Democrats are in denial. Their party is actually in deep trouble.

The Democratic Party is in much greater peril than its leaders or supporters recognize, and it has no plan to save itself.

Yes, Barack Obama is taking a victory lap in his seventh year in office. Yes, Republicans can't find a credible candidate to so much as run for speaker of the House. Yes, the GOP presidential field is led by a megalomaniacal reality TV star. All this is true — but rather than lay the foundation for enduring Democratic success, all it's done is breed a wrongheaded atmosphere of complacence.

The presidency is extremely important, of course. But there are also thousands of critically important offices all the way down the ballot. And the vast majority — 70 percent of state legislatures, more than 60 percent of governors, 55 percent of attorneys general and secretaries of state — are in Republicans hands. And, of course, Republicans control both chambers of Congress. Indeed, even the House infighting reflects, in some ways, the health of the GOP coalition. Republicans are confident they won't lose power in the House and are hungry for a vigorous argument about how best to use the power they have.

Not only have Republicans won most elections, but they have a perfectly reasonable plan for trying to recapture the White House. But Democrats have nothing at all in the works to redress their crippling weakness down the ballot. Democrats aren't even talking about how to improve on their weak points, because by and large they don't even admit that they exist.

Instead, the party is focused on a competition between Bernie Sanders and Hillarious Clinton over whether they should go a little bit to Obama's left or a lot to his left, options that are unlikely to help Democrats down-ballot in the face of an unfriendly House map and a more conservative midterm electorate. The GOP might be in chaos, but Democrats are in a torpor.

VIDEO: Democrats list their biggest enemies

Democrats have been obliterated at the state level

The worst part of the problem for the Democratic Party is in races that are, collectively, the most important: state government.

Elections for state legislature rarely make the national news, but they are the fundamental building blocks of American politics. Since they run the redistricting process for the US House of Representatives and for themselves, they are where the greatest level of electoral entrenchment is possible.

And in the wake of the 2014 midterms, Republicans have overwhelming dominance of America's state legislatures.

StateSenateControl-Post-Election-GIF.0.g

In what Democrats should take as a further bleak sign, four of the 11 states where they control both houses of the state legislature — Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Illinois — have a Republican governor. This leaves just seven states under unified Democratic Party control.

Republicans have unified control of 25 states. Along with the usual set of tax cuts for high-income individuals and business-friendly regulations, the result has been:

Admittedly, one of the Democrats' seven states is California, which contains more than 10 percent of the nation's total population. But Texas and Florida combine for more people than the Golden State, and the GOP also dominates Ohio, Georgia, and North Carolina — all of which are among the 10 largest states by population. Democrats' largest non-California bastion of unified control is Oregon, home to only about one percent of the American people.*

As of 2012 or so, Democrats thought they had a solution to this. Hard-right GOP governors in places like Wisconsin and Florida had become unpopular and were clearly overreaching — reading a wave driven by the poor economy in 2010 as an ideological mandate for sweeping conservative policy change. And that worked in Pennsylvania's 2014 gubernatorial election — Tom Wolf rode a backlash against then-Gov. Tom Corbett's hard-right policies to victory. But Scott Walker, Rick Scott, Rick Snyder, and even Maine's Paul LePage were all reelected. And while the old plan didn't pan out, no new one has risen to take its place.

The GOP is flexible

Liberals accustomed to chuckling over the ideological rigor of the House GOP caucus won't want to hear this, but one of the foundations of the GOP's broad national success is a reasonable degree of ideological flexibility.

Essentially every state on the map contains overlapping circles of rich people who don't want to pay taxes and business owners who don't want to comply with labor, public health, and environmental regulations. In states like Texas or South Carolina, where this agenda nicely complements a robust social conservatism, the GOP offers that up and wins with it. But in a Maryland or a New Jersey, the party of business manages to throw up candidates who either lack hard-edged socially conservative views or else successfully downplay them as irrelevant in the context of blue-state governance.

Democrats, of course, are conceptually aware of the possibility of nominating unusually conservative candidates to run in unusually conservative states. But there is a fundamental mismatch. No US state is so left-wing as to have created an environment in which business interests are economically or politically irrelevant. Vermont is not North Korea, in other words.

