Some 20 Islamic fighters were taking part in the executioner's outdoor lesson when he was killed by the elite British soldier - hiding 4,000ft away and using specially-designed 'wounding' bullets. A witness said the entire group of student jihadis then fled, deserting their cause after the ill fated training session at a small village in northern Syria. +2 The SAS sniper reportedly killed the ISIS commander while he was training 20 other jihadis (file photo) A witness told The Daily Express the SAS sniper was using a Dan.338 rifle with a suppressor to prevent any noise and flash giving away his position. Thaiexpat
Gotta hand it to the sucker: Teaching by EXAMPLE is the very best way. Lesson well-learned. Those students are so lucky to have such a dedicated teacher.
Xtaxguy
This sounds like the story told of an SAS soldier's action some years ago, for which he is now being investigated with a view to prosecution in UK for his failure to take the target into custody and extend to him all right under the Geneva convention. That bit of insanity was reported and extensively criticized on this site a month or two ago, but I did not investigate it further. Skeptical of the whole (or both?) stories. I've fired a few hundred rounds at 1,000 yards, with about 70% success v. a large bull's eye - 2 or 3 feet, I think. I fired about 20 rounds with a match grade Springfield '03 bench locked, and the hit spread at 1,000 yards was over 2 feet due to variations in heat waves coming of the hot sand, slight breeze variances, ammo difference (even though it was match grade ammo), barrel heating up, head space heating, etc., etc. At 1,300 yards, a first round hit, even with the better equipment 50 years after my time, involves a significant element of luck. But, we only hear about the hits, not the much more numerous misses. But, collectively we've taken thousands of shots, so there have been enough hits to keep those a-holes nervous all the time. Good job, well done!
