SOL = State of Law    NA = National Alliance

Tlar Comment:   - The SOL has held firm until today. They have insisted that Maliki is their nominee for over a month even in the face of the opposition from the SHIA COALITION, Sunni, Kurds, the clergy, the US, Europe, Iran, the UN and every surrounding Arab country.

The SOL consists of 95 MP's, 50 of which have already come out against their leadership saying they don't want Maliki. The SOL leadership has held firm that Maliki would be their nominee.

Their hope was to strike a deal for immunity for themselves, Maliki and the few hundred of people that have worked hand in hand with them stealing Iraq's wealth for the last 8 years.
~~~
  Maliki offered a deal yesterday to quietly step away asking for 28 consessions. In there was immunity for him all his theives, a security source assigned to him personally of 2500 guys that the state would pay for, a VP position, control of who is chosen in certain ministries, etc. etc. Obviously that offer was not accepted.
Their argument has been that the SOL is the largest block and that they alone get to choose the PM position even in light of the fact they had signed a document in 2010 saying the NA was the largest block which was witnessed by all the other signatories.
They are now saying the document they had signed was a forgery and not worth the paper it is written on. The courts ruled in 2010 that the NA was the largest block, not the SOL based on this paper.
 They have said they already ruled on it and don't want to hear the case again. Even so the SOL has stood firm that they are the largest block until now. Something must have happened in that meeting that has changed the dynamics.
To make a long story short, an agreement was just reached between the SOL and the coalition. Maliki will leave Iraq and each block within the NA (National Alliance) will recommend a candidate for PM and then the NA will vote on all and the winner will be the one who gets the most votes.
This seeminly puts the control firmly in the hands of the coalition as I am sure that they will block vote for Mahdi.
There was no nominee brought forth today for the PM position from either the SOL or the NA opposition.. Parliament held a meeting but the announcement of the PM position has been postponed until Thursday's meeting at which time the NA will bring forth one nominee (not Maliki).
If Maliki leaves Iraq as he has said he will do then at this meeting the Shia party will announce their nominee and Iraq will have peacfully had a transfer of power to the new non-sectarian government.
This coming weekend is still looking good for our investment to finally come to a fruition. I am keeping m fingers crossed. Tlar
Maliki's choice to leave Iraq ...... Abdul Rahman Al-Rashed
  [13:18] 14/Aug/05  --   Gaza crisis will not succeed in divert attention from the wars in Iraq and Syria, which may alter the course of the region, especially Iraq.
Iraqis have finally succeeded in achieving a smooth transition to a secure new government, supported by the majority of the Iraqi people. Thus folded page of fear and chaos, and open a new page, and a new era. To agree on a new government, and the presidencies of three new, save Iraq from chaos and division, and will enable the Iraqis to confront terrorist groups, and repair the relationship with all neighboring countries.
 Separates Iraq and this change is one step; appointment of a new prime minister. In Baghdad, politicians are still trapped Prime Minister stubborn, expired, Nuri al-Maliki.
 Having exhausted all the tricks, he said, he agreed to go out and the price is not cheap, although it is assumed that he will pay the price or go out by Anonymous. 28 put a condition, requesting immunity for him and hundreds of his followers, not be held accountable for corruption and crimes committed by them in the eight years of his iron rule, with positions and compensation funds and Real Estate!!
  Delayed Maliki frequently in dictations, he put conditions after the unanimous political and religious forces and external ejected, and no longer has what he is entitled to bargain it only granted immunity what, and even immunity may not last long if they later discovered more than what is known about the mismanagement .
A natural choice for the owners to leave Iraq if he seeks his safety, and prevents prosecution. Can travel to Tehran or London, for a few years until the storm subsides.
 His legacy is so bad as to be difficult to give him a definite guarantees.
 Blew in the litigation against his rivals, even forcing dozens of political insulation escape from Baghdad to safe areas in Iraqi Kurdistan, and the Jordanian capital, Beirut, and London.
But he has spent billions of dollars to build a presidential guard protected, does not protect Iraq and Iraqis
Raising the number of troops from the presidential to about six thousand seventy thousand were stationed in the capital, Baghdad, and the cost of his relatives manages guard, just in the footsteps of the former dictator, Saddam Hussein.
 This is the secret tyranny of al-Maliki and his rivals fear him, because he has the power of the military more than the regular state forces trained and equipped.
 Now, after a unanimous Iraqi forces to take it out, it became overused in his demands, in the hope that the figure remains politically difficult, dictations imposed on the prime minister and the new Iraqi government, which will cause in the battle to come.
Wants large amounts of money, real estate, and a force of two thousand and five hundred military, added to the militia, and the positions and powers.
 No one wants to be the outgoing prime minister insulted or be subject to retaliation, and this means that the only safe place to him after he left his palace, is to travel abroad, with a few countries in the world would welcome it
Preacher Man:: As, Kenneth Hagan said, "the patience of God, will drive the devil crazy !" thanks Tlar, I think it is only a matter of time.
Fred:   Wow, what a damning article. They finally got a gut full of Maliki. Well, at least the writers of this article. When his jet is seen leaving or suddenly one morning is missing from the flight line, then I will celebrate. Thanks Tlar for all your hard work and then sharing your opinions with us.
linda-in-oz:   What wonderful news for Iraq and us.
Mike:   Tlar, who wrote this article? I noticed that it didn't have a link and I'm hoping it's not just another coalition puff piece.
rissas dad:    I agree Fred.  This doesnt look like news but an opinion piece implying that a change or deal has occured.  Will have to wait and see Tlar.  Jafaari (leader of NA) is asking for a 15 day delay to arrive at a consensus nominee.  We wait some more.
