As far as Texas goes, we'd all be a lot better off if they did secede. As far as the Kurds go, they don't decide it all. But that is irrelevant. What Barzani says may come to pass - a division of Iraq - if the US army does not step up and they can't stop fighting in Baghdad. The Sunnis have been sidelined for years by the Shia majority and if the Shia keep it up, they will lose Sunni areas and Kurdish areas - and that's 2/3 of Iraq. And that's the end of the IQD. As for TV propaganda, they all do it. The best is the "fair and balanced" station. They are the laughing stock of the US - except for white men aged 60-80. LOL

Ezra a good take. I agree. This won't stop currency reform unless it breaks up Iraq into 3 sections and they have to print new money altogether. Even that might still mean IQD for two of those sections, perhaps the Kurds and Shia. Not sure. Just because Obama said no air force now doesn't mean they won't go in. I think he's angling for a political peace agreement at the moment and to get rid of M. Too many lives have been lost and there are too many powerful people who will benefit from currency revaluation to drop it now because the Sunnis let in ISIS to help their cause against Maliki. As a quick note - I am glad ANYTHING is happening in Iraq to move Maliki out. I know Adam feels he will move the RV forward, but I have seen too much evidence he has blocked it. He's been in power for eight years - thrown out Shabbibi (maybe this was good if he had intention to RD) and basically presided over almost a decade of NOT calling the RV even with his own appointee Turki in the driver's seat. not sure if good for us RV wise. the global perceived strength of the IQD depends on oil exporting capability. If the country is divided, then there is less oil going out by by the new Iraq. What will "Iraq" be? Just a part of what it is now. They might have to reprint notes or go to a whole new currency. Not sure what that would mean. On the other hand, if they divide - and then stop fighting because they are autonomous countries, then that could be good - several years down the road.

The bottom line is that, as Eric Cantor's surprising loss – and the Pew survey – suggests, if Republicans allow their most ardent voters to define them, it could one day be mathematically impossible to garner enough electoral votes to win the presidency. Allow me to translate: "Patriots" like yourself are a minority of a GOP minority party. If Tea Partiers gain control of the GOP and push it even farther to the right (where you are) then they cannot win a mainstream national vote. Get it?
