Targeting Erbil airport with a drone Targeting Erbil airport with a drone

For the second time in about two months, Erbil International Airport in Iraqi Kurdistan is under attack, but what is new this time is that it was carried out by a drone aircraft.

The region's counterterrorism service said that the airport, near which American soldiers are stationed, was attacked by a missile, while the residents of the city heard a powerful explosion throughout.

No party has claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes about two months after a similar attack targeted a military compound at the airport where foreign forces belonging to the US-led international coalition against ISIS are stationed.

In the February attack, two people were killed, including a foreign civilian contractor working with the coalition.

And the previous attack was adopted by a mysterious militia known as "Awliya al-Dam". The same group, which is a front for pro-Iranian factions in Iraq that has become part of the official state apparatus, indirectly welcomed Wednesday's attack, via channels on the "Telegram" application.

In the wake of the attack, the security forces closed all entrances to Erbil airport, according to witnesses at the scene, but the governor confirmed the continuation of the flights.

'Dangerous escalation'

The Ministry of the Interior of the Kurdistan region confirmed on Wednesday night that "it was found that the attack was carried out by a car bomb that was directed at the coalition forces base inside the airport."

The ministry stated in a statement that “after investigation and follow-up by the concerned authorities about the causes of the explosion that was heard tonight at Erbil International Airport, it became clear that the sound of the explosion was caused by a drone carrying high explosive TNT, targeting a center for the forces. Alliance International at the airport.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, and only material damage was caused to a building, she added.

For his part, the Kurdish politician and former Iraqi foreign minister, Hoshyar Zebari, accused in a tweet of "militia" of being behind the attack.

Tonight there was yet another #terrorist rocket - drone attack on #Erbil airport to undermine the security of #IraqiKurdistan . It seems the same #militia who targeted the airport two months ago are at it again. This is a clear & dangerous escalation.

- Hoshyar Zebari (@HoshyarZebari) April 14, 2021

He denounced a "terrorist attack with a missile and a drone, aimed at undermining the security of Iraqi Kurdistan," saying that the party behind it was the same that carried out the February 15 missile attack on the airport.

"It seems that the same militia that targeted the airport two months ago is starting again. This is a tangible and dangerous escalation," he wrote, while the pro-Iranian factions doubled their statements condemning the Americans, vowing more attacks to expel "the occupation", in implementation of a parliamentary decision more than a year ago stipulating the withdrawal of forces. All foreign from Iraq.

On Wednesday evening, a spokesman for "al-Nujaba", a faction loyal to Iran, said that "determining the danger to Iraq and how to deal with it is the job of the Sons of Iraq, who left by the millions demanding the departure of your occupation."

Southward attacks

While the authorities in Kurdistan spoke only about one missile that targeted the airport, an Iraqi security source confirmed to AFP that other missiles landed in its vicinity, one of which hit Turkish forces deployed for 25 years in dozens of bases in Kurdistan.

Earlier Wednesday, two bombs exploded as two Iraqi logistical convoys carrying military equipment for the international coalition passed by in the governorates of Dhi Qar and Diwaniyah in southern Iraq, according to security sources.

In total, 20 attacks, with missiles or bombs, have targeted bases housing Americans, or US diplomatic headquarters, since the arrival of US President Joe Biden to the White House in late January, while dozens of others have taken place before that for more than a year and a half.

Just a week ago, the US administration resumed a virtual "strategic dialogue" with the Iraqi government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi, who is also under threat from pro-Iranian factions.

Both the United States and Iran have a military presence in Iraq, as the United States leads the international coalition that has helped Iraq fight ISIS since 2014, and has deployed about 2,500 soldiers in the country. For its part, Iran supports the Popular Mobilization Forces, which are part of the Iraqi state institutions.

On February 26, an American bombing targeted the "Hezbollah Brigades", an Iraqi faction loyal to Iran, at the Syrian-Iraqi border, in response to the targeting of American targets in Iraq. US President Joe Biden said at the time that the US air strikes in eastern Syria should be viewed by Iran as a warning.

