Prez Legal Battles Loom: What Trump v. Biden Portends—Echoes of 1876

By Lou Manzo | November 9, 2020, 7:51 am | in Edward Edwards
Manzo on the election.

Saturday provided another bad set of optics for the 2020 National elections. After mainstream media justifiably hammered the President’s campaign for making assertions of election fraud without providing any evidence, the campaign responded by calling a press conference to reveal some of their evidence.

But this is information the media really does not want to see, and seems to be determined not to let you see. At the exact time the President’s campaign began to reveal evidence, the mainstream media chose not cover it, nor allow their audience to see it. Instead, the media decided this was the right time to “declare” Joe Biden the President-Elect.

There is a dangerous pattern beginning to evolve in the news industry of late—news developing from choreography rather than spontaneity. Fodder for another day.

For an institution that has a reciprocally hateful relationship with the President, it had to be a sweet moment for the media. Though “declare” maybe a bit more of an authoritarian proclamation; the old Cronkite vernacular, “we project to win,” is long gone.

Of course, the mainstream media has no authority to “declare” any candidate the winner of any election, only the election certification process validates the winner. The media now hopes that, with some airtight State races still counting votes and legal wrangling looming, their projections are not as much off as their election polling was.

Now, as in any contested election, the legal battles kickoff. This one is a bit more historic. I spent the weekend speaking with election and civil rights attorneys that I respect. Trying to get a sense of what will be playing out over the course of the next few weeks, before the certification process finally takes place in each State.

The ultimate destination for where the President’s lawyers hope this will be resolved is the Supreme Court of the United States [SCOTUS]. But first, the cases will have to wind their way through State and lower courts where, no matter which party prevails, the loser will file appeals until the cases reach SCOTUS.

It is believed that no State Court will side with the President’s lawyers. Some, [Pennsylvania], has said no already. This is what will trigger appeals into federal district courts for relief.

Once at the federal level, no matter which side prevails, the lower court determinations will likewise be appealed until they reach SCOTUS. Will SCOTUS decide to hear the matters? They can say no. But it’s doubtful, especially since Justice Samuel Alito fired a shot across the bow of Pennsylvania’s Secretary of State’s Office, reminding the Commonwealth to segregate all ballots received that were not conforming with Pennsylvania’s voting laws established by its legislature.

SCOTUS has the option to separate or bundle all of the disputes headed their way. They can also choose which litigation they decide to hear—most likely, granting certiorari to only the matters that prove to have relevance.

The main issue before the Justices will be to determine the authority of any entity in a State to ignore and rewrite the laws of its legislature. In the issue at hand, the legislative bypass was to revise and invalidate election rules and regulations put into place by those State legislatures, authority expressly granted them through the U.S. Constitution. This seems to be the systemic link binding all of the cases together.

The Governors of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Georgia, and Arizona all bypassed their State legislatures and changed the statutory voting laws of their States. COVID-19 Emergency Orders were the pretense for the action taken by the Governors. All of these State legislatures are Republican dominant. All of the Governors are Democrat.

Other changes to some State’s election laws were made by State courts. On election day, and the days preceding it, Democrats filed hundreds of pleadings in courts throughout the country, all seeking to loosen election protocols established to protect the voting process. They will be part of the arguments in the President’s filings as well.

The President’s lawyers claim the laws that were revised disenfranchised voters who cast ballots under the provisions of the legitimate laws. They are claiming civil rights violations for unfair election practices. They contest the validity of ballots cast under the change in laws and seek their disqualification. There are as many as 900k ballots suspect in Pennsylvania, lesser amounts in the other states, but enough in each State to affect the outcome of the election.

Beginning as soon as today, the President’s lawyers claim they will begin filing their cases. They stated that they will submit more than 2000 affidavits, hundreds of eyewitnesses, and evidence [documents, ballots, counterfeit ballots, videotape, audiotaped conversations, and computer apparatus] supporting their claims.

The President’s lawyers will charge that: election observers [challengers] were prohibited from conducting their functions by State election officials, election officials intentionally backdated ballots, election officials failed to inspect ballots for signature authorization, election officials counted compromised and counterfeit  ballots in contradiction to law, and that computer software apps [Scorecard & Hammer] were intentionally attached to election tabulation software for the purpose of corrupting tabulation results to the detriment of the President’s candidacy in numerous States.

Some of the counterfeit ballot evidence is citing substantial numbers of ballots that only listed Joe Biden as the Presidential candidate [MICH. 115k, WISC. 62k, GA. 90k, PENN 98k, AZ 42k].

The latter charge and evidence concerning corrupting election counting software is jaw dropping and merits discussion of its own. Researching the matter. When I first heard about these particular charges, I thought it was tinfoil hat time for the lawyers making the allegations.

