.  This behavior breeds suspicion and mistrust.  But the fact that you're still here is proof that DV enjoys a healthy debate and freedom of speech.  Join us!  You're comfortable enough to bring it up... Why not talk about it?

How would you like it if one of us made it their daily mission for five years (32 THOUSAND posts?!!!) to dredge up the worst, most distasteful and accusatory articles about Italy?  Drive-Bys of Filthy Lies... that you're racist and selfish and you want to destroy the earth!  Even a prole like you wouldn't take that lying down!  Why should we?  Them's fightin' words!   :cowboy2:

We need MORE SPEECH... Not less.  You have a unique (to us) perspective.  We'd like to hear it!  Would you consider joining the conversation?  When posting articles, would you make an effort to choose ones that you are prepared to intellectually defend and then do so if asked?

Let's try, starting with this original post...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/us-politics/11490420/Ted-Cruz-what-you-need-to-know-about-Americas-first-2016-candidate-and-worst-Winston-Churchill-impersonator.html

"He’s an Ivy league 'Wacko Bird'...."   Those are the first 6 words!  The content of the article is equally snarky and absolutely NOT "what you need to know" (as the title implies) about Ted Cruz.

Umbertino... Does this represent the conversation you would like to start?

Spot on, as usual WHN...  but I think even passive-aggressives at least tip their hand in the least!!!  LOL

Perhaps a more apt description of such behavior is simply, cowardice.  As is so often observed... Liberalism is a gutless approach to living, because it is for most part, unaccountable.  The easiest way of life is to be Liberal...  because everything "goes"... kumbaya!   When you stand for nothing, you are just taking up space.  And if all one does stand for is kumbaya... well, get the marshmallows and head for the closest campfire!

I'll at least respect a reasoned opposing viewpoint... but I'll never respect a coward.

If you bring it... at least offer a reasoned opinion...  If ya can't, leave it where you found it.

Kumbaya!

Hey Jax... you know what's even better than marshmallows and kumbaya around a campfire?  Drinks and political discourse with well-informed people!  Of course there's always the danger of lighting a grassfire of ideas, but it's worth the risk!  ;)   Cheers!

Did you seriously disagree with Raphael Cruz's statements in that article? Please tell me which one was so outrageous that Ted will have to answer for it. Really! You need to be educated and not by the left leaning liberal media you obviously listen to and read. In 2010, we elected Tea Party patriots all across this country but there wasn't enough of them to make any change possible. In 2012 we again elected Tea Party patriots but still they were outnumbered and some turned out to be less than conservative. In 2014 we elected more of them and now that we have a majority in both houses, bills are being passed but Obama has promised to veto everything. Without veto override, we are no closer to making changes. We need a President who will sign the bills that are passed to enforce the constitution. So you just sit on your ***** and don't vote again in 2016. It's voter's like you that stayed home instead of voting in 2012 is the reason we have had to live with this incompetent administration another 4 years.

Thanks for nothing.

I find it ironic that 46 People in the Senate can prevent a bill from passing.  WOW, what a shame...

I never Judge, but the Good Lord Jesus gave me spirit of discernment!  :tiphat:

Arti, I have the Spirit of discernment too. I have had several personal conversations with Umbertino, he's a good guy. He posts articles that he finds so people can debate them. Europe is liberal for the most part so .... All I am saying is there is no need to bash anyone really. If you don't like the article, go on to the next one.

His mother did not give up her American citizenship before he was born. It falls along the same lines as children of soldiers born over seas the are still Americans even though they were born in a different country.

MARKINSA.... NAILED IT !  :tiphat:  :twothumbs:

Like we said before,

UMBE is our crazy anarchist uncle we keep locked in the basement and only let out on Holidays.

Except he's not really kept in the basement.

Other perspectives are good, but do you believe what you post or are you just trying to stir up trouble?

.

I am sure Umbertino is a nice guy, and my observations start from 2011, and that has been my experience with his posts.  I have challenged Umbertino on numerous posts asking him why he posts what he posts, and the above is the first time he has ever responded. If he truly agrees with the Communist Socialist Far Left agenda, how would that be an insult?  That would be like you calling me a conservative, its not an insult.

.

Agreed. :twothumbs:

...   I'm jealous.....I really thought I had cornered the market on acting like a child.

Ted Cruz.......CANADAte for president.   :D  bumper stickers coming to a Spencer's near you.    B)

GO RV, then BV

Foreign born and of questionable heritage, Theodore "Ted" Cruz has openly challenged Dear Leader (PBUH) and/or his replacement (wink, wink...) to his rightful place in the House of Color Previously Known As White.

To Arms, comrades! This man is Canadian-born, of two parents, and probably already has birth certificates printed up! He is skillful in his rhetoric and has fooled the reichwing voters of Texazistan into making him a "high-spanic" Senator. He is clearly in violation of Dear Leaders revised immigration reform policies, version 2.1.1(modification 4 ( B) as amended)

It's time to dust off the rosters of fainting womyn, ACORN voter lists, Black Panther election guards, and chanters of hope and change with Yes we Can.

This teabagger Cruz will need our full attention

FORWARD!

I have also been hearing from the Propaganda Ministry that racist, white-Hispanic, Tea Bagger Cruz isn't very smart. He just doesn't have the mental kapacity to understand Komrade Glorious Leader's stellar intellekt and brilliant "kommon sense approaches." I will tell you this, Cruz would never have the greatness to be able to get the Nobel Peese Pries simply for having a pulse rate, like Komrade Glorious Leader did.

I believe that the RINO establishment should immediately ban Cruz from the party and throw themselves at the feet of Komrade Glorious Leader and other high Demokrat party officials to beg for mercy for letting Cruz get this far.

Yes, yes, we still don't know in what kountry or on which planet Komrade Glorious Leader was born. We don't even know what his grades were in kollege. "But at this point, what difference does it make?" He produced a doktored-up, bogus birff certifikate from Hawaii, so that is good enough. There is an agenda to advance and the ends justify the means.

Granny i guess you did see "i did not read these stories":, but you are so hell bent on defending Ted and his pops.  I voted in 2012 for Mitt Romney.  People stayed home because Ron Paul did not get the nomination.  Don't you remember all of the screaming hollering and crying.   Some folks were put in time out by you, because they lost their minds over Mr Paul.  Since you are so sold on Ted, let us see who gets the nomination for the Grand Old Party.  I am just a voter who speaks his mind and folks tend to call me crazy.  They were not saying that after President Obama won again.  LOL, all i can say is DAM, people are going bonkers over Ted like they did Ron Paul.  As one of my co workers would say "Sad but True".  Have a good evening TG.

People complain about both parties but set on their hands when it is time to do something about it. I have been on liberal web sites that are full of nothing but bigotry and hatred for anyone who does not agree with the way they think. I have been told that they wish I where dead because I do not believe the same way they do. But the Constitution says they have there right to freedom of speech. It is ironic that they do not feel that conservatives should be afforded the same right that they scream so loud about. On the other side of the isle there are RINO's who have rolled over and have sold their souls to Corporate America. People can whine about the Tea Party as much as they want but the fact is that the RINO's are as much afraid of them as the fascist liberals are. If anyone does not like some of the things that are said here then they don't have to read it. But this is America and we have soldiers dieing to protect those rights.