Erbil attack ... Iranian messages after "Natanz"

Free / Exclusive - Washington
April 15, 2021

Erbil Airport - bombing The attack is the second in two months

The attack on Erbil airport in the Kurdistan region of Iraq and other missile attacks that targeted Turkish forces in the region The militias behind them aim to deliver new messages to the United States and even to Iran's "friends", according to Iraqi political analyst Iyad Al-Dulaimi.

On Wednesday evening, Erbil airport was subjected to the second attack within two months, as well as reports of other missiles that fell in its vicinity, one of which hit Turkish forces deployed for 25 years in dozens of bases in Iraqi Kurdistan.

For the second time in about two months, Erbil International Airport in Iraqi Kurdistan is under attack, but what is new this time is that it was carried out by a drone aircraft
Earlier Wednesday, two bombs exploded as two Iraqi logistical convoys carrying military equipment for the international coalition passed by in the governorates of Dhi Qar and Diwaniyah in southern Iraq.

Messages
The Iraqi political analyst believes that the militias are trying to tell Washington, perhaps Israel, and even some Arab countries that "their hands extend to many sites in Iraq, whether American or even non-American."

He notes that the Iranian media tried a few days ago to promote that they had targeted a Mossad site in northern Iraq, but it turned out later that they were incorrect allegations.

The recent attacks are not separated from the bombing of the Natanz nuclear reactor, according to the analyst who spoke to Al-Hurra and said, “Iran is in a state of excitement due to the disruption of uranium enrichment for the coming months.” Therefore, “the Erbil operation is a response to consideration first and secondly to say that it is capable of To do a lot. "

Last Sunday, the explosion and power outages at the Natanz nuclear facility in Iran triggered similar operations, including the electronic virus known as "Stuxnet" that destroyed some of Natanz's centrifuges between 2007 and 2010, in addition to an explosion and fire that also occurred in it last July. , Resulting in the destruction of about three-quarters of the newly opened centrifuge assembly facility.
In total, the number of attacks carried out by militias against coalition interests in Iraq has reached about 20 attacks, whether with missiles or bombs, since the arrival of the US President, Joe Biden, to the White House in late January, while dozens of others have occurred before that for more than a year and a half. .

Only a week ago, the US administration resumed a "strategic dialogue" with the Iraqi government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi, who is also under threat from the pro-Iranian factions.

In the attack that occurred last February, the US administration responded by bombing targets on Syrian territory, what some saw as an American desire to avoid placing the Iraqi government in an embarrassing position.

The Iraqi analyst believes that these attacks generally do not lead to many human losses, so the new administration does not seem "in a hurry to respond to such attacks."

And he indicates that Washington does not wish to escalate with Iran or other countries in the Middle East, after it has pointed the compass at China as its greatest danger. "The Middle East is not yet a priority, because it has become a burden and a great cost," he says.

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden announced the total withdrawal of US forces and equipment from Afghanistan, starting next May.

In a speech on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden affirmed that "the time has come to end the longest war in the history of the United States," announcing the total withdrawal of US forces and equipment from Afghanistan, starting next May.
A US intelligence report published on Tuesday concluded that China's pursuit of becoming a global power "is the greatest threat to US national security," and pointed to China and Russia as the two main challenges, and also warned of the danger of Iran and North Korea.

The Iraqi analyst considers that the targeting of Turkey in Iraq reflects the "intersections" between Turkey and Iran in several regional files, most notably Iraq and Syria, "despite the rosy statements" between them.

He points out that the great Turkish support for the Azeris in the conflict with Armenia caused great distress to Tehran, as well as Iran's unlimited support for the PKK in northern Iraq, specifically in Sinjar, causing great inconvenience to Ankara and bombing these sites in coordination with the Iraqi government, in addition to the agreement between Erbil And Baghdad to expel these militias from Sinjar, which has not yet been implemented due to the "Iranian veto."

Al-Dulaimi believes that, with this latest attack, Iran wanted to send a message to Turkey that it "will not accept the implementation of the Sinjar agreement."

Iran is seeking for the Sinjar district to be a transit point for its militias between Iraq and Syria, while Turkey intervenes to pursue the PKK members stationed in it.