Revbo:   It's all kinda up in the air, I think. Did you see Ralph's article that says Sistani ordered them to have a nominee by Thursday? Also, there's Tarik Harb, Maliki's lawyer and constitutional expert, who says it can't be done any later than Sunday, because the deadline is, technically, Friday,
and that, and Saturday, are days off, but he makes no mention of the Eid holiday argument that Jaafari, allegedly, is trying to invoke. I think they get a nominee on Thursday, but that could just be the hopium talking. Harb has been right about the constitutional issues so far, though, so I think I've got a pretty strong argument.
Ralph:   Here's the link and the author... & thanks Tlar!!
Maliki's choice to leave Iraq ...... Abdul Rahman Al-Rashed
tlar:    If you re-read the article slowly it seems to imply where the coalition threatens to take Maliki out if he does not leave.  There is seventy thousand Iraqi troops in Bagdad and 6 thousand private security forces belonging to Maliki.
I think Maliki was finally threatened to be removed face to face if he does not leave.  It looks to me like he was given a choice, leave ot be removed by force.  I looks like he chose to leave. tlar
Here's Some Additional Chat From Tlar - Ain't That Spiffy ...
CaptSpiffy    It was brought up yesterday by Delta that Maliki had gained some seats to get to 105. Now, a question that has come to mind is, If Iraq's constitution gives the PM a 2 term limit, then WHY is Maliki even in the picture??? Giving him a 3rd term goes outside the constitution all by itself.
     Why would the Parliment , the new president and the deputies even consider this?  Maliki is doing all that he can to gain immunity to avoid presicution, when eventually IMO, they will get him. I believe that will happen.   The President of the Parliment should nominate the new PM ASAP.
Rocko      The two term law was never passed. Maliki stonewalled it.
Tlar       Maliki had his guy in the courts ratify his ability to run for a third term.  tlar
Coalition forces will not vote for any candidate for prime minister from outside the National Alliance and discuss reject Maliki's nomination.
There is no doubt that the National Alliance and after the announcement of the formation has become the largest parliamentary bloc, according to interpretations of the Federal Court to the provisions of the Constitution and the judge that the biggest bloc in the Parliament is offering its candidate for prime minister in accordance with the timing of the constitutional,
 and here was our vote in favor of Dr Haider Abadi, Vice President of the House of Representatives as a candidate National Alliance and not for any other entity.
Thus, we see that any attempt to circumvent this sense, is completely unacceptable to us because it means the order of constitutional provisions in accordance with the size partisan and personal.
 The alliance of the Iraqi forces confirms the foregoing and announced repeatedly that he will not vote for any candidate for prime minister from outside the National Alliance,
and we demand the brothers in the coalition of the need to speed up the resolution of naming their candidate in accordance with the timing of the constitutional that would be acceptable to the other partners, according to a government program to be agreed upon in order to achieve the legitimate interests of and fair to our fans ,
 again expressing our rejection of the third mandate of Mr. al-Maliki and considered it outside the framework of any discussion.
Iran seeking successor to Iraqi PM Maliki: official
(Reuters) - Iran is trying to work with Iraqi factions for a replacement for Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to form a new government in Baghdad but there are few suitable candidates, a senior Iranian official said on Tuesday.
Iran has become the main power broker in its neighbor to the west since U.S. forces withdrew from Iraq in 2011, leaving the country in the hands of a Shi'ite Muslim-led government headed by Maliki, a key ally of Tehran.
 Maliki's critics accuse him of fuelling the Sunni Islamist insurgency that has overrun parts of northern Iraq, saying his anti-Sunni bias has inflamed sectarian tensions and allowed Islamic State rebels to cultivate support among Iraqi Sunnis.
"We have reached the conclusion that Maliki cannot preserve the unity of Iraq anymore, but Ayatollah (Ali) Sistani still has hopes," said the Iranian official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, referring to Iraq's top Shi'ite cleric.
 "Now, Ayatollah Sistani also backs our view on Maliki."
The official said Tehran's Iranian ambassador in Baghdad had held consultations with political factions and some potential candidates on the subject, but acknowledged that finding a suitable replacement for Maliki was difficult.
"There are not many candidates who can and have the capability to preserve the unity of Iraq," the official said.
Maliki's bloc won the most seats in a national election earlier this year but efforts to form a new government have been hindered by objections by other factions, especially minority Sunnis, to Maliki becoming prime minister for a third term.
Coalition-building has been further complicated by the rise of Islamic State insurgents who seized Sunni regions of northern Iraq in June almost unopposed, and have since declared a mediaeval-style caliphate enforcing austere sharia law.
Shi'ite Iran considers the Islamic State insurgency a major security threat and has increased its military presence in Iraq to counter it. At least three members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard Corps have been killed in fighting with Sunni militants in Iraq since mid-June. [iD:nL6N0Q90P8]
 The United States and other Western powers hope that Iran will use leverage arising from its deep ties to both the Iraqi government and a number of Iraqi Shi'ite shrines to help defuse the Sunni insurgent crisis.
BlueyesinLevis:  Hakim and Sadr have distanced themselves from Tehran all along.. that is how they got this far.. it was Sadr and Hakim who told Tehran to shove it... we aint sticking with your boy Nouri.
-Iran will always have some influence.. but I am hoping for a new era of Iraqi independence from the grasping tentacles of Shiite extremism from Iran.
Tlar:   Iran has no control other than to try to keep their finger in it.  Just like Obama has made statements like, "we are building a new government in Iraq," Iran is asaying they are involved in the hunt for  a new PM,.
Obama has no control and neither does Iran.  They are both postuing to try to appear to be in on the credit when a new PM emerges, as if they were instrumental.  This is an Iraqi decision pure and simple.  **~**~**~**~**~**~**