But there are many states in which labor unions are neither large nor powerful and non-labor national progressive donor networks are inherently populated by relatively affluent people who tend to be emotionally driven by progressive commitments on social or environmental issues. This is why an impassioned defense of the legality of late-term abortions could make Wendy Davis a viral sensation, a national media star, and someone capable of activating the kind of donor and volunteer networks needed to mount a statewide campaign. Unfortunately for Democrats, however, this is precisely the wrong issue profile to try to win statewide elections in conservative states.

Republicans have a plan

Any serious article about the prospects for Democratic Party policymaking in 2017 starts with the premise that Republicans will continue to hold a majority in the US House of Representatives. This presumption is built on four premises:

  1. The natural distribution of population in the United States tends to lead the average House district to be more GOP-friendly than the overall population.
  2. GOP control of most state legislatures lets Republicans draw boundaries in a way that is even more GOP-friendly than the natural population distribution would suggest.
  3. Incumbents have large advantages in House elections, and most incumbents are Republicans.
  4. So-called "wave" elections in which tons of incumbents lose are typically driven by a backlash against the incumbent president. Since the incumbent president is a Democrat, Democrats have no way to set up a wave.

One striking fact about this is that the presumption of continued GOP control is so solid that you don't even get pushback from House Democratic leaders when you write it down. Privately, some backbench Democrats express frustration that the leadership has no plan to try to recapture the majority. In their defense, it's not like anyone outside the leadership has a great plan either.

But this isn't just a parochial issue for the House Democratic caucus. It means that the party's legislative agenda is entirely dead on arrival at the federal level. And it's particularly striking that this stronghold of conservatism comes from the exact institution that so frequently generates embarrassing headlines for the GOP. House Republicans act extreme in part because they know they can get away with it.

The GOP, by contrast, has basically two perfectly plausible plans for moving its agenda forward. One is to basically change nothing and just hope for slightly better luck from the economic fundamentals or in terms of Democratic Party scandals. The other is to shift left on immigration and gain some Latino votes while retaining the core of the party's commitments. Neither of these plans is exactly brilliant, innovative, or foolproof. But neither one is crazy. Even if you believe that Democrats have obtained a structural advantage in presidential elections, it's clearly not an enormous one. The 51 percent of the vote obtained by Barack Obama in 2012 was hardly a landslide, early head-to-head polling of 2016 indicates a close race, and there's always a chance that unexpected bad news will hit the US economy or impair our national security.

Winning a presidential election would give Republicans the overwhelming preponderance of political power in the United States — a level of dominance not achieved since the Democrats during the Great Depression, but with a much more ideologically coherent coalition. Nothing lasts forever in American politics, but a hyper-empowered conservative movement would have a significant ability to entrench its position by passing a national right-to-work law and further altering campaign finance rules beyond the Citizens Unitedstatus quo.

VIDEO: Democrats on the biggest threat to national security

The first step for Democrats is admitting they have a problem

In some ways, the Democrats' biggest disadvantage is simply their current smugness. A party that controls such a small share of elected offices around the country is a party that should be engaged in vigorous debate about how to improve its fortunes. Much of the current Republican infighting — embarrassing and counterproductive though it may be at times — reflects the healthy impulse to recognize that the party lacks the full measure of power that it desires, and needs to argue about optimal strategies for obtaining it.

On the Democratic side, the personal political success of Barack Obama has created an atmosphere of complacency and overconfidence. If a black guy with the middle name Hussein can win the White House, the thinking seems to be, then anything is possible. Consequently, the party is marching steadily to the left on its issue positions — embracing same-sex marriage, rediscovering enthusiasm for gun control, rejecting the January 2013 income tax rate settlement as inadequate, raising its minimum wage aspirations to the $12-to-$15 range, abandoning the quest for a grand bargain on balancing the budget while proposing new entitlements for child care and parental leave — even though existing issue positions seem incompatible with a House majority or any meaningful degree of success in state politics.

Whatever you make of this agenda substantively, there's no way to actually enact it without first achieving a considerably higher level of down-ballot electoral success than Democrats currently enjoy.

But instead of a dialogue about how to obtain that success, Democrats are currently engaged in a slightly bizarre bidding war between Hillarious Clinton and Bernie Sanders to see whether Congress in 2017 will reject a legislative agenda that is somewhat to the left of Obama's or drastically to its left. The differences between them are real, of course, and at least somewhat important.

But the much more significant question facing the party isn't about the White House — it's about all the other offices in the land. The problem is that control of the presidency seems to have blinded progressive activists to the possibility of even having an argument about what to do about all of them. That will change if and when the GOP seizes the White House, too, and Democrats bottom out. But the truly striking thing is how close to bottom the party is already and how blind it seems to be to that fact.