I was astonished to find out that a well-respected former Federal prosecutor turned defense attorney, Sidney Powell, was handling this part of the President’s case. Powell is as serious as a heart attack. She represented former Senator Ted Stevens [Alaska] against federal corruption charges. The case against Stevens was dismissed when Powell uncovered and charged prosecutorial misconduct. The court sanctioned the prosecutors. Powell recently represented General Michael Flynn whose charges were ordered dismissed by an Appellate Court.

Sidney Powell does not associate her name with frivolous legal proceedings. Keep a sharp eye on the litigation she is handling.

Whatever filings survive and land at the Supreme Court, it will all boil down to the legality of doing an end run around laws established by State Legislatures under the express authority of the United States Constitution. This is a hurdle the States will find hard to defend. There is a mix of lower court decisions regarding the authority and implementation of emergency orders issued by Governors.

The consensus is that SCOTUS will uphold the authority of the State Legislatures as delegated to them by the Constitution’s Election Clause. The Election Clause language is too tall of an order for the State’s Governor’s to overcome.

The ruling is easy—it’s the remedy that’s the problem.

The probability is that SCOTUS will disqualify the segregated illegal ballots cast in violation of those laws and redirect the election certification authorities of the States to implement the orders of the Court. If the illegal ballots are already in the mix, it would be impossible to exorcise them from the vote count. SCOTUS will go no further, but offer guidance on what the Constitution says how they can remedy the situation.

A matter like this occurred only once before in our country—the Presidential election of 1876. Historians recorded the election between Republican Rutherford B. Hayes and Democrat Samuel J. Tilden as one of the most contentious in our Nation’s history…well maybe not after this year’s election.

Election results in four States that favored Tilden were found rife with fraud. The Republican-dominated state electoral commissions subsequently disallowed enough Democrat votes and awarded their electoral votes to Hayes, who was then elected the President. The Democrats didn’t object, they sold-out Tilden in what would become known as the Compromise of 1877.

If SCOTUS rules that votes cast in violation of the laws of the State are illegal, the State legislatures will have to decide if they will re-seat the delegates to the electoral college. They have the authority under the Constitution to do so.

But we are far from the conclusion of the legal battle that will begin this week. It will have many twists and turns, and possibly expose some very ugly conditions in our election institutions.

The next several weeks are no longer about the Presidential candidates. Now its all about the system that ensures our democracy. An election challenge is nothing to be repulsed by. Like in Bush v. Gore, this is a tribute to democracy—we don’t resolve our disputes at the point of a gun. We resolve our disputes in a courtroom, applying the rule of law. The rest of the world marvels. Dictators don’t understand.

As Democrats or Republicans, we have a compulsion to root for our side. That’s fine. But as Patriots we must let this playout and support whatever the conclusion. If we only support the law or doing what is right for people we agree with, and we won’t support the law or doing what is right for people we disagree with; then what good is the law or what is right?

Stopped reading at 5. "Investigate Biden Only Votes".

GO RV, then BV

I am going to attempt to explain this to you so that you understand what a "Biden only vote" is.  It is not what you are thinking.

On a ballot each selection is considered a line. For example, a county judge position is being determined by the voters of that county. There may be fifteen candidates but the voter may only select one candidate. This is considered a line on a ballot. The line refers to the position(s) being filled by the candidates that appear on the ballot. All ballots usually have a top line. In a general election, the top line on a ballot is for the office of President and Vice-President no matter how many candidates are running to obtain the office of the POTUS. This is germane and you need to understand this before we go on. You have probably heard of the term "down ballot" votes. This refers to any office/position that a voter is selecting below the top line of the ballot. It was not until recently that a person could press a button and vote for one entire party. On my ballot this year I used that button then went back and changed one down ballot vote. So in a sense I did not vote down the entire party line. Again this is germane to the "Biden Only Vote".

If, and I reiterate, if a voter chooses, they can vote for only one line or many lines or the entire ballot. If they vote for one or many lines they are leaving other lines unchecked or they did not vote for them. This is called "under voting" because the voter chose not to vote for every line on the entire ballot. So if there was a choice for a voter to cast votes for a governor, a senator, a judge and the voter only chose to cast their vote for governor and leave the rest of the ballot blank then that voter has cast an under vote for that ballot.

This is important and germane because it can signify a potential voter integrity issue because in the case of "ballot harvesting"  these ballots must be created quickly/ Especially when there thousands of them to create and "harvest". To do so efficiently, ballots that are fraudulently created are often the ones that are deemed to be under votes as it is faster to fill in only one line on the ballot than multiple lines when there are thousands to create.

