Al-Kazemi issues two orders and one directive regarding the Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital fire

Al-Kazemi directs to declare mourning for the souls of the martyrs of the tragic accident at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital

The Presidency of Parliament calls for an extraordinary session on Monday about the tragedy of Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital

On Sunday, the Presidency of the House of Representatives called for an extraordinary session to be held on the incident at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital in Baghdad.  

  

 

  

The Presidency of Parliament said in a statement that "Nass" received, a copy of it (April 25, 2021), "We call on parliament members to hold a session tomorrow, Monday, April 26, at 11 am."  

The statement added, "The agenda will include a discussion of the tragic accident at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital."  

On Sunday, the Presidency of Parliament issued a call for an urgent meeting to find out the causes of the "catastrophic" of Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, and hold accountable parties and figures who fall short and bring them to justice.  

The presidency said in a statement that "people" received a copy of (April 25, 2021), "We followed the tragic accident at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, which led to victims and injured dozens of hospitalized patients. And injured people, it calls the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee to an urgent meeting to exercise the supervisory role with the relevant authorities in the government, to find out the reasons that led to this tragedy, to hold the parties and personalities negligent and bring them to justice, as well as to follow up the aid of the injured due to the fire and treat them inside and outside Iraq and compensate the families Victims. "    

  

On Sunday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi issued strict directives to officials regarding the Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital incident, while requesting that the results of the investigation be disclosed within 24 hours.  

Al-Kazemi held an emergency meeting at dawn with a number of ministers, security leaders and officials at the headquarters of Baghdad Operations Command against the backdrop of the "tragic accident" at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, according to a statement from his media office.      

Al-Kazemi said, "The tragic accident that occurred tonight in Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital is a painful event. That is why we should have met on the same night and at this late hour to speak with you and our people clearly. Mercy for the souls lost as a result of this painful accident, we are instructed as martyrs, and we have also instructed to take care of the wounded." All levels inside and outside Iraq. "

At a time when the Ministry of Health is mobilizing all its staff to confront the epidemic crisis that afflicts the country and the world, with the available capabilities, and with governmental, representative, popular and charitable cooperation, in order to get out with the least losses, and in this critical atmosphere and circumstances, a major fire occurred in Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital on the Rusafa side of Baghdad.    

Civil defense teams are still at the scene of the accident, investigating the causes that led to this fire, which caused the loss of the lives of many of the incoming patients and their companions, and immediately the cadres of the Ministry, the Rusafa Health Department, Ibn al-Khatib Hospital, and the relevant support authorities saved more than 200 citizens of the sick patients, and it will be announced The ministry will later determine the exact numbers of victims and wounded.    

The Prime Minister decided to withdraw the hands of the Director General of Baghdad Health Department Al-Rusafa, the Director of Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, the Administrative and Technical Assistant of the Hospital and the Director of the Engineering and Maintenance Department, and to conduct an urgent investigation to announce its results to the public.    

In this critical and dangerous circumstance, the Ministry of Health calls on the media and the masses to join hands with the Ministry's cadres and supporting bodies in order to get out of the effects of this unfortunate accident and to find out the causes of its occurrence and not to contribute to any trends that disperse the effort required to reach that.    

The Ministry of Health also affirms that it will continue to perform its role and work in all fields in which it has been addressing since the beginning of the pandemic, backed by good and conscious efforts.    

May God have mercy on the martyrs and healed the wounded, and enabled the Mujahideen heroes from the cadres of the Ministry and the authorities supporting them to cross this crisis.   

  

The death toll from the Ibn al-Khatib hospital fire in Baghdad increased, on Sunday, with dozens of bodies recovered, according to medical sources and eyewitnesses.  

A medical source told "People" (April 25, 2021), that "the preliminary outcome so far indicates the death of dozens of victims in the fire that broke out in the pulmonary resuscitation floor (second floor) in the hospital, which consists of 3 floors."    

The source added, "Citizens and civil defense teams have recovered at least 20 bodies," noting that many cases of suffocation have been recorded.    

The source pointed out that "the injured were taken to the nearby Al-Zafaraniya Hospital," and the toll is likely to increase further.    

A local source told "People" that "citizens have evacuated at least 45 bodies."

Fire at Iraqi hospital treating coronavirus patients leaves at least 27 dead

A fire at an Iraq hospital treating COVID-19 patients has left at least 27 people dead and 46 injured, according to multiple reports.

Reuters reported that the fire occurred at the Ibn Khatib hospital in southeastern Baghdad. 

The head of the Iraq civil defense unit said the fire broke out on pulmonary intensive unit floor. Ninety people were rescued from the hospital, and the fire has seen been extinguished, Reuters reported. 

 

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi expressed his condolences on Twitter.

According to a translation from CNN, al-Kadhimi has also ordered an “immediate investigation” into the incident.  