* Correction: Earlier versions of this article said that Minnesota or Washington was the biggest non-California Democratic-controlled state, but in fact the Republicans control one legislative house in both of those states.

Oh to be a Republican... The party who picked Sarah Palin. To hate poor people. To want to rebuild the Berlin Wall in America. To let corporate welfare exist and destroy what's left of the middle class. To have Donald Trump as our greatest hope. To allow insurance companies to write their on laws. To allow the environment to evaporate. To crush the future of their own party by running it like it's 1962.

Yup, the Democrats have their problems, but compared to those on the right, I'll take progressive over bourgeois every time thank you very much.

Angler, your post would be a good, that is if all of your statements were not so easily squashed.  Instead, you pretty much prove the point made in the OP.

Dems have a lot to be proud of.  Instead of Palin they picked Obummer.  Twice (I guess you really can’t fix stupid)!

The Berlin wall was designed to keep citizens from leaving, not to keep illegals from entering.  A border wall would be the exact opposite of the Berlin wall, better compared to the Great Wall of China (I guess libs can’t use that comparison because it works).  Perhaps you could test it by leaving the USA and seeing if you get shot in the back by a border guard like in Berlin.

Dems getting as much if not more corporate money than Reps. But libs overlook this fact.

The Donald is not our greatest hope, he is just bringing up issues that the professional politicians do not want to discuss.

And in case you missed it, Obummurcare was written and passed entirely by Dems.  No Reps included in the writing of the bill or the voting to become law.  If it (rightfully) upsets you that the insurance companies were included in the adoption of Obummercare then face the facts and place the blame where it belongs, on the progressive Democrats.

Sorry to burst the bubble of your mistaken belief in climate change, but the environment is not evaporating.

As for liberal (not progressives, liberals) and bourgeois, I will choose a Constitutionalist over either anytime.

Like I said, other than these glaring illogical statements, you had a good post.  Enjoy your denial.

Like the OP said, they are in denial.

We "hate" poor people so much we are doing everything we can to help them learn a skill and be able to support themselves.

The dems hate poor people so much they condemn them to a life of poverty with no way out except drug dealing, prostitution, and gang wars.

.....and yet the Republican controlled congress can't seem to pull the plug on Obamacare.  Original blame goes to Dems.....Continued blame lies squarely on Repubs.  Perhaps you would like to enjoy a slice of denial, as well, RV ME.   :peace:

GO RV, then BV

Continued blame does in fact fall directly on John Boehner, and Mitch McConnell.

Boehner has killed numerous bills by constitutional members, refused to allow floor discussions, quashed issues in committee, and even went so far as to fire all conservatives that were chairmen of committees, replacing them with like minded RINOS.

You may have heard, Boehner announced he was going to resign. and when it became obvious his hand picked corrupted tool wasn't going to be reelected, announced the was "reconsidering" leaving, and might stay a little longer.

His puppet, who one day defiantly declared he was going to fight for his new Speaker position, then suddenly announced he was dropping from the running.

Since you have so obviously missed the meaning, let me enlighten your so very closed mind.

Conservatives have been in a pitched battle with the establishment toons for years.

Finally, we are winning.

Unless you bother to follow what issues are quashed, who is promised pork to support legislation, or what goes on behind the scenes, you will remain totally clueless of the insanity in DC.

They have built a completely different universe, full of power, greed, ego, deceptions, and lies.

Have you ever even bothered to read Jefferson's Rules of Paramilitary procedure?

It was only the starting point for what has become a quagmire of stupidity.

Even that has been revised at least a dozen times.

The bottom line, to blame all republicans for the actions of a couple corrupted jerks is like saying every teacher is a sex predator, didn't you mention your a teacher? Please tell me that's not fair, otherwise what does that say about you?

Sorry Shabs, straw man argument.   BA made the statement that Reps allowed insurance companies to write the law and that is 100% incorrect, the progressive Dems did exactly what BA appears to be against.  But I do agree with you that the Republicrats have done nothing to end the law which (as Dive explained so well) is why conservatives are fed up with Republicrats.

And Thanks Dive, thought you might like this cartoon.

gaff, intentional, or Freudian slip, at this point, what does it matter?

Of coarse it holds true, not all dems are moronic libtard brainwashed zombies. the problem is the libs only take, never give, and the ones that wake up become republicans or independents, because the entire dem platform is based on communism.

