Tlar’s Sunday Update To Family & Friends

Tlar’s Sunday Update

On Sunday, June 15, 2014

 Comment – The process to change the country has begun. Maliki declared all by himself a state of emergency yesterday. The parliament is the only organization that has the power to grant a state of emergence and rather than do that they called for the government to resign.

 Maliki tried to get the federal court to grant him the state of emergency and they declined. So he just declared it all by himself. Everyone is ignoring his self proclaimed state of emergency.

Hakim in the first article explains that he does not have the ability to do this and that none of the powers a state of emergency that would be involved are active.

The European Union just called for Maliki to step down.

~~~
  Saudia Arabia also called for him to step down stating he is the root cause of the ploblems that have brought Iraq to where it is today.
The insurgents in Mosul stated yesterday that their only goal is to get rid of the Maliki government that has marginalized everyone but the Shia’s and that if this situation changes they will pull out of the areas that they still occupy.
   Today/last night, Zubaidi has called on the courts to ratify the election results and has been infornmed that the election results will be released in the next two to three days. The election committee had reported that the numbers floating around a week ago will not change much.
Once the election results are ratified the new parliament will meet and get down to the business of changing the government which is now operating under a caretaker government.
So by Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday we should see the process again moving along only IMO it will move quickly because all the main players have already been chosen and agreed to. Maliki has been unable to stop it no matter what dirty trick he has tried.
So potentially up to Friday next week everything will continue to look confusing especially if you are reading the US media. Most of what is printed is being produced right here and is being fed this crap by the Maliki government.
Hang in everyone. Everything will become much more clear by next Friday or before. The crux of the hold up is the election results not having been ratified yet. The coalition cannot move forward until these official results are released. This is not what the US press is telling you. tlar
    Yesterday immunity was lifted for the parliament and everyone involved in the government. The article I sent you
 People volunteered to defend the homeland nothing to do with the declaration of emergency, which has not been announced
    1506/2014 12:36:00
    BAGHDAD / NINA / The MP, of the Kurdistan Alliance, Mustafa Amin said that the issue of people volunteered to defend the homeland unrelated to declare a state of emergency because it was not announced yet, noting that the current government has turned into a caretaker government as of today.
  He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: “The issue of volunteer people to defend their homeland thing, and the state of emergency is something else, even if all the Iraqi people volunteered, and if Maliki has not been given the title of (ruler of emergency) he will not get the powers of the governor of the emergency.”
  He added that “Prime Minister, should act as prime minister and commander in chief of the armed forces in accordance with the conditions of the ordinary, not as governor emergency, and he should deal with the volunteers according to the natural contexts, the issue of declaration of emergency or non-announcement is within the powers of Parliament and any other party has not the power give him approval, even the federal court or other, and if happened and granted him, it will be invalid, because the Federal Court does not possess these powers to grant him that “
He pointed out that “the current government has turned into a caretaker government, starting from today.” ended
Baqir al-Zubaidi expects the Federal Court to ratify the election results during the next three days Print Save
 15/06/2014 14:04:00
 BAGHDAD / NINA / The head of the citizen bloc, Baqir al-Zubaidi called the Federal Court to expedite the ratification of the election results, expected to be approved during the two or three days ahead.
 He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / today that “speeding up the ratification of the election results is important and necessary to hold the first session of the new parliament to elect a president and its two deputies and speed up the election of the President and his deputy, and go to elect Prime Minister and members of the government to end the constitutional vacuum, which the country suffers from “.
 He added that “the first session of the Council will be held under the chairmanship of the older MP,
who is / Adnan al-Janabi / from Watania coalition in order to call the House of Representatives to elect a president and two deputies, and then continue the sessions.”/ End
Good article to back up the main premise...however....is there ANY article/statement to back up the insurgents leaving...especially as they appear to be slaughtering people at the moment ???
The insurgents will never leave voluntarily, even if/when the Iraqi government changes it's leadership.
Tlar:      Maliki will be out in less than 48 hours.
He is finished and it is my sincere belief that sometime late tonight, or tomorrow the SOL will drop him like a hot potato.
The government will be formed almost overnight because once the PM is selected everything else as in Pres and VP’s, are picked and ready to go.
HANG IN EVERYONE.  EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE AND THE ANSWERS WE SEEK WILL BE KNOWN TO ALL OF US IN 48 HOURS.  THIS WILL SPEED UP THE PROCESS OF FORMING THE GOVERNMENT.  NOT SLOW IT DOWN.  TLAR
