rockfl9
The sheer size of Iraq's mining and mineral resources are breathtaking. The conference was told natural deposits are some of the biggest in the world, including an estimated 600 million tonnes of native sulphur in the Mosul region, 10 billion tonnes of phosphates and 75 million tonnes of quartz sand under the Western Desert, 8 billion tonnes of limestone in Al Anbar and Suleimani, 50 million tonnes of salt in Al Anbar and Al Basrah. All these figures are thought to be conservative thats how they will fund an RV ( as well as oil and gas) The Iraqis are richer than the Saudis DB :: What you quoting is FUTURE POTENTIAL and I AGREE it could be there. Possible yes BUT , Until Iraqi's slow down the expansion of the oil sector and divert investment money to these other natural resources that growth will be stunted. The fact is that there is no significant exports of salt, limestone , phosphates et al actually happening! But the facts are Iraq is not putting out the effort to develop those industries, They want others to come in with the investment. Iraq's laws are not conducive to foreign investment at this time, that must change. For example iraq currently must "Flare-off" half of its natural gas, no way to store it. It's wasted. A CNG plant and port(like the ones the US is building) could convert the gas to a valuable product. The cost, about $1B but no one is going to do that unless guaranteed ownership of the land and equipment. Today that cant be done , only iraqis can OWN land.
dontlop
Rock, you are trying to close the barn door AFTER the cow stomper left. You will NEVER convince Dontlop that the swissndinar wasn't a revalue. My understanding is that the swiss dinar, which was usednalmost exclusively up in Kurdistan, never lost its market value during the 14 years of Gulf wars. It even increased in value as UN sanctions and Saddam's overprinting gutted the regular dinar used in Baghdad. Therefore in 2004, when the Bremmer dimar was printed, the Coalition did not think it air to penalize the holders of swis dinar nd create a "situation". So they honored the exchange of swiss dinar to Bremmer dinar at 150 to 1. It wasn't a revalue, because it NEVER lost it's value in Kurdistan. Remmer did not want to cause a firestorm up north by making them exchangemat 1 to 1, which would have been a massive 15,000% loss of money for the Kurds. ewingm
DB, Your lengthy mining report was from 2011. It was written in a very unusual manner. I doubt the iraqis have a saying like "okey dokey". as was printed. If you are looking for a significant RV this week, like my people are, you have to go with the situation in the CBI and iraq today, not almost four years ago! And things are lousey in iraq right now with no oil revenue and ISIS occupying half their country. As for Tex, I too believe in miracles, but I do not believe God trusts very many people with riches. In fact virtually every scripture about money is NEGATIVE! As for Revelation, because of the symbolism used, it is very difficult to understand exactly what is meant in specific passages. Gog/Megog is supposed to represent Russia as you probably already know, but as for Babylon meaning Baghdad itself, or the region of Persia, only God knows.
dontlop
Did the kuwait dinar ever lose its market value ? You concerned about the swiss dinar market value but then you dismiss market value when you talk about the kuwait dinar Ignorant fools act like that ewingm
rockfl9
For the CHIMP TWINS. I am a realist. The Mods must equate that to a Lopster! When it comes to an RV of any size I say "Show me the money". A lop costs money , does the CBI have it????? 2015 is a zero year in Iraq's progress at best. They will burn thru half of the remaining DFI, miss oil export estimates by .5bbl/d and at bes push DAASH back to Syria. Kurdistan got what it wanted (deservedly)in the oil deal. They will milk it to their advantage. Go Kurds!!!!

rockfl9
Caz::: Useless to argue with the Mods. 2015 will be a battle of survival for Iraq. No RV for sure and a new series of notes very unlikely.. The liquidity problem throws enough uncertainty into the country it doesn't need additional confusion. Cutting staff and reducing salaries is bad enough . Changing 1000 to 1 dinar will make the masses more angry. Politically a bad thing.

rockfl9
Tuesday's vote in the COM takes care of the operating budgets . Headcount and salaries thing . The big question is funding for the projects which make up most of the deficit. I wonder if Abadi's trip to the UAE is to get them to fund some of the projects. I believe that is where the Kurds got money for some of their developments.

Texstorm
Why? He was the original man in charge heading the plan to lop the dinar.... Do you really think that the CBI would intentionally tell us, anyways no one predicted that he would come back when he was first terminated either, so that leads me to believe that everything that has happened in the last 3 months was somehow planned. dontlop
Carrot on a stick from the so called iraqi journalists We don't believe the American journalists But we believe the corrupt iraqi journalists They are bought and paid for so be careful what you pass around as truth If your source comes from iraq
dontlop
The action against the governor is ostensibly linked to longstanding allegations that buyers at the bank’s regular dollar auctions are using fraudulent papers, with some then deploying the currency in deals to evade sanctions on neighbouring Iran and Syria. This also came from iraq So what do you believe

SocalDinar
Most countries do give advance notice if they are changing the currency Cy in order to educate the citizens. Why wouldn't they let people know? Thats right Keep. Shabs himself said that educating the public was phase 2 of the Centarl's plan. And educating the public in Iraq is no easy task. Over and over he spoke of deleting the zeroes from the currency. I believe they had started phase 2 before Shabs took his trip to Japan.

rockfl9
COM passed a budget without deficit! At $60 a bbl 123T dinar. Tells me that most of the projects are not in it.. The provinces want/expected some of the projects last year! It's like the pork barrel in the US congress. Expect a fight. IF they put Shabibi in as Governor again the probability of an IMF loan is improved , I think,. IMF/WB might fund some humanitarian projects.