A big reason we are in this mess is because we kept waiting for the libs to finally acknowledge the flaws in their plan, except they just keep fanatically demanding more with no logic or reason.

How dare you accuse me when YOU are the one making blanket, open negative statements about the ONLY people in America actually trying to fix the issues?

If you claimed to be an independent I would hold out hope you may one day get a clue, but your fanatic republican bashing, refusal to bother to even try to understand the opposing forces in a battle for the Party, and unending stereotyping of all republicans, tell the entire world that what you claim is not exactly how you feel, and maybe you are just using those words to deflect.

Maybe from all your dismissive posts we are starting to realize your maybe a flaming libtard.

Don't know, hope not, but actions speak louder than words, and the way you jump to make outright incorrect accusations has left some wondering just how conservative you really are.

If your "left leaning" mean you are a supporter of communism in America, then I can promise you we do not agree on much at all.

if you are a "left" leaning constitutional, then I can understand your probably going through a several identity crisis, because those are polar opposites.

Is easy to see how we have all \been lied to by politicians, but if you are only mad at them because we don't yet have our lifetime jobs assigned at birth that will benefit the collective, then we are absolutely on different paths.

If you are not a commie, how the heck can you continue to try to destroy any thread criticizing the communist agenda?

No, it doesn't denote a "closed" mind, just a very, very, confused one.

Excellent toon.

And yes, you nailed it, the only one class of people I absolutely hate are the RINOS.

At least the commies are honest about their desire to control our lives.

But the RINO's don't just lie, cheat, and steal, they do it while acting like they are Christians.

Like Bush having a prayer meeting at 911 site.

Grrrrr.

They are most definitely not.

I would not mind sending a few of them to hell myself.

Both parties serve only their masters, bankers, corporations and the Military industrial Complex. I am still AMAZED that people in this day and age, with everything we know about both parties, still think that a candidate from either party will make everything "all better"...BOTH parties have grown govt out of control, both parties have suppoerted illegal wars for profits and sent our children to die, both parties are bought and paid for and don't give 2 shytes about America, you, or I. So please wake up and stop this 2 party bickering, it is what enables them to keep stealing our future. Only way things will change for the better is we unite and throw all of them out, and get any kind of $ or lobbying out of politics. Remeber when you go to "vote" you are giving your silent consent to continue their heinous actions no matter who you're voting for.....

Remember what George Carlin said:

IT'S A BIG F*%KING CLUB, AND YOU AIN'T IN IT!!!

Nice little rant.

Except you are missing one essential point.

There are only two ways to get this country back on track to a constitutional foundation.

Initiate a massive civilian war against "the government", or work to educate the peoples to claim their constitutional rights.

By your statement are you actually advocating a major offensive against everyone that supports the "establishment"?

Do you have any idea what that means?

Why are you so ready to kill anyone that doesn't agree with your position at the exact moment?

Why are you so willing to dismiss everyone that is a victim of the corrupted uneducational process?

You ignore the reality of the brainwashing and propaganda that is spewed at Americans in everything from subliminal suggestion to outright lies?

How do you have the right to decide who lives or dies?

Of coarse you don't.

If America were to break out in a civil war tomorrow millions of innocent humans would be killed.

There would be at least three "forces", all fighting each other.

It would be vile, heinous, and there may not be a clear "winner".

Most likely it would result in the USA being divided forever.

Why are you not capable of having any compassion for your fellow Humans?

Especially ones that are simply misguided through the indoctrination shoved down their throats by egomaniac "professors" who simply don't have room in their vile hearts to serve two gods, so serve themselves only.

Our "plan" is to educate.

A great many city dwellers simply are not capable of living within the boundaries of a sovereign individual society anyway.

Once any thinking individual understands the full scope of their rights, and more importantly, their responsibilities, they will usually chose freedom over enslavement.

Right now, the ONLY people with a plan to begin the process are the Constitutional Republicans, along with the Constitutional Independents.

If you have a better plan to help bring America back to her roots, please, by all means, speak up.

But if your only intent was to sound off on a pointless rant that does nothing to help America, so be it, there's a few other mouths here that only love to cause turmoil for no other reason than the attention they can manage to gain.

I am so tired of reading some tirade that has no other purpose than self-satisfaction I could puke.

15 years ago I threw in with a very small band of determined people, our mission was to help enlighten.