“Mr. Al-Khadimi ordered an immediate investigation into the causes of the accident with the people in charge in the Ministry (of health) and he ordered to summon the hospital's manager, the security manager (of the hospital) and those responsible for maintaining the equipment in the hospital to immediately investigate with them on the background of the accident,” the Prime Minister’s Office tweeted.

Baghdad Governor Mohammed Jaber also called for an investigation, saying it was a “crime against patients exhausted by COVID-19,” BBC reported.

Iraq is dealing with a new surge in COVID-19 infections. The nation has averaged about 8,000 new cases per day, the highest average since the pandemic began, according to The Associated Press

The Washington Post reported that the fire many have began in an area used for storing oxygen canisters before it moved toward the patients.

The death toll from a fire at a COVID-19 hospital in the Iraqi capital Baghdad rose to 82 patients, according to the Iraqi Interior Ministry on Sunday, Anadolu Agency reports.

A ministry statement said that 110 patients were also injured in the fire that took place at the Ibn al-Khatib hospital in Baghdad late Saturday.

According to local media, the fire was caused by the explosion of oxygen tanks at the hospital, where coronavirus patients were being treated.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.

Iraq: Nearly 20 killed in Baghdad hospital fire

"The Prime Minister and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces mourn the martyrs of the tragic incident that took place in Ibn al-Khatib hospital in the capital Baghdad," al-Kadhimi's media office said on Twitter.

According to a statement, al-Kadhimi "ordered an immediate investigation into the causes of the incident" and to "summon the hospital manager, the security manager [of the hospital] and those responsible for the maintenance of the hospital equipment."

For its part, the Independent High Commission for Human Rights of Iraq, an official body linked to the Iraqi parliament, called on the Iraqi premier to sack Health Minister Hassan al-Tamimi and his deputies over the incident.

Mubasher: Today, Sunday, the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, chaired an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers. Dedicated to discuss the tragic accident at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital.

The Cabinet decided, according to a statement issued by the Media Office of the Prime Minister, to conduct an investigation headed by the Minister of Interior, the membership of each of the Minister of Planning, the Minister of Justice, the Head of the Integrity Commission, the President of the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau, and a representative of the House of Representatives / an observer member.

Al-Kazemi decided to investigate the Ibn al-Khatib hospital fire accident, identify the negligent and hold them accountable, withdraw the hand of the Minister of Health and refer him to the investigation, withdraw the hand of the Governor of Baghdad and refer him to investigation, and withdraw the hand of the Director General of the Rusafa Health Department and refer him to the investigation .

The Prime Minister directed the investigation to be completed within 5 days, and to submit a report to the Council of Ministers, directing the possibility of seeking the assistance of experts in the field of interior and health .

A fire broke out in the intensive care unit at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, southeast of the capital, Baghdad, yesterday evening, and the accident resulted in the death of 82 people and the injury of 110 others, according to the Ministry of Interior.
Medical sources said that the fire was caused by an explosion caused by "failure to comply with safety conditions related to storing oxygen cylinders."
The Council of Ministers decided, in an exceptional meeting today, Sunday, headed by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, to conduct an investigation headed by the Minister of Interior, and the membership of ministers, officials and a representative of the Council of Representatives, and to identify the negligent and account

{Local: Al Furat News} The Supreme Judicial Council announced that the Rusafa Investigation Court has taken legal measures regarding the Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital fire, which killed dozens of martyrs yesterday.
 

"The court decided to arrest the hospital director until the investigation is completed and the negligent parties are identified," the judicial media said in a statement, which Al-Furat News Agency received.
He pointed out that "the competent judge formed a working group with the Baghdad Crime Control Directorate to find out the circumstances of the incident."

Al-Kazemi vows to hold the negligent accountable: Neglect is a crime that cannot be tolerated
  
{Politics: Al Furat News} The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and the Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, chaired, on Sunday, a joint meeting that included a number of ministers and deputies, in the presence of the First Deputy Speaker, Hassan Al-Kaabi.
 

A statement by his office, a copy of which (Al Furat News) received, stated that "during the meeting, the incident at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital was discussed, and the government measures taken in this regard."
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Kazemi offered his condolences and condolences to the families of the martyrs of the tragic accident, vowing to "hold accountable all negligent people who caused this tragedy, and that they will receive their just reward."
He also stressed that "negligence is a crime that cannot be tolerated and for which the law will be held accountable."
Al-Kazemi stressed "the importance of credibility in every step the official takes," noting that "the Council of Ministers today, during its special session, issued several decisions, which included withdrawing the hand of a number of officials and referring them to the investigation that set a five-day period to complete it.
 The statement indicated that "the Presidency of the Council of Representatives decided during the meeting to assign the second deputy speaker, Bashir Haddad, as a member to monitor the work of the government committee formed regarding the Ibn al-Khatib hospital incident and follow up the investigation procedures.
