Once they get the gas fired power plants installed an online the gas that they are flaring off will run these plants. Iraq has an abundant supply of natural gas which means it would cost zero to the country to run these power plants....not that it matters in Iraq but it's also clean energy.

The country's water storage is more than 8 times higher

Baghdad / Al-Sabah

The Ministry of Water Resources announced the rise of the strategic storage in the country to about 60 billion cubic meters compared to previous years, which reached rates of only eight billion, adding that the rise in these levels has cast a shadow over the marsh areas, where the percentage of submerged areas has reached 100 percent.

Minister of Water Resources Jamal Al-Adli said in a press conference: The ministry succeeded for the first time in delivering the water of the Euphrates River to the cities of Baghdad, Wasit and Amara, up to Qurna in Basra Governorate, indicating that the flow of the river is good and a large increase was recorded from its levels that did not happen previously.

He explained that the Euphrates River was sometimes referred to its tributary at levels from the Tigris River, but the current year is the Tigris River less than its levels compared to last year, noting that the Euphrates River currently supplies Tigris with 200 cubic meters per second, pointing to the strategic water storage reaching about 60 Billion cubic meters, after it was 8 billion cubic meters years ago.
He pointed out that this storage has now reached 46 billion cubic meters after consumption, as well as an exceptional summer farming campaign that was the largest, especially at the level of paddy farming and other crops.
Al-Adly pointed to feeding the marshes with large quantities of water from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, stressing that the ratios of their submerged areas exceeded 100 percent.
He mentioned that the Euphrates reservoirs, which are a modern dam and Lake Tharthar, have reached almost 100 percent of their water absorption rate. After the storage in Haditha Dam was about 600 million cubic meters, it reached nearly 7 billion cubic meters, and the Habbaniyah Dam contained 600 million cubic meters and currently it reached 3 billion cubic meters, while Al-Razazah did not reach for years, the water was dry, while currently the water is passed at 100 cubic meters per second.
The Minister of Resources stated that as a result of the large strategic storage achieved in the past year, the Ministry managed to make the agricultural plan 100 percent successful for wheat, barley and fodder crops, as irrigated areas reached 6.1 million dunums, except for the cultivated areas that reached 10 million dunums, unlike last year where they were 500 thousand acres.
In turn, Chairman of the Agriculture and Water Committee in the House of Representatives, Salam Al-Shammari, stated that the Ministry of Resources achieved a fruitful work by diverting the course of the Euphrates River to feed the Tigris River with local efforts and efficiency, and this phenomenon has not occurred in the past.