Spent years getting laughed at, doors slammed in my face, and having my words taken out of context.

There have been many who fought for their entire lives, never gave up, and died only able to hold onto their dream.

Now, for the first time in probably 150 years, America has a chance to overthrow the banksters that invaded our government 150 years before that and took control through corruption and greed.

This is probably America's last chance to ever become the freedom loving city on the hill.

And instead of helping, rather than be PART of the positive change, you would rather toot your horn for attention.

It is now or never.

It is obvious you act like  you want to live in a free America, so if your not going to bother to help, maybe you can save your soap box for another time.

I do not want to cause harm to my neighbors.

i do not want to stand by idly as entire generations of humans are subjected to a life of poverty just so some politician can maintain power.

I am calling BS everywhere I see it, because dismissive crap like shabbs off handed snarky criticisms against conservatives are in fact a direct assault against the very people trying to save this country.

Of coarse politics are corrupted, and for as long as the establishment is allowed to stay in power we will continue our decline into complete slavery.

If you are not able to look past your own issues to see the potential in having a truly conservative POTUS then I am sorry for your shortsightedness.

If we had a POTUS that supported the education required, that eliminated the polarizing divisiveness, that stood up to the inbred ignorance of political correctness,  that ended the fascism called capitalism in America today, people would begin to understand by the millions.

Only then, once each individual is fully equipped with the understanding of their actual standing, can we be free.

The thing is, not one bullet will ever have to fired at another living being.

The empowerment of just understanding will cause people to simply start demanding their rights, the police will know the truth and will refuse to arrest for what is not illegal in the first place, and any politician refusing to accept will simply be run out of office.

Sure, it's a long shot, maybe I've been chasing an illusion for all these years, but the dream of a free America is what helps keep me going every single day.

So please, if you are holding back on some superior plan that would change everything, by all means, spill the beans, because the rest of us ignorant slobs are running out of options.

Nice way to put words in my mouth and completely misinterpret my post....

Nice little rant.

Except you are missing one essential point.

There are only two ways to get this country back on track to a constitutional foundation.

Initiate a massive civilian war against "the government", or work to educate the peoples to claim their constitutional rights.

Education is key, and I firmly believe in truthful discourse between us Americans above all else.

By your statement are you actually advocating a major offensive against everyone that supports the "establishment"?
Do you actually think that our government will willing vacate their seats, along with their masters who currently own them?

Do you have any idea what that means?
Self-sacrifice

Why are you so ready to kill anyone that doesn't agree with your position at the exact moment?
Where exactly did I say I was willing to kill anyone who disagreed with me?

Why are you so willing to dismiss everyone that is a victim of the corrupted uneducational process?
Again, I was calling for Americans to unite, not fight.

You ignore the reality of the brainwashing and propaganda that is spewed at Americans in everything from subliminal suggestion to outright lies?
No I don't ignore that fact, I think it is insidious and must be exposed. We have alternate means of finding out the truth these days, it's not like it was 25 years ago where all information was tightly controlled, there are more than enough alternative media outlets that expose the truth every day. It's up to the individual to pull their head out of the sand and learn to think critically again.

How do you have the right to decide who lives or dies?
Nope, never said that, again twisting my post with insinuations.

Of coarse you don't.
No one does.

If America were to break out in a civil war tomorrow millions of innocent humans would be killed.

There would be at least three "forces", all fighting each other.

It would be vile, heinous, and there may not be a clear "winner".

Most likely it would result in the USA being divided forever.
The government puppets and their lobbyist corporate banking sponsors will not go quietly, and if you believe so, you are completely deluded.
If it can be done peacefully by waking enough people up, so be it. I am willing to die to rid this filth from our country so my nieces and nephews can live with out the being a debt slave for their entire existince. I hope it doesn't ever come to that, but just look at history. I am only being realistic.

Why are you not capable of having any compassion for your fellow Humans?
Did I not say in my post that we all need to stop bickering and unite? You know absolutely NOTHING about me, just more of your insinuations.

Especially ones that are simply misguided through the indoctrination shoved down their throats by egomaniac "professors" who simply don't have room in their vile hearts to serve two gods, so serve themselves only.

Our "plan" is to educate.
Agreed.

A great many city dwellers simply are not capable of living within the boundaries of a sovereign individual society anyway.

Once any thinking individual understands the full scope of their rights, and more importantly, their responsibilities, they will usually chose freedom over enslavement.

