MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Islamic State, known as Daesh in the Arab world and prohibited in Russia, the United States and other countries, will be bringing in approximately $80 million per month by the end of 2015, IHS, Inc. research center revealed Monday. The researcher noted that the Islamic State makes approximately 50 percent of this revenue from taxes and confiscation in territories it occupies, and another 43 percent from oil sales. "One of the Islamic State's main sources of income comes from taxation on economic activity and basic services, including electricity, mobile phone networks, internet access, retail, industry and agriculture, within territory it controls," said Ludovico Carlino, senior analyst at IHS and also on the IHS Conflict Monitor team.
SocalDinar
December 7, 2015 — 4:49 AM PST Islamic State May Be Struggling to Fund Its Rule, IHS Says Signs are emerging that Islamic State may be facing difficulties funding its rule over parts of Syria and Iraq even as the group generates about $80 million a month from taxation and oil sales, according to a report by analysts at security consultancy IHS. “There are early indications that the group is struggling to balance its budget, reports of cuts to fighters’ salaries, price hikes on electricity and other basic services, and the introduction of new agricultural taxes,” IHS Conflict Monitor said in the report that’s based on open-source intelligence, including social media, and contacts on the ground. The jihadist group’s monthly revenue in late 2015 was about $80 million, IHS said. About 50 percent of that comes from taxation and confiscation, while around 43 percent is generated by oil. Drug smuggling, the sale of electricity and donations make up the remainder. U.S.-led coalition efforts to cut off financing appear to be working, with airstrikes significantly degrading Islamic State’s oil-refining capacity and its ability to transport oil in tanker convoys, according to the report. The group is still producing oil but its loss of easy access to Turkey after recent battlefield defeats, along with efforts by Turkish authorities to stop smuggling, mean it has been forced to rely on internal markets of Syria and Iraq. Tax revenues are harder for the coalition to target. Islamic State charges a 20 percent tax on all services within territory it controls, including on economic activity and services such as electricity, mobile-phone networks, internet access, retail, and agriculture, according to the analysis. The war against Islamic State has escalated in recent weeks following Russia’s military intervention to prop up Syrian ally President Bashar al-Assad, and the terrorist attacks in Paris claimed by the group. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-07/islamic-state-may-be-struggling-to-fund-its-rule-ihs-says
TLHUBER
I think we the USA are the ones getting the gas. We are helping to fund ISIS. I wouldn't put anything pass the Obummer Administration. Probably why we are not bombing the HELL out of Syria. Then of course you scatter the citizens all over the world, then you have free reign over the territory and if the have the profit sharing on Gas then you don't have to pay the citizens cause they are not there.