Under vote ballots are not just for paper ballots and the do occur on computer systems. However, since this election and the pandemic was an issue, Pennsylvania hadn't used paper ballots in some 20 years. Under vote paper ballots are much easier to produce than on a computer system. The clause "only Biden votes" could have been better phrased as under vote ballots but most would not know what is meant by an "under vote ballot"  and the wording that was chosen was probably wrong by this author. I am all for investigating all under vote ballots whether they be for either Presidential Candidate. However the fraud is purported on the side of the demoncraps and thus you have the author's phrasing.

Hope you understand what is meant by a "Biden only ballot" now.

I also want to state one more thing.

Under Vote ballot integrity issues can potentially be the reason why there is a an anomaly where the top line candidate loses but the down ballot same party candidates win. This occurs because thereare more votes against the top line candidate than for the down ballot candidate(s).This is anomalous in its occurrence because voter behavior trends show that it is usually the top line that determines the down ballot casting of votes. The situation where Trump loses but gains are made in Congress for the repubes is an anomalous occurrence and has never really happened before in the history of he United States. It is one reason why this is a contested election.

You are absolutely correct Theseus and the main reason is because when the Demorats are filling in the fake votes they don’t have enough time to vote down their fake ballots especially since Trump was leading by such a HUGE Margin they had to create hundreds of thousands of fake votes for Biden within a very short time period! Again these geniuses are caught anyway and I sure hope and pray they all go to jail for a very very long time....don’t drop the soap Demorats!! Lol

Another software program, this one from Spain? maybe Germany, called Scytl to watch for. Scytl is used globally not just in the United States. Pay attention to who invests in it and who owns it. More information on election software will be forthcoming as more and more evidence is showing reduction in ballots for Trump and increases in Biden  tally count. This means no recount, Trump loses votes and that same number is increased for Biden's tally count. For example, Trump has 310 votes and Biden has 250. A dump occurs and now Trump has 210 and Biden has 350 votes. This is being discovered as occurring more frequently in the early morning hours between 3AM and 5AM when people are sleeping.

US Attorney General Bill Barr has given his consent to conduct investigations into possible irregularities in the presidential elections on the third of November, which Donald Trump asserts have witnessed "fraud" without providing any evidence of them.

Barr, who is one of the closest ministers to the outgoing president, stressed that this permission addressed to federal prosecutors in the country does not indicate that the Justice Department has evidence of actual fraud.

"I permit you to investigate major allegations of major voting irregularities and count the votes before confirming the election results in your areas, in some cases," he wrote in his letter.

"These investigations can be conducted in the event of clear and credible allegations of irregularities that, if proven, could affect the outcome of the elections at the state level," he added.

After Barr issued these orders, the official in charge of the electoral crime department announced his resignation from his post, according to what was reported by several national media.

Richard Pilger explained his decision in an email to his team, saying, "After I studied the new rules and their ramifications, it has become unfortunately for me to resign from my position," according to what the New York Times reported.

Investigations of possible electoral fraud are usually the prerogative of every state that sets and oversees its own electoral rules.

The Ministry of Justice will not intervene in such cases until the results are confirmed and the recounts are completed.

Donald Trump's electoral team is waging legal battles in several states that Joe Biden won by a narrow margin, especially in Pennsylvania and Nevada, in an attempt to contest the results.

However, the Trump camp's efforts have little chance of reaching a conclusion, as many local officials have asked the Trump campaign to provide evidence of allegations of fraud.

I "under vote" every election cycle, whether by mail-in, as I did this year, or in person, which is my common practice....Judges for example are seldom well known to the public at large before a campaign season starts.  Without weeks of vetting and investigating the judgments of each and every judge running for the bench, it's impossible to make an informed decision...therefore, if I'm not satisfied that I've gleaned enough information about each candidate to make a choice, I leave it blank....as uniformed votes are worse than leaving blanks.  That said, I knew all I needed to know about both Trump and Biden...my vote for Biden was an easy one.

I do want to the thank the Republican Ohio Sec. of State for having the foresight and courage to send applications for Absentee Ballots to each and every voter on the rolls in Ohio unsolicited.....I believe it was a great factor in turning out the vote, as appears to be brutally apparent in most states nation wide.  Voting my mail in these days of a Covid pandemic was absolutely the right thing to do.  Had Donald thought it through, he may have encouraged his base to vote by mail as well....he probably wouldn't be in the losing position he finds himself in had he done that.  As always, just my opinion.