I sure would like to see the article about the insurgents saying that if he can produce it, it could mean something. I do remember reading something about the people protesting Maliki's government though! Maybe that's what he's talking about? Also the election results have been ratified only the results are in Arabic. So now what?
Will chair the opening session of the new parliament and government rescue of the free and the citizen and the other blocks, headed by Chalabi
I learned (Orient) from sources in the national coalition that trend tends to call for the convening of the first meeting of the House of Representatives after the ratification of the results of parliamentary elections yesterday to elect the President of the Age,
including paving the way for the development of the relationship with the United States to cancel the frequency Washington arming Baghdad where marred by a lot of tension because of differences of political leaders and the tendency to sectarianism and the fear of the evolution of the dispute with Erbil to armed confrontation!
Maliki Out & Ahmed Chalabi In?? Breaking News
Lord have mercy if that is anywhere near true..... The US will not be dancing in the street with that news... (if it is news)... Here's some brief snippets to file away in case there is any merit to this...I wouldn't read it otherwise... but nice to file away for one of the days you really want to be depressed...
Ahmed Abdel Hadi Chalabi%5B1%5D (Arabic: أحمد الجلبي‎) (born 30 October 1944) is an Iraqi politician. He was interim oil minister in Iraq%5B2%5D in April–May 2005 and December–January 2006 and deputy prime minister from May 2005 until May 2006. Chalabi failed to win a seat in parliament in the December 2005 elections, and when the new Iraqi cabinet was announced in May 2006, he was not given a post. Once dubbed the "George Washington of Iraq"%5B3%5D by American supporters, he has fallen out of favor and is currently under investigation by several U.S. government sources. He was also the subject of a 2008 biography by investigative journalist Aram Roston, The Man Who Pushed America to War; The Extraordinary Life, Adventures, And Obsessions of Ahmad Chalabi %5B4%5D and a 2011 biography by 60 Minutes producer Richard Bonin, "Arrows of the Night: Ahmad Chalabi's Long Journey to Triumph in Iraq".%5B5%5D
Chalabi is a controversial figure, especially in the United States, for many reasons. In the lead-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the Iraqi National Congress (INC), with the assistance of lobbying powerhouse BKSH & Associates,%5B6%5D provided a major portion of the information on which U.S. Intelligence based its condemnation of the Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, including reports of weapons of mass destruction and alleged ties to al-Qaeda. Most, if not all, of this information has turned out to be false and Chalabi a fabricator.%5B7%5D That, combined with the fact that Chalabi subsequently boasted, in an interview with the British Sunday Telegraph, about the impact that their alleged falsifications had on American policy, led to a falling out between him and the U.S. government. Furthermore, Chalabi has been found guilty of the Petra banking scandal in Jordan (see below). In January 2012, a French intelligence official stated that they believed Chalabi to be an Iranian agent.%5B8%5D
Initially, Chalabi enjoyed close political and business relationships with some members of the U.S. government, including some prominent neoconservatives within the Pentagon. Chalabi is said to have had political contacts within the Project for the New American Century, most notably with Paul Wolfowitz, a student of nuclear strategist Albert Wohlstetter, and Richard Perle. He also enjoyed considerable support among politicians and political pundits in the United States, most notably Jim Hoagland of The Washington Post, who held him up as a notable force for democracy in Iraq.%5B9%5D He was a special guest of First Lady Laura Bush at the 2004 State of the Union Address.%5B10%5D
Before the war, the CIA was largely skeptical of Chalabi and the INC, but information allegedly from his group (most famously from a defector codenamed "Curveball") made its way into intelligence dossiers used by President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair to justify an invasion of Iraq. "Curveball", Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, fed officials hundreds of pages of bogus "firsthand" descriptions of mobile biological weapons factories on wheels and rails. Secretary of State Colin Powell later used this information in a U.N. presentation trying to garner support for the war, despite warnings from German intelligence that "Curveball" was fabricating claims. Since then, the CIA has admitted that the defector made up the story, and Powell apologized for using the information in his speech.%5B18%5D A later congressionally appointed investigation (Robb-Silberman) concluded that Curveball had no relation whatsoever to the INC, and that press reports linking Curveball to the INC were erroneous.%5B19%5D
As Chalabi's position of trust with the Pentagon crumbled, he found a new political position as a champion of Iraq's Shi'ites (Chalabi himself is a Shi'ite). Beginning 25 January 2004, Chalabi and his close associates promoted the claim that leaders around the world were illegally profiting from the Oil for Food program. These charges were around the same time that UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi indicated that Chalabi would likely not be welcome in a future Iraqi government. Up until this time, Chalabi had been mentioned formally several times in connection with possible future leadership positions. Chalabi contends that documents in his possession detail the misconduct, but he has yet to provide any documents or other evidence. The U.S. has sharply criticized Chalabi's Oil for Food investigation as undermining the credibility of its own.
