I am really not sure who I am mad at - Scarpa for posting it - me for reading it - or GET just for being GET. Ron, are you an entertainer, an informer, or a believer? I am confused by all of it. The part about opening a checking account and a 5013c, as if a non-profit could be done in an afternoon trip to town, which it can not, is where I stopped. A 5013c can take up to a year to obtain. I know - I have done it. I can answer one of my questions - I read their posts thinking there may be a glimmer of information to indicate they are for real. But I am wrong again. Sheepdog, FDIC accounts that were non-interest bearing, used to be insured to $250,000. A law passed last December increased the limit to no limit on the amount in the account that will be insured. At any regular bank that has FDIC insurance, open a FDIC insuranced, NON-INTEREST BEARING account and any amount can be deposited. This new law is in effect for two years. More than likely, your current checking or savings account is FDIC insured. Make sure it is non-interest bearing (that is the key, and also limits of withdrawals and deposits) account. Check with your banker. They will be thrilled to get your business. I suggest a small, local bank rather than the huge money-suckers like BOA, or Wells Fargo. If it is FDIC insured, give the business to the small guys that support our communities. VERY IMPORTANT: Talk with the VP or manager of your branch (not a TELLER) and let them know in ADVANCE that you will be wiring funds to this account. If you just drop a large amount into an account, it can be frozen due to the terrorists laws that are in affect. Advance notice will save you from this. Law suits are still open attempting to get funds that were frozen by the US Treasury. I hope this helps. I believe (correct me somebody if I am wrong) but it is supposed to be within 3 days of ratification. This is a procedure and not so much a step. The big step was getting the budget taken care of....next we need the ministers, HCL, Chapter 7, Kuwait agreements, and if the country does not blow up over the weekend, perhaps we will be getting somewhere.