This file caused great tension between the two countries about two months ago when Iran's ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, stated that his country “does not accept the presence of foreign forces in Iraq ... and Turkish forces must not be in any way a threat to Iraqi lands, nor should they be established.” Occupy it. "

The Turkish response came by summoning the Tehran ambassador, and Ankara's ambassador to Baghdad, Fatih Yildiz, stated that "the Iranian ambassador is the last person who can give Turkey a lesson in respecting the borders of Iraq."

It is amazing how we ignore these type of articles. I told you guys this was going to happen and some of you said that I was being negative. I believe Maliki and Iran are behind this like they always have been. I believe Iran will stop at nothing to get complete control of Iraq. Al Khdemi is proving to be weak or maybe he is in Iran's pocket because he is doing nothing about it. It is so sad to see the Iraq people die behind this foolishness and I feel sorry for them. I remember when one Iraqi lady said that the US invasion  handed the Country of Iraq to Iran and it is sad to say that this is the case. I don't think Biden will do a damn thing and Iran will continue to destroy everything Iraq has worked for. The UN, G7, World Bank etc can talk about the White Paper all they want but until this is taken care of no one will risk their life to invest in Iraq and Iran will make sure of it. Iraq signed a 5 year investment deal with Iran and that just proves how stupid they really. Also, they have the audacity to arrange for the US to remove Soldiers from Iraq. It pains me to say this but if nothing is done ASAP Iraq will be come a failed state and once the citizens start protesting that will be the nail in the coffin...DAMN!!!!

Ok, I'll handle this one.  I am NOT being negative towards GD07 mods!

First, Kazemi is not in Iran's pocket.  He has facilitated so much progress there in addition to extending the olive branch to the Kurds.

Second, who is this lady?  I don't think she lived in Iraq under the Saddam Hussian regime where he was killing everyone not on his side.

Thirdly, Iraq has to give something to Iran to make believe they matter.  It also keeps them at bay with their nonsense.  It can be much worse.

Fourth and lastly, The US is not leaving Iraq. Never gonna happen.  The US has way too much invested in this to walk away or be scared.

Smoke some weed or walk away for a bit.  This was getting to me a few years ago and I did just that.

We are almost there!!

Experts: America may take military action in Iraq, and its repercussions will be very dangerous

Baghdad - Mawazine News

Experts in the field of security believe that the military response by Washington alone or through the international coalition against "ISIS" present on Iraqi lands has become very possible during the coming period, while others warned of the consequences of taking this step on Iraq.