You make a great point there, and I do agree with you to some extent. Some don't mind the bondage if they are living comfortably.

Right now, the ONLY people with a plan to begin the process are the Constitutional Republicans, along with the Constitutional Independents.
That remains to be seen.

If you have a better plan to help bring America back to her roots, please, by all means, speak up.

Money out of politics completely, and a return to the Constitution along with the abolishment of the electoral college would be a great start. I never said I have all the answers, as I'm sure you don't either.

But if your only intent was to sound off on a pointless rant that does nothing to help America, so be it, there's a few other mouths here that only love to cause turmoil for no other reason than the attention they can manage to gain.

If I wanted attention, I would be on here daily as you are. I speak up when I see something I think is out of whack, period, as is my right. And I'm sorry if my comment caused you turmoil, didn't know you were so sensitive. If telling people to unite against our corrupt govt is causing "turmoil", then guilty I stand.

I am so tired of reading some tirade that has no other purpose than self-satisfaction I could puke.
So now asking people to wake up and see the truth and to unite, is "self satisfation"..????

15 years ago I threw in with a very small band of determined people, our mission was to help enlighten.

Spent years getting laughed at, doors slammed in my face, and having my words taken out of context.
Having your words taken out of context? Now you know how I feel.

There have been many who fought for their entire lives, never gave up, and died only able to hold onto their dream.

Agreed, and it's sad, but many of them woke up plenty of people that are doing the same today.

Now, for the first time in probably 150 years, America has a chance to overthrow the banksters that invaded our government 150 years before that and took control through corruption and greed.

This is probably America's last chance to ever become the freedom loving city on the hill.

Yes, there are more waking up than ever, but we still need more.

And instead of helping, rather than be PART of the positive change, you would rather toot your horn for attention.
Look who's talking, you rant daily with your own viewpoint, so that's kind of the pot calling the kettle black, don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.

It is now or never.

It is obvious you act like  you want to live in a free America, so if your not going to bother to help, maybe you can save your soap box for another time.
So now you are the end-all and be-all of who's opinion matters and who can help? Isn't that what you've been accusing me with throughout your entire ditribe?

I do not want to cause harm to my neighbors.

Neither do I.

i do not want to stand by idly as entire generations of humans are subjected to a life of poverty just so some politician can maintain power.
And I'm not. There's a reason I'm not pontificating on DV daily, I have my own business, and try to help out in my local community as much as my schedule allows.

I am calling BS everywhere I see it, because dismissive crap like shabbs off handed snarky criticisms against conservatives are in fact a direct assault against the very people trying to save this country.

So now Shabs opion doesn't matter? And he's directly assaulting you? I don't always agree with what he says, but he has every right to call it how he sees it, and I think a little humor is a good thing Way to wear the white wig Judge Dive...not everyone wants to live like a comservative, and as Americans, they have that right.

Of coarse politics are corrupted, and for as long as the establishment is allowed to stay in power we will continue our decline into complete slavery.

That's what I said in my original post...are you drunk?

If you are not able to look past your own issues to see the potential in having a truly conservative POTUS then I am sorry for your shortsightedness.
What "issues"?? Telling it like it really is?
I want a POTUS and govt of the people and by the people, that respects EVEYONE's Constitutional rights equally, not just "conservatives"...

If we had a POTUS that supported the education required, that eliminated the polarizing divisiveness, that stood up to the inbred ignorance of political correctness,  that ended the fascism called capitalism in America today, people would begin to understand by the millions.

I agree 100%, PC is just fascism with manners

Only then, once each individual is fully equipped with the understanding of their actual standing, can we be free.

The thing is, not one bullet will ever have to fired at another living being.

The empowerment of just understanding will cause people to simply start demanding their rights, the police will know the truth and will refuse to arrest for what is not illegal in the first place, and any politician refusing to accept will simply be run out of office.

Sure, it's a long shot, maybe I've been chasing an illusion for all these years, but the dream of a free America is what helps keep me going every single day.

Me as well Dive.

So please, if you are holding back on some superior plan that would change everything, by all means, spill the beans, because the rest of us ignorant slobs are running out of options.

Again, never said I had all the answers, I just do the best I can by waking up people I come into contact with, and by helping the hungry and homeless in my community.

Want to really throw up?