Additionally, Chalabi and other members of the INC have been being investigated for fraud involving the exchange of Iraqi currency, grand theft of both national and private assets, and many other criminal charges in Iraq. On 19 May 2004 the U.S. government discontinued their regular payments to Chalabi for information he provided. Then on 20 May, Iraqi police supported by U.S. soldiers raided his offices and residence, taking documents and computers, presumably to be used as evidence. A major target of the raid was Aras Habib, Chalabi's long-term director of intelligence, who controls the vast network of agents bankrolled by U.S. funding.
In June 2004, it was reported that Chalabi gave U.S. state secrets to Iran in April, including the fact that one of the United States' most valuable sources of Iranian intelligence was a broken Iranian code used by their spy services. Chalabi allegedly learned of the code through a drunk American involved in the code-breaking operation. Chalabi has denied all of the charges, and nothing has ever come of the charges nor do the Iraqi or U.S. governments currently seem very interested in pursuing them.[27]
An arrest warrant for alleged counterfeiting was issued for Chalabi on 8 August 2004, while at the same time a warrant was issued on murder charges against his nephew Salem Chalabi (at the time, head of the Iraqi Special Tribunal), while they both were out of the country. Chalabi returned to Iraq on 10 August planning to make himself available to Iraqi government officials, but he was never arrested. Charges were later dropped against Ahmed Chalabi, with Judge Zuhair al-Maliki citing lack of evidence.
On 1 September 2004, Chalabi told reporters of an assassination attempt made on him near Latifiya, a town south of Baghdad. Chalabi reported he was returning from a meeting with Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in Najaf, where a few days earlier a cease-fire had taken effect, ending three weeks of confrontations between followers of Muqtada al-Sadr and the U.S. military, at the time.[citation needed]
He regained enough credibility to be made deputy prime minister on 28 April 2005. At the same time he was made acting oil minister,[28] before the appointment of Ibrahim Bahr al-Uloum in May 2005. On protesting IMF austerity measures, Al-Uloum was instructed to extend his vacation by a month in December 2005 by Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, and Chalabi was reappointed as acting oil minister. Al-Uloum returned to the post in January 2006.[29]
In November 2005, Chalabi traveled to the U.S. and met with top U.S. government officials, including Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, Vice President **** Cheney, Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley. At this time Chalabi also traveled to Iran to meet with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
After the invasion Chalabi had been placed in charge of "deBaathification"—the removal of senior office holders judged to have been close supporters of the deposed Saddam Hussein. The role had fallen into disuse but in early 2010 Chalabi was accused of reviving this dormant post to eliminate his political enemies, especially Sunnis. The banning of some 500 candidates prior to the general election of 7 March 2010 at the initiative of Chalabi and his Iraqi National Congress was reported to have badly damaged previously improving relations between Shias and Sunnis.[33]
On 26 January 2012, the New York Times reported Western intelligence officials expressing concern that Chalabi was working with the leading opposition group in Bahrain, Al Wefaq National Islamic Society. A French intelligence official said, "When we hear that some members of the opposition are in touch with Hezbollah or with shady figures like the Iraqi Ahmed Chalabi, of whom we think he is acting on behalf of Iran, then this worries us".
This is a snippet from a  Huff Post Article from 2011.... They aren't real dazzled with the guy either...
It's ironic that only now, eight and a half years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, as the last American troops pull out, that we finally get a book dissecting the machinations of one of the men most responsible for that catastrophe: Ahmed Chalabi, the brilliant, treacherous, endlessly scheming Iraqi refugee who, from 1991 to 2004, played a singular role in contorting U.S. policy towards Iraq.
The book Arrows of the Night(Doubleday), written by 60 Minutes producer Richard Bonin, is based on lengthy and remarkably frank interviews with Chalabi as well as scores of others who dealt with him over the years. The result is a chilling chronicle of how this charismatic and totally amoral Iraqi exile, without any power base among his own people, was, at various times, able to con everyone from the New York Times, to the CIA, to the Defense Department, to **** Cheney -- even Iran's intelligence chiefs -- in his single-minded determination to overthrow Saddam Hussein and take power himself.
It is also an alarming tale of how a feckless American president, George W. Bush, buffeted by conflicting counsels of feuding advisers, stumbled into one of the most disastrous military quagmires in America's history.
....
In 1991, George H.W. Bush agreed to clandestinely fund an Iraqi exile group and Chalabi was picked to head the operation, receiving a stipend of $340,000 per month. Actually, as the administration and the CIA saw it, that move was just window dressing to make it appear as if the U.S. was really doing something to overthrow Saddam.
