I think the DV family is blessed that you are here, I know that your two bits added to some of the few other credible sources out there have changed the way I approach this investment. The only true information we will ever see will be the RV via the CBI official exchange rate, period. Everything else is just horse s#!t.

Randalln, you are right on. The TBI was the only bank that international companies and entities were doing business with since around 2005. Rafdain, Rasheed and Warka were only used by locals (except for a few American suckers ) due to their instability and over-leveraging.

Ramadan starts around June 29th and lasts for 30 days. The reason it's "around" is because it's based on the Islamic lunar calendar and not our Julian. It;s "around" one month earlier than last year, again due to the lunar calendar. It's more than a 30 day dawn to dusk fasting marathon. The people are encouraged to take care of the poor as well as celebrating their blessings for the year. Over that last 5 years or so, the guru's and pumpers have lied and used caring for the poor for a reason to RV. Pure hogwash. Don't count on an RV during Ramadan, and IMO I don't think they can get their act together in 10 days, so maybe the press statements about "raising the zero process" starting in September might be right on.... I'm just sayin'....

I get your frustration, no neg from me. The fundamentals of the RV scenario are sound (well as sound as any investment these days) just don't let the idiot "goo-roo's" get under your skin. Look at this as watching history unfold, and maybe this small group of people will find ourselves in the right place at the right time to make a bit of money. Until then, Gentleman Jack is a good companion on this trip.....

It's a moot point since all funds loaned through the IMF are USD. If Iraq wishes to lop, they will. Personally I'm praying and almost ready to sacrifice a Big Mac on the Altar of Dinar to the Great Shabibi that they don't lop. All of us outside the CBI have opinions and theories, but the bottom line is NONE of us know what will happen. We can only wish and fantasize (and most opinions are driven at least in part by fantasy) that we will make a profit... only time will tell

These guys have been parasites for as long as I've been in this ('07). At first I fell for the pitch, now I'm sitting on a handsome pile of of fancy toilet paper due to their convincing lies and my former naivete. But I sill believe in the fundamentals, and I'm thinking that we should see some type of RV (hopefully at least .10) some time after Ramadaan.

Nothing surprising here, but I believe that Iraq can still RV and move forward with their economic reforms, ascend to trading status within the WTO, and then be released from ch7 in December.

So, why did you buy dinar? Maybe to replace your regular supply of Charmin? First, they are trying to build confidence in their domestic currency which dovetails to point #2, Iraqis have been purchasing with the dollar right after the invasion and up until now they had little reason to trust in the dinar. Now that they are about to see that instead using 1000 dinar to buy a pack of Camels they will be able to buy 1000 packs of Camels for 1000 dinar. Third, I believe that the lunatics surrounding this currency play ("oakie", jonny WinGnut, "fullagrits") have provided a sufficient amount of perceived illegitimacy that most forex traders would be embarrassed to admit they hold a position in dinar. What do you not understand? A Lop will change NOTHING. They will still need thousands of dinar to buy their groceries, but with only lower denominations available, they will need to drive a pickup full of dinar to the store to buy the groceries. True the dollar continues to have the stronger buying power in country, but that is precisely why they want to RV. Would you've wanted to use the Pound to buy your groceries After the Colonies won the Revolutionary War?

No disrespect intended, but I think the good Dr. needs to stick with his/her choice of practice. If he/she exhibits the same grasp of his/her specialty as dinar related issues posted on this forum, I suggest a greater degree of malpractice insurance should be considered.