Boston you be a wicked pisser, narrow minded liberal putz that only knows how to weave a myth. A myth is where you take truths and attempt to combine with lies.  The Berlin wall divided a city within a country that was divided along political philosophys. Those who want to build a wall on our southern and northern boarders (like myself) are trying to solve the inhumanity of human and drug  smuggling from Mexico into the USA, and Canada into the USA. Running things like its 1962 is the fault of the Dems/Obama. Unity along racial lines has been pushed back to 1962 as ya'll continue to do nothing but deny. You complain about the 1% ( the  bourgeois) paying to little of they money, while Mr O and Hillarious only pay 15% of their income. Let me see thats the same as Romny. All whilye the Dems and their paid for "scientists" deny their own imperical data gathered by their satelite "thermometers" that prove this planet has not increased it temperature any more than 1 degree in over 100 years. Hardly global warming. Why can't we just find common ground and move forward while attempting to bring the dream of the great Martin Luther King Jr into being.

A little harmless fun is just great.

Perhaps if there were even a small number of comments in support of a more legitimate government by shabbs other than the indignant and insulted assertions when called out it may be a lot easier to enjoy for a humorous break.

If you have been an advocate for as long as I, then you have also undoubtedly encountered those with motives which were not clearly stated.

Obama and Bush both claimed to be Christian.

We both know the truth from their actions.

How can you sit and accept the constant damage done when there is never anything to prove the opposite?

I have never claimed to walk on water, and have misspoken, or been just plain wrong many times.

Just as I readily challenge, do I even more readily accept responsibility for my errors.

This whole thing is completely blown out of proportion for it's value, other than the principal of the action.

I could care less what shabbs thinks about republicans, rather, I am far more concerned with the apparent forked tounge approach.

You sound like you are actually concerned, and your words make sense, but if true, why just dismiss the conservative republicans?

By your own words you said there was no chance of either party helping America, but that's not quite true, is it?

If Carlin were alive today he would be stumping for Trump or Carson.

If you are trying to help why are your comments acting like nothing can help this nation.

OF COARSE education is key.

Are you saying Clinton as POTUS, with McConnell and Boehner in senate and house have as much a chance of supporting a constitutional change as do  Trump or Carson with  a Cruse or Paul led senate and house?

That is ludicrous.

So the argument everyone needs to just grab their ankles and not bother to become involved is just as defeating.

I get it, your frustrated. So also are a lot of other people.

But you don't see them telling everyone to just forget it, it's already rigged, and they don't have a chance.

Either you are for change, or against it.

Make up your mind, because your starting to not make any sense.

If people become involved just enough to help bring a conservative to power, that will in fact enable at least some to begin to understand that the true power lies with each one of us.

At this point, I will take any win possible, anything to help wake folks up from their slumber.

Between the outright lies from all establishment, and the doomsday squawking of folks screaming everyone is already screwed, everyday people have become apathetic.

Isn't it time to stop with the sky is falling stuff and start showing people an actual attainable path?

And as far as this being our last best chance, if you cant see that for the truth it is you need to take another look around.

Not only are the American people more informed than ever before, but also are the collectivists at the end of their centuries long plan.

It is possibly going to always be a chance of a revival, but I'll guarantee you if we wait until the UN is in complete control, when American police are replaced with foreigners, until after all guns are confiscated, there will always be a statistical percentage, there was always a statistical chance of Germany telling Hitler to F off too, but the chances are remote.

Show me how screaming don't bother, your screwed, can help even one person decide to become empowered, and I'l step back.

I am in no way"the end all" in anything, I just call it as I see it, and unless you are helping, you are hurting.

If you think just telling someone, "I know you have no idea what I'm talking about, but just dedicate hours and hours of your personal time to research everything I'm saying, you'll eventually realize it's true", will win people over by the millions, you need to think again.

We have constitutional classes offered to the public, not just on it's governmental limitations, or the rights from the amendments, but also how that relates to everyday life today. How that impacts every single facet of existence.

While there are a few giving their time, they are all predominately people who already understand, and are trying to help get out the message.

Are you trying to say that if a new POTUS gave a SOTU speech and told the country how much better life would be if we all live the way that class taught, that it wouldn't turn millions of Americans overnight?

No, you obviously can't, and, if you were actually on the front lines every day, you would already know about the schools, and would have been aware of the potential.

Instead all I'm hearing is more lip service.

Thats OK, that's your right.

Just the same as it's my right to defend the defenders.

Get your knickers in a bunch all you want, I really don't care.

I'm too busy working for a better tomorrow.

And calling the BS where I see it.