In fact, they had no intention of getting the U.S. involved militarily. Nor did they want a popular uprising that could have brought the majority Shiites to power, and increase the influence of neighboring Iran. What they wanted was to topple Saddam by a military coup and replace him with a more tractable government of Sunni generals.
But Ahmed Chalabi had different ideas. Rather than the CIA using him, he would use them. He deployed his secret U.S. backing to get himself elected leader of the exile group, the Iraqi National Congress, then started dictating policy to an outraged CIA. His plan, to take power himself after a popular uprising, protected by an American military umbrella.
It just keeps getting better and better..... Lord have Mercy.... I guess on the bright side, we can watch how many goo roos get all tingly excited thinking this great guy MUST be better than Maliki and start happy dancing at the prospect....
BTW the article other sites are quoting as substantiation that he is PM.... if you read the actual article that they themselves posted.... it says quite clearly he is being nominated for PM.... nominated...
The situation in Iraq is serious, and is probably going to get worse before it gets better. The potential for this recent action to morph
into a regional conflict is very high. That means that oil could go a lot higher, and if it does, we can expect the odds of a global
economic recession and an attendant financial crisis to go up considerably from here. Before we dive into what's actually happening over
there right now, we need to begin with a longer and deeper historical context of the region, which is essential to understanding pretty
much everything in the Middle East. The western press likes to report on things as if they suddenly occur for no discernible reason,
context-free and unconnected to our actions and activities over there. But the story of the Middle East is a story of intense external
meddling -- especially by the US, recently.
$1million for Lady Hochoy home
By Sasha Harrinanan Sunday, June 2 2013
click on pic to zoom in
2013-06-02-4-1_A_Reema_Presents_to_Lady_
From left, Sister Margarita Chan, manager of the Lady Hochoy Home at Cocorite and Sister Bertill Dean receive a computer from Reema Carmona, wife of ...
China’s First Lady, Peng Liyuan, yesterday announced a $1 million Yuan donation (just over TT $1 Million) of materials to the Lady Hochoy Home in Cocorite, during a visit to the school for children with mental and physical disabilities.
Spontaneous applause greeted the news of this unexpected gift while the Home’s Manager, Sister Bertill Dean, was observed beaming in delight.
Peng informed management they should “just tell our Embassy what the Home needs and our Embassy will be in charge of delivering the materials to you.”
The fashionable First Lady, who wore a royal blue dress underneath a long cream coat, then extended wishes of “great health and happiness” to everyone.
June 1 is Children’s Day in China, hence the timing of Peng’s visit and $1 million donation announcement while on tour of the Lady Hochoy Home yesterday afternoon.
Speaking to Newsday about the donation, Dean said “it came as quite a surprise. The materials will come in handy in bringing each of our homes up to modern standards, as set out by the Children’s Authority. I also hope to use some of the donated materials to begin construction of our vacation camp bungalow in La Fillette, Blanchisseuse.”
China’s First Lady exuded a sense of warmth and friendliness during her interactions with staff but she positively beamed when chatting with members of the physiotherapy group yesterday afternoon.
After the children sang “Love Makes The World Go Round” for China’s First Lady, ten-year-old Ayume Remy asked her for a hug and Peng happily obliged. Peng, who has a daughter of her own, then took the time to make sure Remy’s hair was looking neat before saying goodbye and heading to the Home’s auditorium where members of the LHH Boys and Girls Choral performed the popular folk song, “Mango”. Afterward Peng told the choral “your singing was beautiful and brings us a lot of hope.”
As a token of her visit, the First Lady handed out a few stuffed Panda Bear toys to members of the choral. Then it was her turn to be presented with a gift — a painting of a traditional wooden Colonial-style home. Keeping to schedule, the Chinese delegation concluded its 40-minute visit to LHH at precisely 4 pm but Peng wanted to say a few words in private to Dean before she left, so the two women stood talking in the lobby area for a few minutes. Dean later told Newsday the First Lady praised “the good work that we do. She told me we’re kind of famous because she heard about us back in China. The First Lady also said children with disabilities need love too and expressed appreciation for the service we provide.”
The first question is where do you find this stuff?  The second question is why?
.
Speaking Of Which - Here Is Today's Tlar Ramblings ...
06/17/2014
Tlar’s Analysis & Comment - While the US media will start to tone down the drumbeat that Iraq has been lost, an announcement came out that another new bank will be opening in Basra. Article two. Oil production is continuing uninterrupted although world price have risen in the face of this crisis mostly out of fear.
The insurgents are still sitting in the desert north of Bagdad. The Peshmerga are sitting 500 yards from the "insurgents" at Basra, each manning a checkpoint just outside of the "fallen city" of Mosel.
The citizens of Mosel are coming and going but reports of early evacuations of the city by residents now are being reported that citizens are coming back into the city.
~~~

