San Diego Police Chief William Lansdowne is fully supportive of the Obama/Feinstein gun grab, and says if lawmakers play it right Americans can be completely disarmed within "a generation."

Lansdowne has gone on record saying: "I could not be more supportive of the president for taking the position he has. I think it's courageous with the politics involved in this process. [And] I think it's going to eventually make the country safer."

He made it clear that it may take "a generation," but new laws could eventually take all guns off the streets.

This is quite a departure from other law enforcement personnel we've seen around the country--particularly Sheriffs--who've come out firmly against any infringement on the 2nd Amendment. We've cheered those officials for standing with the people, and now Lansdowne has taken a position completely opposite them.

Moreover, Lansdowne has also been slamming the NRA in interviews. And he seems overtly thrilled at the money the NRA is being forced to spend to get their message out in the wake of the crime at Sandy Hook Elementary. "We broke the NRA," says Lansdowne.

Another socialist. This time, in the form of a sheriff. What I don't understand, is how the object takes the brunt and the criminal slides. If you look at crime and punishment, Sherrif Joe Arpiao has a recidivisim rate of about 5%. In other words, a criminal who commits a crime and goes to Joe's greyrock hotel, only comes back about 5% of the time, and commits a crime in his county. They go commit crimes elsewhere, because Joe expects them to pay the price for what they did. If more sherrifs, like this clown, would adopt Joe's philosophy, and actually punish criminals for their behavior, you might see crime on the wane. Instead, they attack law abiding citizens rights. It's still about a government who's getting too big and too powerful. The power needs to be with the states and not the feds. Just my opinion.

Do I see us heading toward a police state? Not in my lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!

I live only a few miles from the countries largest gun manufacturing plant. I should point out that I use to work there for! some 20 years till I had to retire for a medical problem. From what I am told by my friends that work there is that business couldn't be any better.

They can sell every gun that can build and that government contracts are even at an up tic. It dosen't sound like a country that is backing away from guns. As a matter of fact, it sounds like a country that is willing to rise up and protect its Second Amendment Rights.

My suggestion if I can offer one is this. The Gov should repair the education system in this country, thereby affording the chance for everyone qualify for what every job they desire. Instead of guns being used in a convienence store robberies dollar bills could be passed over the counters. Yes, you can take the guns out of the hands of the criminals and do it without damage to the Second Amendment.

Offer an education and jobs to all those that desire one, this in my opinion will go a long ways in reversing the trend of guns and crime that we are now seeing. Maybe someone else has a better idea, but a police state is not the way to go.