A general election for the seat in the Ninth Congressional district was decertified by North Carolina State Board of Elections after credible allegations of absentee ballot abuse arose. Officials became suspicious when 61% of the vote-by-mail ballots were cast for the Republican candidate, despite the fact that only 16% of the mail-by-ballot were registered Republicans. Multiple people, including the Republican candidate's son, expressed their suspicions that a political contractor illegally organized the collection of absentee ballots and completed empty mail-in ballots. The Board of Elections ordered a new election to fill the seat and the contractor was subsequently indicted.

Washington challenged the result, and following a trial in which live witnesses and forensics experts testified, the judge threw out eight absentee ballots that had been cast for Gill either because the signatures had been forged or they had not been notarized or signed in front of the requisite number of witnesses, and declared Washington to be the winner.

“The main obstacle to a stable and just world is the United States.” - George Soros

By Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh —— Bio and Archives--August 10, 2020

A socialist once said, “never let a crisis go to waste,” and it seems that the Covid-19 pandemic has offered such an unprecedented crisis that the globalists will gladly utilize to finally eliminate the U.S. as the only roadblock left to implementing their one world government goals.
Since at least half of the country agrees with the Democrats and their globalist plans, the only person left in the way which represents the other half of America that must be “persuaded” by any means necessary that one world government is best for the collective, is President Donald J. Trump.

THE GREAT RESET: Davos & the Plot to Cancel Trump

Come November, the globalists are giddy at the prospect that he is going to lose re-election by any means necessary provided conveniently by a viral flu which has spread across the planet.
When would globalists ever have another such serendipitous crisis and opportunity to turn 330 million American people into frightened subjects willing to lock themselves in their own homes for the foreseeable future and wear ineffective masks indefinitely?
We went from ’14 days to flatten the curve,’ to house arrest until we accept world communism with few protestations. We went from masks to constant media produced public service announcements (PSAs) playing on every station and website. The globalist and the domestic Left convinced its brainwashed sycophants that Donald Trump caused everything and even a paid rioter would be better president than he.
In a bizarre life imitates art category, a 2003 show called the “Dead Zone” played an episode in which the cast of characters were trying to deal with a viral pandemic caused by the Corona virus. The symptoms were eerily like the Covid-19 viral pandemic. The officials in the show locked down the affected area, quarantined everyone who encountered the afflicted humans, treated the sick patients with chloroquine, a malaria drug, and managed to save the world from a catastrophe.

Big Tech has been suppressing the truth and censoring those who dare speak

Joe Keller remarked, “The only difference between 2003 (the show’s pandemic) and 2020 (our real pandemic) is that the fictious government of 2003 did not suppress the truth, did not ban a medication that has been safe for 65 years, and gave the drug to everybody. And, of course, there were no Big Tech Companies that thought they were God.”
Big Tech has been suppressing the truth and censoring those who dare speak it, i.e., doctors, writers, journalists, average Americans on social media, and even the President of the United States.
The mainstream media does not seem to be the least bit curious why during a global pandemic, casualties from Covid-19 have not piled up in third world countries that have no sanitation, cannot “socially distance” their citizens, and are plagued by millions of malaria casualties who are treated with chloroquine.
The “cancel culture” movement has disposed of all celebrities, politicians, and any person with a job who has held a divergent opinion from the politically correct one of the left, a suppression of speech corrupt academia has been inculcating into their pupils and teachers alike for fifty years.
Joe Concha said about cancel culture: “You say something that the woke mob doesn’t agree with and you will be eliminated.” No public apologies, repudiations, and firings have quenched the thirst of the PC war against American decency, morality, and faith. The biggest victims so far are American history and statues of famous Americans accused of white supremacy and racism.

The left catapulted any imaginable accusation, legal and illegal, at President Trump to get rid of him and to install the much-desired Marxist one world government. They blame him non-stop in the media and on any other platform they can find, for creating the pandemic and causing the death of thousands of Americans/. Never mind that it was Democrat governors who denied their citizens any suitable treatment except ventilators, masks, sanitizing everything to death, and the promise of a hurried vaccine.
As it was expected, the left has failed miserably so far, and at great expense to American taxpayers, to “cancel Trump” no matter what they tried.
The globalists at Davos 2021 are giddy at the prospect of “canceling Trump” in November and, come January 26, they will be able to “reset the globe” with the “red” button to fit the ideology and plans they have concocted and refined over the years.
The World Economic Forum (WEF), a non-government organization (NGO), meets annually in Davos, Switzerland, a fashionable ski resort, to discuss the fate of the world. The 2021 theme is “The Great Reset,” for a world with a “sustainable and resilient future” without the U.S. in the way and without Donald Trump. This new social contract will center on “social justice,” the mantra of the Marxist movement.
The 51st WEF will convene in person and virtually, is by invitation only, and is quite pricey to attend ($28,000 per person). Global leaders from government, business, and “civil society and stakeholders” from around the world who subscribe to a one world government, will convene to discuss the fate of seven billion humans. Celebrities, billionaires, President Donald Trump, and even teenage Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg were invited to attend in 2019.

