Nouri al-Maliki: The "triple alliance" caused the outbreak of a "Shiite crisis"

Baghdad - people

The leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, said that the "triple alliance" caused a "Shiite crisis."

Al-Maliki stated, during an interview with our colleague "Ghazwan Jassem", which was followed by "Nas", after midnight Tuesday on Wednesday (6 April 2022), that "the framework will remain insisting on forming a coalition government."

He added, "The tripartite alliance said that it would proceed with assigning the president of the republic and therefore the prime minister, and we told them that we will use the blocking third (the guarantor) against you, and there were 3 attempts to hold a session with a constitutional quorum, but they could not."

Al-Maliki continued, "We (the framework) also cannot hold a session to pass the President of the Republic, and here the national responsibility emerges, and therefore we say we must return to the principle of the largest bloc and it is the prerogative of the Shiite component, and you disagreed as a response to the candidate of the President of the Republic and you must agree between you, and this is The difference between the components poses a danger to the political process."

Al-Maliki reveals some details of the recent "coordinating framework" initiative

Baghdad - people

The leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, revealed the details of the recent "coordinating framework" initiative.

Al-Maliki said in a televised interview followed by "Nass", after midnight Tuesday on Wednesday (April 6, 2022), "We launched an initiative, after the tripartite alliance insisted on excluding political parties from the framework, and the issue is not forming a government and naming names, but rather forming a government that provides services." security, and so on.

He added that "the political process in Iraq without political consensus, will result in the presence of terrorism, corruption, foreign ties and interference in Iraqi affairs."

Al-Maliki continued, "The framework initiative says that we do not allow the political situation to be formed only from the suggestions and commitments of the Triple Alliance, as well as the coordination framework. Our initiative addresses all components, not as happened with the Triple Alliance by addressing one party without the other."

He continued, "We have started moving towards the partners in order to establish the solid ground from which we can proceed towards the rest of the partners in the other components."

Al-Maliki added, "Now there are voices calling for early elections again... We hope that there will be a solution. Parliament does not dissolve itself... Who among the parliamentarians will vote to dissolve the parliament?... Is this the solution?"

"We reject holding early elections again or dissolving parliament," he stressed.

Al-Maliki talks about the "emergency government" and recalls the resignation of Abdul-Mahdi

Baghdad - people

The leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, spoke about the "emergency government", and while recalling the repercussions of Adel Abdul-Mahdi's resignation as prime minister of the Iraqi government, he revealed the content of a request submitted by the "framework" to Iran.

Al-Maliki said in a televised interview followed by "Nass", after midnight Tuesday on Wednesday, (6 April 2022), "We told the Iranians not to interfere, and they did not interfere until they came and said, 'Go ahead, take these pictures with any head of state' (in reference to Al-Khanjar and Al-Halbousi and their meeting with the Turkish president). )".

Al-Maliki added, "We are ready to give up the foreign will, and they (the tripartite alliance) should also give up."

Al-Maliki indicated that they "are going ahead with their project and do not want the intervention of any foreign country or the United Nations... and if we engage in this spirit, the political process will continue."

Al-Maliki continued by saying, "Adel Abdul-Mahdi's government did not start from the largest bloc, so we insist on the largest bloc. If there was a larger bloc, Adel would resign and the larger bloc would nominate a replacement for him, but this did not happen because there was no larger bloc."

And on the "emergency government", al-Maliki said, "I am speaking with great hope that the framework will provide maximum flexibility. We hope not to reach an emergency government or dissolve parliament and others."

And he added, "The state of emergency and the emergency government have a difference. The state of emergency is constitutional and is approved by the House of Representatives by a two-thirds majority. As for the emergency government, it is unconstitutional and the constitution has not addressed it."

What is the possibility of a military coup now?

Al-Maliki answered a question regarding the "possibility of a coup now", saying: "The map of the political reality is very difficult to reach a military coup, because the existing reality does not allow something called a coup, and it is impossible, but there are those who work on the axes of coups, and there are countries that want To change the situation in Iraq... and all those who tried failed."

Nouri al-Maliki: A government without 'consensus' will restore terrorism, corruption, foreign connections and interference

Baghdad - people

The leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, commented, on Wednesday, regarding the possibility of resorting to the opposition's coordination framework in light of the current political situation.

Al-Maliki answered in a televised interview followed by "Nass" (April 6, 2022), regarding the coordination framework's allusion in a recent statement to "recourse to the opposition," saying: "There are those who want to go to the opposition, so we said that whoever goes to the opposition should not. It is targeted, and our statement issued in this regard was what was intended.”

"We did not force one party to resort to the opposition, but the door is open for participation in the government," al-Maliki said.

However, the leader of the State of Law coalition said that "those who took the lead in assigning the formation of the government said that this side goes to the opposition, and this is unusual in the literature of the political process."

He added, "The framework never refuses to participate in the government, and if it refuses to participate in the government, there will be an imbalance in the political process."

And between, "If we go with the Sadrist movement towards forming a government, we will remain as a coordinating framework on the principle of supporting the independents and supporting the opposition without being targeted."

He pointed out that "the political process in Iraq without political consensus, the result will be the presence of terrorism, corruption, foreign ties and interference in Iraqi affairs."

Earlier, the coordination framework issued a statement after the end of its meeting, which was held to find a way out of the current political impasse.

The framework said in a statement received by “People” a copy of it (April 1, 2022), that “based on the legitimate, national and moral responsibility entrusted to it, the coordination framework is still ready for serious and constructive dialogue with all blocs and independents to get out of the state of political blockage, as the framework forces call on all loyalists.” To take responsibility and not insist on the equation of breaking wills, which would complicate the scene without success, and the only one affected by it is the Iraqi people."

He added that accordingly, the framework announces its vision to address the political blockage, which is based on several foundations that we list below. The framework will present its details in its dialogues with the political forces, and we summarize them as follows:

First - Commitment to the constitutional terms and registering the bloc with the largest number of parties to ensure the right of the component and the completion of national entitlement for the other components of the three presidencies, within a unified vision in which the framework and its allies, the Sadrist bloc and its allies participate.

Second - After announcing the most numerous bloc, the candidate for the position of prime minister is agreed upon according to the required conditions and criteria such as competence, integrity and independence, and that will be through a joint committee of the coordination framework and the Sadrist bloc.

Third - Agreeing on the government program within a specific time limit to be agreed upon, and whoever wishes from the winning blocs that adhere to the program participate in managing its implementation.

Fourth - The opposition within the House of Representatives shall monitor the government and hold it accountable for its mistakes and transgressions. The opposition is empowered to carry out its work properly and is protected in accordance with the law.

The framework reiterated the call to the rejectionists of its repeated calls for "cooperating in righteousness and piety and urging them to place the interests of the nation and citizens above partisan and factional interests."
