O boy,is this very telling or what. Yes it does make one stop and pause as to the reasoning behind this. As mentioned in the postings from above, I can only think of one other reason and that would be that the government/ country of Iraq is indeed in dire financial straits.

I fervently hope this is what everyone else is thinking. Preparation before a change in the rate.

Iraqi Prime industrial assembly Abdul Hassan al-Shammari, criticized the claim by some MPs and officials to reduce employees' salaries and the abolition of student grants under the pretext of applying austerity plan to tackle the financial crisis, warning of the impact of the financial crisis on the standard of living of citizens and food on the citizens.

Has a government ever done this in human history before??? If you want your people to love you, taking a huge cut in pay and giving that money to those in need is a surefire way to make that happen. I know I'd like our representatives more if they did that.

Is it only temporary, "until the end of the financial crisis.",