We are told that The Great Reset is necessary in order to build a new “social contract”

We are told that The Great Reset is necessary in order to build a new “social contract” that “lives up to the expectations of young people,” deals with the global health crisis, and reveals the “evils of racism and discrimination” and “the lack of equal opportunities and inclusiveness.”
Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the WEF, said that the globe “must move from shareholder capitalism to stakeholder responsibility…. Covid-19 has accelerated our transition into the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. We have to make sure that the new technologies in the digital, biological, and physical world remain human-centered and serve society as a whole, providing everyone with fair access.” WeForum
The Great Reset conference will connect with young people (11,000 Global Shapers and alumni) from 420 hubs/cities around the world (Global Shapers Community) for their “highly experienced” input into the future of the world.
What a great transition into global Marxism, using millions of young useful idiots mobilized by leftist “global media and social media networks.”

February 21, 2020 Turns out Hunter Biden was pretty useful for Burisma after all
      By Monica Showalter
So much for that well-worn chestnut that Hunter Biden "did nothing wrong," heard so very frequently during President Trump's impeachment hearings.
For an $83,000 a month retainer from Burisma, the corrupt Ukrainian gas company, (Betsy McCaughey says he ended up with a $1 million payday)  young Hunter proved to be very able and willing to make himself useful.
Look at this sequence of events that came about as a result of Hunter sitting on the Burisma board:
      According to National Review:
So the $83,000 a month retainer paid for something, and these emails suggest that Burisma got its money's worth.
Which would explain why Hunter got the board seat in the first place. A cashiered ex-Navy guy, he only got into the Navy at all based on the strings his dad, Vice President Joe Biden pulled for him. After the booze and the strippers and the cocaine washed him out of the Navy, he somehow ended up in that Burisma board seat, zero energy experience, zero Ukraine experience, zero consulting experience, all for that princely $83,000 a month paycheck.
With a story like this, now we know what he had to sell - a pay-to-play game that guaranteed access for any corrupt company that would put him on the payroll, goosing their access and influence to the State department and its policymakers. Hillarious Clinton ran the State department on a pay to play basis, up until her departure in 2013, and apparently her successors were little different.
Here's McCaughey's sequence of events as a reminder of just how this all worked:
It signals that President Trump was right to withold aid to Ukraine until this kind of behavior could be sorted out.
Democrats impeached him for that. This new information now shows that what they were really doing was covering up for a massive pattern of Democrat corruption.