Last Wednesday, the United States of America called on the Iraqi government to protect its diplomatic missions in the country, threatening that it might have to protect itself by itself.
The US Consul in Erbil, Robert Waller, said, "If Iraq does not protect us, we will have to protect ourselves in our own way."
Repetition in attacks and an improvement in the method
After months of armed groups in Iraq using the pattern of missiles in their attacks, the country witnessed, in a precedent which is the first of its kind, a new pattern of using a drone carrying high explosive materials in the attack on Erbil airport last week, according to the Ministry of Interior in The Kurdistan region of Iraq, which security expert Ahmed Sharifi considered a turning point in the crisis in the country.
Al-Sharifi says, according to "Sputnik": "This process constitutes a turning point in the crisis in Iraq, when the drone is used, meaning that whoever was tampering with the use of Katyushas and missiles on land now has the ability to impose his will within a system of control and air control," pointing out that " This aircraft needs launch and follow-up rules and a command and control system, meaning that it has moved from ground operations to air operations, and this is a very big challenge to the country's sovereignty. In addition, the bases can secure a guarantor belt, and this belt secures it from direct and indirect fire. "
He added, "Now the threat has become land and air, and this is a very important equation for which we need to develop solutions, because if the national will fails, there will automatically be international intervention."
The American military response is very likely
Al-Sharifi believes that "all the data now indicate from the field that the federal government has been granted an opportunity from the international will, specifically under the supervision of the United States, to use its national resources to silence this field tampering with missiles or even promotional and inflammatory media rhetoric." International will that there is a deficit at the level of national capacity to silence these forces, and that the party influencers and parties are stronger than the institutions. They will resort to internationalization, meaning that options are open to the international will to take deterrent measures. "
He continued: "These measures may start with political steps and end with military action. The military possibility is possible, but in my estimation is very likely, because the United States has a mandate from the United Nations and the Security Council in two rights, the first right as a strategic ally of Iraq and the second right that it is charged with confronting terrorism, and every targeting it is classified." Terrorism under international law, and therefore the right to respond is guaranteed to the United States, and therefore, in my estimation, after the strike at Erbil airport, there will be military operations that may differ on the timing, that is, they may be close or somewhat far away, but there will be military operations in recognition that targeting airports is an integral part of a breach of security and peace International. "
The response may be airdrops,
and Sharifi expects that the US military response will be through airdrops to carry out arrest or pursuit missions.
He says, "About two or three months ago, the activity of the 60 American pilots between Iraq and Kuwait, who were flying Chinooks to excuse the Special Forces, was limited to 33 to 55 fighters, with a total of 60 aircraft."
And he adds: "This means that it provided an important and effective field combat capability, so the possibility that there would be incoming air strikes and that there would be airdrops for arrest or pursuit operations were also incoming because the United States always tends to be operations through airborne and airborne forces that are airborne forces to avoid Because of the situation of the ground operation if it moved by land, so all expectations indicate that there will be military operations. "
Who is responsible for armed attacks?
For his part, political analyst Fadel Abu Ragheef, according to the agency, believes that the common opinion is that groups loyal to Iran are behind the recent attack on Erbil airport.
Abu Ragheef says: "Frankly, I do not go with this opinion for several considerations first, because there are very strong commercial, political and economic relations between Iran and Erbil, and I do not think this is correct and I see that the matter goes further than that."
He adds: "Nineveh and Erbil are a very strong regional battleground. There is the Kurdistan Workers Party and there is the Qasd [the Syrian Democratic Forces]. There are groups that do not like the American presence and do not want it, and there are groups affected by the interference of the Peshmerga, and there are groups affected by the interference of the Iraqi army." A total of contradictions in an area that does not exceed 80 square kilometers. "
Abu Ragheef continues, saying: "I do not think that what is happening is the result of an Iranian-American conflict, because, as I said, the Iranians are in the best picture of their relations with the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The American military response will enter the country into a phase of violence
Abu Ragheef warns that the country will enter a phase of "violence and blood" if Washington takes military action against armed groups in Iraq. He says, "If the Americans do this, they will aggravate the situation more than it is, and they will enter the country into a phase of violence that has nothing to do with the Iraqis, and this will plunge the country into waves of violence and blood."
He continues: "These groups are part of Iraqi society and therefore I think that they have lines of communication through the political leaderships, and I think yes there is a continuation, as evidenced by the truce that occurred four months ago, and of course this truce did not happen out of nowhere. Certainly there is an understanding and communication that led to this." The armistice. '' Ended 29 / A43

Condemning this and not tolerating that....just lip service. Unleash the Dogs of War and Take care of it so people can raise their families and live in peace.
But no, gotta have the Bogeyman to maintain power and control over the masses because to do otherwise might put them out of a job.

Y’all know the rest of the story: we see the daily fear mongering and manipulation of the masses to keep them all in check.... so on & so forth.

This world has so much untapped human resource potential but it’s being run by people ( globally ) who are evil psychotics or just plain Nucking Futs hell bent on enslavement of a global population .

George Orwell ( amongst others ) was right....about everything. Look on the bright side, it could be worse.

Date: April 17, 2021

Today, Saturday, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced that two oil wells in the Kirkuk Governorate, in the north of the country, were subjected to sabotage. The ministry stated in a statement that two explosive devices exploded at two oil wells in the Bai Hassan field.

She emphasized that the two explosions did not affect the production processes nor did they stop the pumping of oil from the two targeted wells.

The statement did not accuse any party of being behind the incident, but indicated that the relevant and security authorities have opened an investigation to reveal its circumstances.

On the other hand, ISIS claimed responsibility for the bombing that occurred in a popular market in eastern Baghdad, which resulted in civilian casualties.

The Iraqi authorities had reported that a person was killed in a tire explosion that was carrying explosive materials in Sadr City, an overcrowded and sprawling neighborhood east of Baghdad.

expect these attacks to intensify as well the response by the US will be swift and deadly