The Muslim scholars have asked the insurgents to be kind to the citizens and make sure to help them where they can.

They also have asked the insurgents not to damage shrines and to treat all religions the same. Apparently the "insurgents" are mostly following this edict from the scholars.

So what's going on?

 Yesterday I told you that there are estimated to be only 3-5000 real insurgents. So how is it that a country of 33 million is being taken over by this few people?

Also yesterday I sent you an article written by Stevenson of the European Union who was speculating that this was not a country being taken over by religious fanatical terrorists but rather a popular uprising against the Maliki government.

Maliki refuses to leave in the face of countries all over the world telling him to get out. He lost the election but still he stays. He has lost his immunity but still he stays. This morning he announces that he doesn't need emergency powers because he already has them under a law he tried to push through parliament a while back,

THE NATIONAL SAFETY LAW.

Parliament did not approve such a law. This morning the legal guys in Iraq have said this is another illegal move to stay in power and that it does not give him any powers to act as though a state of emergency exists.

An MP from the State of Law, Maliki's own political party, either acting on his own or representing his party, announced that the new government should be formed quickly and that the new government being non-sectarian will better solve this crisis. This guy is from Maliki's party saying, "get it done and change the government."

None of these things will stop the progress of forming a new government. No doubt Maliki will do more stupid things, some more dangerous than others. This is not over. So far since this started there has been one attempt on his life. I expect to see more in the near future.

 No matter what, the new government will be formed. We have seen only one article so far that the NA chose Chalabi as their PM. Originally I thought maybe it had been released early and it was pulled.

It turns out the newsite that released it went down right after it was released and that the article is most likely a good article. More on this later as to if it was a technical glitch or something more serious as the news comes out.

Maliki has been attempting to control the press. The press in Iraq is closer to the truth of what's going on and it has been reporting the articles damning Maliki as the cause of this crisis. Guys like Maliki have to hide the truth or they are exposed for what they are, so I expect to see his goons intimidating both independent news organizations and journalists themselves writing in articles today or tomorrow.