50 Media Mistakes in the Trump Era: The Definitive List
by sattkisson on June 10, 2018  in News 49 Comments Wethe media have “fact-checked” President Trump like we have fact-checked no other human being on the planet—and he’s certainly given us plenty to write about. That’s probably why it’s so easy to find lists enumerating and examining his mistakes, missteps and “lies.”   But as self-appointed arbiters of truth, we’ve largely excused our own unprecedented string of fact-challenged reporting. The truth is, formerly well-respected, top news organizations are making repeat, unforced errors in numbers that were unheard of just a couple of years ago.
Our repeat mistakes involve declaring that Trump’s claims are “lies” when they are matters of opinion, or when the truth between conflicting sources is unknowable; taking Trump’s statements and events out of context; reporting secondhand accounts against Trump without attribution as if they’re established fact; relying on untruthful, conflicted sources; and presenting reporter opinions in news stories—without labeling them as opinions.     What’s worse, we defend ourselves by trying to convince the public that our mistakes are actually a virtue because we (sometimes) correct them. Or we blame Trump for why we’re getting so much wrong. It’s a little bit like a police officer taking someone to jail for DUI, then driving home drunk himself: he may be correct to arrest the suspect, but he should certainly know better than to commit the same violation.   So since nobody else has compiled an updated, extensive list of this kind, here are:     50 Notable Mistakes and Missteps in Major Media Reporting on Donald Trump
      1. Aug. 2016-Nov. 2016:
The New York Post published modeling photos of Trump’s wife Melania and reported they were taken in 1995. Various news outlets relied on that date to imply that Melania—an immigrant—had violated her visa status. But the media got the date wrong. Politico was among the news agencies that later issued a photo date correction.     2. Oct. 1, 2016:
The New York Times and other media widely suggested or implied that Trump had not paid income taxes for 18 years. Later, tax return pages leaked to MSNBC ultimately showed that Trump actually paid a higher rate than Democrats Bernie Sanders and President Obama.     3. Oct. 18, 2016:
In a Washington Post piece not labelled opinion or analysis, Stuart Rothenberg reported that Trump’s path to an electoral college victory was “nonexistent.”     4. Nov. 4, 2016:
USA Today misstated Melania Trump’s “arrival date from Slovenia” amid a flurry of reporting that questioned her immigration status from the mid-1990s.   5. Nov. 9, 2016:
Early on election night, the Detroit Free Press called the state of Michigan for Hillarious Clinton. Trump actually won Michigan.     Nancy Sinatra via Twitter
      6. Jan. 20, 2017:
CNN claimed Nancy Sinatra was “not happy” at her father’s song being used at Trump’s inauguration. Sinatra responded, “That’s not true. I never said that. Why do you lie, CNN?…Actually I’m wishing him the best.”
      7. Jan. 20, 2017:
Zeke Miller of TIME reported that President Trump had removed the bust statue of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office. The news went viral. It was false.     8. Jan. 26, 2017:
Josh Rogin of the Washington Post reported that the State Department’s “entire senior administrative team” had resigned in protest of Trump. A number of media outlets ranging from politically left to right, including liberal-leaning Vox, stated that claim was misleading or wrong.     9. Jan. 28, 2017
CNBC’s John Harwood reported the Justice Department “had no input” on Trump’s immigration executive order. After a colleague contradicted Harwood’s report, he amended it to reflect that Justice Department lawyers reportedly had reviewed Trump’s order.     10. Jan. 31, 2017:
CNN’s Jeff Zeleny reported the White House set up Twitter accounts for two judges to try to keep Trump’s selection for Supreme Court secret. Zeleny later corrected his report to state that the Twitter accounts had not been set up by the White House.   11. Feb. 2, 2017:
TMZ reported Trump changed the name of “Black History Month” to “African American History Month,” implying the change was untoward or racist. In fact, Presidents Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton had all previously called Black History month “African American History” month.     12. Feb. 2, 2017:
AP reported that Trump had threatened the president of Mexico with invasion to get rid of “bad hombres.” Numerous publications followed suit. The White House said it wasn’t true and the Washington Post removed the AP info that “could not be independently confirmed.”     13. Feb. 4, 2017:
Josh Rogin of the Washington Post reported on “Inside the White House-Cabinet Battle Over Trump’s Immigration Order,” only to have the article updated repeatedly to note that one of the reported meetings had not actually occurred, that a conference call had not happened as described, and that actions attributed to Trump were actually taken by his chief of staff.
      14. Feb. 14, 2017:
The New York Times’ Michael S. Schmidt, Mark Mazzetti and Matt Apuzzo reported about supposed contacts between Trump campaign staff and “senior Russian intelligence officials.” Comey later testified “In the main, [the article] was not true.”     15. Feb. 22, 2017:
ProPublica’s Raymond Bonner reported CIA official Gina Haspel—Trump’s later pick for CIA Director—was in charge of a secret CIA prison where Islamic extremist terrorist Abu Zubaydah was waterboarded 83 times in one month, and that she mocked the prisoner’s suffering. More than a year later, ProPublica retracted the claim, stating that “Neither of these assertions is correct…Haspel did not take charge of the base until after the interrogation of Zubaydah ended.”    16. April 5, 2017:
An article bylined by the New York Times’ graphic editors Karen Yourish and Troy Griggs referred to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, as Trump’s wife.     17. May 10, 2017:
Multiple outlets including Politico, the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN, AP, Reuters and the Wall Street Journal reported the same leaked information: that Trump fired FBI Director James Comey shortly after Comey requested additional resources to investigate Russian interference in the election.   The New York Times’ Matthew Rosenberg and Matt Apuzzo, and CNN’s Sara Murray reported the information in sentences and paragraphs that omitted attribution, as if it were an established fact. The Washington Post’s Philip Rucker, Ashley Parker, Sari Horwitz and Robert Costa wrote news articles in the style of opinion pieces and from an omniscient viewpoint as if they were somehow in the mind of Trump. For example, they reported, “Every time FBI Director James B. Comey appeared in public, an ever-watchful President Trump grew increasingly agitated that the topic was the one that he was most desperate to avoid: Russia.” (Other reporters —Reuters’ Dustin Volz and Susan Cornwell— did properly attribute the claim.)    The Justice Department, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe said the media reports were untrue and McCabe added that the FBI’s Russia investigation was “adequately resourced.”     18. June 4, 2017:
NBC News reported in a Tweet that Russian President Vladimir Putin told TV host Megan Kelly that he had compromising information about Trump. Actually, Putin said the opposite: that he did not have compromising information on Trump.     19. June 6, 2017:
CNN’s Gloria Borger, Eric Lichtblau, Jake Tapper and Brian Rokus; and ABC’s Justin Fishel and Jonathan Karl reported that Comey was going to refute Donald Trump’s claim that Comey told Trump three times he was not under investigation. Instead, Comey did the opposite and confirmed Trump’s claim.     20. June 7, 2017:
In a fact-check story, AP reported erroneously that Trump misread the potential cost to a family with insurance under the Affordable Care Act who wanted care from their existing doctor.   21. June 8, 2017:
The New York Times’ Jonathan Weisman reported that Comey testified Trump Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Comey not to call the Russia probe “an investigation” but “a matter.” Weisman was mistaken about the attorney general and the probe. Actually, it was Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch (not Sessions) who told Comey to refer to the Hillarious Clinton classified email probe (not the Russia probe) as “a matter” instead of “an investigation.”     22. June 22, 2017:
CNN’s Thomas Frank reported that Congress was investigating a “Russian investment fund with ties to Trump officials.” The report was later retracted. Frank and two other CNN employees resigned in the fallout.     23. December 2, 2017:
ABC News’ Brian Ross reported that former Trump official Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn was going to testify that candidate Trump had directed him to contact “the Russians.” Even though such contact would not be in of itself a violation of law, the news was treated as an explosive indictment of Trump in the Russia collusion narrative, and the stock market fell on the news. ABC later corrected the report to reflect that Trump had already been elected when he reportedly asked Flynn to contact the Russians about working together to fight ISIS and other issues. Ross was suspended.     24. July 6, 2017:
Newsweek’s Chris Riotta and others reported that Poland’s First Lady had refused to shake Trump’s hand. Newsweek’s later “update” reflected that the First Lady had shaken Trump’s hand after all, as clearly seen on the full video.      25. July 6, 2017:
The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, CNN and numerous outlets had long reported, as if fact, the Hillarious Clinton claim that a total of 17 American intelligence agencies concluded that Russia orchestrated election year attacks to help get Trump elected. Only three or four agencies, not 17, had officially done so.     26. Aug. 31, 2017:
NBC News’ Ken Dilinian and Carol Lee reported that a Trump official’s notes about a meeting with a Russian lawyer included the word “donation,” as if there were discussions about suspicious campaign contributions. NBC later corrected the report to reflect that the word “donation” didn’t appear, but still claimed the word “donor” did. Later, Politico reported that the word “donor” wasn’t in the notes, either.   27. Sept. 5, 2017:
CNN’s Chris Cillizza and other news outlets declared Trump “lied” when he stated that Trump Tower had been wiretapped, although there’s no way any reporter independently knew the truth of the matter—only what intel officials claimed. It later turned out there were numerous wiretaps involving Trump Tower, including a meeting of Trump officials with a foreign dignitary. At least two Trump associates who had offices in or frequented Trump Tower were also wiretapped.     28. Sept. 7, 2017:
The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman reported Democrat leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi called President Trump about an immigration issue. Trump actually made the call to Pelosi.     29. Nov. 6, 2017:
CNN’s Daniel Shane edited excerpts from a Trump event to make it seem as though Trump didn’t realize Japan builds cars in the U.S. However, Trump’s entire statement made clear that he does.     30. Nov. 6, 2017:
CNN edited a video that made it appear although Trump impatiently dumped a box of fish food into the water while feeding fish at Japan’s palace. The New York Daily News, the Guardian and others wrote stories implying Trump was gauche and impetuous. The full video showed that Trump had simply followed the lead of Japan’s Prime Minister.      31. Nov. 29, 2017:
Newsweek’s Chris Riotta claimed Ivanka Trump “plagiarized” one of her own speeches. In fact, plagiarizing one’s own work is impossible since plagiarism is when a writer steals someone else’s work and passes it off as his own.   32. Dec. 4, 2017:
The New York Times’ Michael S. Schmidt and Sharon LaFraniere and other outlets reported that Trump Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland supposedly contradicted herself or lied about another official’s contacts with Russians. The story was heavily, repeatedly amended. CNN, MSNBC, CBS News, New York Daily News and Daily Beast picked up the story about McFarland’s “lies.”
      33. Dec. 4, 2017:
ABC News’ Trish Turner and Jack Date reported that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort had recently worked with a Russia intelligence-connected “official.” But the Russian wasn’t an “official.”      34. Dec. 5, 2017:
Bloomberg’s Steven Arons and the Wall Street Journal’s Jenny Strasburg reported the blockbuster that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had subpoenaed Trump’s bank records. It wasn’t true.   35. Dec. 8, 2017:
CNN’s Manu Raju and Jeremy Herb reported that Donald Trump Jr. conspired with WikiLeaks in advance of the publication of damaging Democrat party and Clinton campaign emails. Many other publications followed suit. They had the date wrong: WikiLeaks and Trump Junior were in contact after the emails were published.   36. Jan. 3, 2018:
Talking Point Memo’s Sam Thielman reported that a Russian social media company provided documents to the Senate about communications with a Trump official. The story was later corrected to say the reporter actually had no idea how the Senate received the documents and had no evidence to suggest the Russian company was cooperating with the probe.     37. Jan. 12, 2018:
Mediaite’s Lawrence Bonk, CNN’s Sophie Tatum, the Guardian, BBC, US News and World Report, Reuters and Buzzfeed’s Adolfo Flores reported a “bombshell”— that President Trump had backed down from his famous demand for a wall along the entire Southern border. However, Trump said the very same thing in February 2016 on MSNBC, on Dec. 2, 2015, in the National Journal, in October 2015 during the CNBC Republican Primary debate, and on Aug. 20, 2015, on FOX Business’ Mornings with Maria.     38. Jan. 15, 2018:
AP’s Laurie Kellman and Jonathan Drew reported that a new report showed trust in the media had fallen during the Trump presidency. But the report that AP cited was actually over a year old and was conducted while Obama was president.     39. Feb. 2, 2018:
AP’s Eric Tucker, Mary Clare Jalonick and Chad Day reported that ex-British spy Christopher Steele’s opposition research against Trump was initially funded by a conservative publication: the Washington Free Beacon. AP corrected its story because Steele only came on the project after Democrats began funding it.   40. March 8, 2018:
The New York Times’ Jan Rosen reported on a hypothetical family whose tax bill would rise nearly $4,000 under Trump’s tax plan. It turns out the calculations were off: the couple’s taxes would go actually go down $43; not up $4,000.      41. March 13, 2018:
The New York Times’ Adam Goldman, NBC’s Noreen O’Donnell and AP’s Deb Riechmann reported that Trump’s pick for CIA Director, Gina Haspel, had waterboarded a particular Islamic extremist terrorist dozens of time at a secret prison; and that she had mocked his suffering. In fact, Haspel wasn’t assigned to the prison until after the detainee left. ProPublica originally reported the incorrect details in Feb. 2017.   42. March 15, 2018:
AP’s Michael Biesecker, Jake Pearson and Jeff Horwitz reported that a Trump advisory board official had been a Miss America contestant and had killed a black rhino. She actually was a Mrs. America contestant and had shot a nonlethal tranquilizer dart at a white rhino.     Watch Sharyl Attkisson’s TEDx Talk: Is Fake News Real?   43. April 1, 2018:
AP’s Nicholas Riccardi reported that the Trump administration had ended a program to admit foreign entrepreneurs. It wasn’t true.      44. April 30, 2018:
AP reported that the NRA had banned guns during Trump and Pence speeches at the NRA’s annual meeting. AP later corrected the information because the ban had been put in place by Secret Service.     45. May 3, 2018:
NBC’s Tom Winter reported that the government had wiretapped Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen. NBC later corrected the story after three senior U.S. officials said there was no wiretap.     46. May 7, 2018:
CNBC’s Kevin Breuninger reported that Trump’s personal lawyer, Cohen, paid $1 million in fines related to unauthorized cars in his taxi business, had been barred from managing taxi medallions, had transferred $60 million offshore to avoid paying debts, and is awaiting trial on charges of failing to pay millions in taxes. A later correction stated that none of that was true.     47. May 16, 2018:
The New York Times’ Julie Hirschfeld Davis, AP, CNN’s Oliver Darcy and others excerpted a Trump comment as if he had referred to immigrants or illegal immigrants generally as “animals.” Most outlets corrected their reports later to note that Trump had specifically referred to members of the murderous criminal gang MS-13.     48. May 28, 2018
The New York Times’ Magazine editor-in-chief Jake Silverstein and CNN’s Hadas Gold shared a story with photos of immigrant children in cages as if they were new photos taken under the Trump administration. The article and photos were actually taken in 2014 under the Obama administration.     49. May 29, 2018
The New York Times’ Julie Davis reported the estimated size of a Trump rally to be 1,000 people. There were actually 5,500 people or more in attendance.   50. June 1, 2018
In a story about Trump tariffs, AP reported the dollar value of Virginia’s farm and forestry exports to Canada and Mexico was $800. It’s $800 million.     Politicians are often fact-challenged. But for us in the media— our whole business is in facts. And we’ve played too fast and loose with our own.
