Russia sends spy ship near US coast, deploys banned missiles at home, officials say

A Russian spy ship was spotted patrolling off the East Coast of the United States on Tuesday morning, the first such instance during the Trump administration -- and the same day it was learned the Kremlin had secretly deployed controversial cruise missiles inside Russia and buzzed a U.S. Navy destroyer, U.S. officials told Fox News.

The Russian ship was in international waters, 70 miles off the coast of Delaware and heading north at 10 knots, according to one official. The U.S. territory line is 12 nautical miles.

It was not immediately clear where the ship is headed.

Later Tuesday, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News that Russia had deployed ground-launched cruise missiles to two locations inside the country in December. The New York Times first reported that the Obama administration had previously seen the missiles -- then in a testing phase -- as a violation of a 1987 treaty between the U.S. and Russia that banned ground-launched intermediate-range missiles.

But Russia has pressed ahead with its program, apparently testing a Trump administration which has sought better ties with Moscow -- but is also fresh off the loss of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who resigned Monday night in the wake of a scandal surrounding his communications with Russia.

Adding to the aggressive actions, Fox News confirmed a report from The Washington Free Beacon that four Russian jets buzzed the USS Porter in the Black Sea on Friday.

"There were several incidents involving multiple Russian aircraft," Navy Capt. Danny Hernandez, spokesman for the European Command, told The Washington Free Beacon. "They were assessed by the commanding officer as unsafe and unprofessional."

The ship, the SSV-175 Viktor Leonov, last sailed near the U.S. in April 2015, an official said. It was also seen in Havana in January 2015.

Capable of intercepting communications or signals, known as SIGINT, the ship can also measure U.S. Navy sonar capabilities, a separate official said.

The Russian spy ship is also armed with surface-to-air missiles.

“It’s not a huge concern, but we are keeping our eyes on it,” one official said.

This action by the Russian military follows recent missile test launches by Iran and North Korea.

In the past, Russian spy ships have loitered off the coast of Kings Bay, Ga., home to a U.S. Navy ballistic missile submarine base. During the Cold War, Russian intelligence gathering ships routinely parked off U.S. submarine bases along the East Coast

In September 2015, another Russian spy ship was spotted near the U.S. outside the submarine base in Kings Bay.

Outside of U.S. intelligence gathering satellites monitoring the Russian spy ship’s voyage north, there are several airborne platforms along the East Coast that could be used by the U.S. military to monitor the Russian ship, according to one official.

Currently there are four U.S. Navy warships in the Atlantic off the coast of Norfolk participating in normal training, but none have been tasked with shadowing the Russian spy ship.

There are no U.S. Navy aircraft carriers nearby.

The USS Eisenhower, an aircraft carrier, is currently off the coast of Florida doing carrier qualifications, with young pilots making their first landings. Ike does not currently have strike aircraft.

Even though I would very much love to blame obama, in truth it was H bush, the village idiots dad.

obama and clinton fed billions of dollars worth of weapons, ammo, supplies, and cash, those two were so totally incompetent or intentional, right now it doesnt matter which, but after 5 years of US troops training clintons "rebel fighters", fully arming them, shipping them Humvee's, tanks,  communication equipment, etc, there were less than 40 individuals left, all the rest had joined ISL.

AL Qaeda was created by the CIA, it was the name of the data base that had all the names of the people we trained and armed to fight the Russians in Afghanistan, including one Bin Laden.

A reporter did an interview and used the file name, and then the media ran with it.

Not sure why I dislike obama more than bush, they both worked for the same boss, and both did their part  to advance the globalist agenda.

Maybe because even though both lied about being a Christian, at least bush didn't rub the lie directly in our faces.

Make no mistake though, they both were in it for themselves.

Remember the village idiot, when he was sworn in the first thing he did was open up off shore oil drilling and awarded contracts to all his buddies.

bush was responsible for the deep water horizon in the gulf.

Appreciate the vote, but not sure I agree with your Trump statement.

With little exception, America's politicians have been pawns. While it was only certain brainwashed individuals chosen to be "elected", there are less than a dozen past POTUS who did not covet power above all else.

With Trump I see a genuinely patriotic individual. I've already stated long before he won that he is not "perfect", but I don't think any of the other had the tenacity and fortitude to stand up to the illegal, manipulative, unconstitutional, and unethical left.

My stated hope all along was to demonstrate to America that We The People really do have the Power to control our destinies, and all we had to do was take it back from the politicians and government that stole it.

I have watched as Trump evolved this last year, he has made a lot of statements with meanings that have been missed, both by the reporters, and the public.

Of coarse being POTUS is one of the "ultimate" feathers for Trumps hat, but he can't let it go at just that, he will drive himself to be one of the greatest of all time.

America can't help but win as well in that deal.

So just because someone craves power and is a self-loving bore does not disqualify them from politics, actually, it's a prerequisite.

The trick is locating those whom love themselves so much they would readily sacrifice themselves for the greater good. I do believe Trump has that quality, but only time will tell. If all we do is allow idiots to be dismissive towards him, and us, then he will be left to discover his own course.

 

This BS confrontation from the left is not genuine or valid. Those are ignorant, self-serving, collectivists, who are malcontents no matter what direction we are going. There are a few truly evil America haters fueling them, like obama, soros, and the spoiled hollywood "elites".

Trump is a product of America, conservative principals on a capitalist platform.

It is the only system that can work without subjecting citizens to tyranny. America has been usurped, Trump is out to rout the corrupted government.

What remains to be see is the direction he goes, which will be effected by the genuine demands of The People.

If Americans unite as one, we can steer our country to become the democratic republic land of individual it was fashioned to be.

Pouring hate on Trump just because he cant walk on water only demonstrates a mind-numbing ignorance in the heckler.

Trump is right now standing on the brake, desperately trying to steer this country from falling off an abyss created by decades of socialist agenda, and anyone not supporting him is not only proving their treachery, but also spitting in their neighbors face.

Sitting behind a keyboard and crying about anything wont do a damn bit of good.

If anyone truly wants to have a better America then they had best get off their asses and do something about it.

Support the elected POTUS, RESPECT the decision of the majority of your neighbors, stop trying to destroy my, along with yourself, by fighting badly needed reforms.

Join in a PEACEFUL protest, destroying property, attacking fellow humans, screaming profanities, will only serve to further decay our society.

I posted a link to one of the conservative groups trying to organize Americans into peaceful protests on weekends.

Find one, participate.

We are all too busy working during the week, but if Trump sees his beloved "Moral Majority" standing up in support, we will help create our own champion.

We CAN help guide Trump, after reading some of his statements, I am fully convinced we can help bring about a constitutional America.

This is EXACTLY the same as getting him in, as IO warned you months ago, getting Trump was only the beginning, and I promised you we would someday look back the the arduous election campaign and laugh at how easy that was compared to the hell we would be going through.

Unfortunately, that "hell" is here.

Do you love America?