This is his second attempt to control the press since he took office. The first in 2010 failed when the US stepped in and threatened him because he was attempting to shut down all news agencies except his government mouth organ. This guy is a dictator in his mind and he is nuts. He has a corrupt element in his army still taking orders from him. So this is not over but it should be over very soon.

The next government will be formed before the end of the month. Maliki will be out. The country will rid itself of insurgents. Maliki will most likely end as so many dictators seem to do. He will probably go down fighting because he is an egomaniac. IMO he will be dead before the end of the month unless he finally leaves the country.

Jtdinar:                Hate to say it but same old, same old. Maliki is still running the show. How is that? I'm beginning to think he is going no where as he should have been gone by now. This could all be part of a larger plan to keep him in office. The outrage produced would demand change here to for in the shape of The Biden Plan aka the 3 State Solution.

You cannot rule this out and the longer M stays the more I think this WILL happen...... Before anyone bashes me as a Maliki supporter, let me assure you I could give a rats ass who takes the PM position. They are all corrupt in one way, two ways or nine different ways to Sunday.

I just want this ride over with so that the true work can begin with needy people being helped by those who will pay it forward. -        Jtdinar still here...still waiting

Tlar:   jtdinar, you are both right and wrong.  First he should not be gone because he is the head of what should be a caretaker government.  So until the new government is seated he should stay, otherwise there is no government.  What he should be doing is to publically concede this election to the opposition.  He has not done that.  That is the problem.  He still is fighting the obvious.

I am going to tell you all something that I probably should not tell you because I know it will solicit many questions that I cannot yet answer.  I will tell you anyway.

Yesterday after Maliki had already announced that he did not need a state of emergency because he had those same powers under the National Safety Law, he got paid a visit by officials from our government.  The two gentlemen who sat with him "advised" him to publically resign.

 He has not done it yet but I believe there is a good chance he will.  The US government is waiting for his response and is strategizing its next move if he does not resign.  I feel comfortable that the stakes will get higher and tougher if he does not comply.

Maliki has to understand he has lost this election and this cannot continue any longer.  The cost to the country is too high.

Meanwhile the coalition is meeting to discuss their next move which should be to call parliament into session and begin the process of building a government of reconciliation.

That's about all I can tell you other than Maliki understands power because guys like him feed on it.  So I am very hopeful for a positive response from him in the next 24 hours.

Thug a licious... I'm on to you brother.... You posted this just so you could test that brand spankin new stop watch and see how fast I would climb up the wall in response... uh huh... you did huh... :lol: :lol:

Just like so many other times, its really hard to pick my favorite sentence group... for tonight's pick, I'm going to have to quote this one from today's Tlar chat...

So what you are  saying here, is that you are high enough to have access to information not only as to who visits Maliki's office... but what they are saying while sitting in Maliki's  office in discussion with him... Apart from the obvious observation that you should therein be able to tell us a hellva lot more about the exact discussion Maliki has had with the CBI about the RV...one has to wonder why you have to bother relying on or quoting any article about anything Iraq, when you apparently have Maliki's office wired....

And hopefully you are not implying that you are high enough in some government position to have this information.... Even the newest newbie knows if you are that high, you have put considerable time in to get there, and federal  government retirement is sweet.  No one  trying to sound that smart would be that stupid to be blabbidty blabbing about dinar in some chat room, risking the entire pension you've worked so hard to get...

Unfortunately in trying to sound all secret squirrel covert, you've basically proven you are not evenly remotely connected as such...

Like so many before you, you put in just enough factual info to lay a foundation of possible credibility, which you totally blow to helll and back when you start ad-libbing in the attempt to convince folks you know more than you do, or somehow better understand a country than the people in charge of running it...

Its really okay to have an opinion or tell people what you think... but when you try to dress is up with an air of official authority, then you should either be arrested and criminally charged with summary dismissal... or simply be honest with everyone and state its your opinion and why you reached it... And sure you might lose some of your specialness in the eyes of some.....But frankly, in my opinion that would be far better than being banished  to the German montain tops with Mtn Goat and Okie...  Those hills will eventually get really really cold...  .
