Patriotic_mess
He's dropping charges and saying he's sorry, does this mean Hashemi will go back to his spot as VP?
fnbplanet
Good? This is great! It's probably not a done deal, but if it works out, it may clear the way for having the National Meeting before the Summit. Should we get greedy and hope the Mutlaq situation ends just as well? Dare we?
TennesseeCherokee
Glad all these other politicians in Iraq are getting Maliki by the short hairs. He's running out of options and knew that all these trumped up charges against Hashemi would never stick because they were all lies. uncirculd
He's dropping charges and saying he's sorry, does this mean Hashemi will go back to his spot as VP? Good question. As the world turns. Geez, who cares. Less fighting and now maybe they can get on with the more important. Erbil and RV.

Erbil and RV. The reason I ask is because having him back is one spot closer to a fully seated government.
uncirculd
Good? This is great! It's probably not a done deal, but if it works out, it may clear the way for having the National Meeting before the Summit. Should we get greedy and hope the Mutlaq situation ends just as well? Dare we? Yes we dare. I don't see that as a problem except Maliki is ticked. Maliki should not even push that. Mutlag did nothing wrong. He is allowed freedom of speech. And he said it like he sees it, he called Maliki a dictator. Maliki according to the constitution cannot sack him, he needs the votes in parliament. As far as we know, he don't have them. We can have an RV without a power sharing government. So, that is what we need. Maliki is holding on to power and does not want to share. If he would just give us the ministers we would have the government. Shabibi does not want to give the money to one guy. He wants a democratic government. Power sharing. Especially in that part of the country. If it is not in place and the currency Rv'd, they could have another Saddam. Notice how in December he did the same thing. kept saying he would tell us in December. Again, put it off. Now he is saying what is agreed in the prep meetings dealing with the ministers will be kept secret till the national meeting. Always a delay. Now he is probably looking for another rabbit in the hat to delay that. I don't know if he just wants to be a dictator of if he loves the attention. HopefulTxn
He's dropping charges and saying he's sorry, does this mean Hashemi will go back to his spot as VP? I didn't read it that Maliki was the one apologizing, but that Hashemi would avoid prosecution by giving up his post and apologizing to the people...

fnbplanet
The List has maintained that the issues of Hashemi and Mutlaq needed to be addressed at the National Meeting. Having BOTH of these problems solved may tempt Maliki to consent to having the meeting before the Summit, which he has been avoiding, probably for fear of embarrassment of it failing in front of the entire Arab world. If these issues have been solved, they can get down to the REAL business, of which the solutions may or may not have already been determined. Hashemi has not, as of yet, responded to this kind offer of an "out". The List will convene and decide for him, no doubt. If he opens his yap and says something stupid, the Kurds may give him the boot, as they have warned that he would be asked to leave if he were to embarrass them. IMO, look for Mutlaq's name to pop up in the next 24 hours. With these two off the table, the National Meeting would become "Erbil 2.0", Article 140, HCL, Peshmerga pay, maybe the Supreme Council. It would reduce them to just having the motivation to compromise, that motivation being riches, and progress for their country, beyond their wildest dreams. All of this happening before the Summit? Priceless.