As for the rest of your reply, I'm not going to bother lowering myself to address it.

If you want to spend your time flying high on your magnificent ego, just be sure to not get too close to the Son, you might hurt yourself.

Keep telling yourself whatever makes you feel better Dive...I'm not going to sit here and waste my time responding to another one of your misguided diatribes about me, someone you know nothing about. I've answered your questions quite clearly the 1st time. If that's not good enough, then too bad, I have better things to do than retort your rambling insinuations constantly. And as for egos, you take the cake in that dept. You seem like someone who likes to hear themselves talk all the time and repeats themselves constantly, so by all means, continue.

Here's to hoping and helping enough people wake up to make a difference peacefully. Goodnight.

You two just need to get over it.

You BOTH love your country

You BOTH are patriots

You BOTH demand change

You BOTH are willing to die for it

You BOTH believe in the constitution

This country in its time of great need

Needs BOTH of you.

Just something to think about.

Whoa, this thread absolutely blew up.  I'm flattered to be part of the topic of discussion.  For future reference, it's Shabs.......with one "B".   :peace:

And for the record.....I don't think you're a slob.   :)

GO RV, then BV

Wow it is nice to see such a discussion by people who love their country. Of course politics like religion, will draw huge lines in the sand. I do find it amazing that people are so moved by the emotional issues that divide as apposed to the real issues that affect our daily lives.

Do I care if gays marry? Nope it is none of my business what you do at home. Do I care if abortion is legal? Again what you do with your body is your business. Like those who get tattoos, the bible says your body is a temple and yet so many chose to destroy it. Again not my business. Should the federal government tell us how to teach our children, if we can smoke pot, or if I can own a gun? Nope, the federal government was not set-up to rule the states. The states are supposed to rule themselves.

I also find it amusing that because I agree or disagree with a certain law, policy etc., that I'm instantly labeled a liberal or conservative. That is one of the many problems with our society. I'm not either of those two limited choices, but rather a moderate. I do not and will not sit on one side of the fence or the other. That is the very root to the problems with our government. When did it become a bad thing to take the best of all worlds and combine them for the greater good.

RV Me and a couple others were quick to spew their hate on me for expressing my views and I am truly sorry if their America is a bad America. My America over the last four years has been incredibly rewarding and successful.

In the year 1996 the conservatives put forth their Contract with America and took over the government. By the year 2000, the movement carried their policies and views to the White House. Soon after banks were deregulated, big business received tax cuts, huge chunks of our budget were sent to the military build up. No child let behind was put into place and suddenly our government was the biggest it had ever been. The government bailed out the banks, the car makers and about bankrupted the nation.

After the conservatives finished their "cleaning up of America" they left the country in the worst shape imaginable. An economy in ruin. Two wars that still are on going to this day. An education system lagging behind most industrialized nations. And a workforce with no where to go.

Now let's get this straight, I'm not saying the liberals don't have their problems, because that would simply be a lie. However, through the course of America's short history it has always been progressives that moved us forward, not conservatives. The stats do not lie. The quality of life for the American public has mostly (notice I said mostly) been better under a progressive government.

Some will say the industrial tycoons moved America, but this simply is not true. Although they may have put America to work, they did it by cheating, forced labor and taking advantage at every turn. It was progressive thinking that created safe work environments, higher education, an 8 hour day. Progressives started the revolution. Protested and fought in the streets for equal rights. Gave women the right to vote. All the while conservatives sat at home watching the changes unfold in their newspapers and later on their TVs. Progressives went out and took the stand. Fought the fight. Conservatives gathered quietly amongst themselves and if they were really pissed they would threaten to write their congressmen. They didn't really want to rock the boat. It might cost them their comfy lifestyle.

Yes some think America is done, but again I say I'm sorry if your America is a bad America. Over the last 4 years, my America has been the best America I've experienced in my lifetime. My business has tripled. My income has doubled. I have more work than I can possibly handle. My home mortgage interest rate has gone from 7% to 3%. I hire more people than I ever needed during the conservative rule of the late 90s and early 2000s. The list goes on and on.

So if you are left or right, go on drinking your Kool-Aid. Keep watching Fox News or CNN. Keep gobbling up the drivel they spew and keep arguing with your neighbors over issues that truly mean nothing. While they blind your eyes and steal your dreams.

RV Me. You said you would take a constitutionalist over the others any day. I agree, do you know of any good ones on the ballot?
