Latest news says boat is not going to Valencia, Spain as trip would be too long ( 1,500 kilometers....3 to 5 days) and People on boat are already very tried by the trip so far ( many children on board, women and 7 pregnant women)..There's also shortage of food......Deals still in progress for getting permission to dock at an Italian port

Trumps thoughts on Italy..........

6:25 p.m.

President Donald Trump says Italy’s new premier is a “really great guy” who will do a “great job” for his country.

Trump tweeted Saturday that he’ll soon honor Giuseppe Conte at the White House.

Conte made his international debut at the Group of Seven summit of leading industrialized nations that wrapped up Saturday in Canada.

Trump met Conte for the first time at the gathering in Quebec.

The president tweeted as he flew from Canada to Singapore for the next big meeting on his schedule, a summit Tuesday with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

Trump added that “the people of Italy got it right!”

and I'm sure Trump understands the immigration stance Conte is taking.........

Perhaps Italy has the next Trump........."Make Italy Great Again"..........time will tell.........great country, great people........Italy deserves to be in a better place than they are today.........JMO      CL

By rejecting a migrant ship, Italian populists are simply following the EU’s lead

Human rights and international law had been abandoned in the name of security long before Italy’s votes were counted

While I deem my Gov't ( which I didn't vote for , nor choose) behavior very debatable ( for a lot of reasons....too right-wing  for me to begin with ...But I bow to the will of my fellow Italian voters....Democracy...sigh)....

I must add that Spain ( which I do thank whole-heartedly  for accepting the migrants...at least this time...) and France shouldn't talk about inhumane acting on Italy's part for the simple reason they have done and keep doing unmentionable things when it comes to that....Too many stories and episodes  which makes it difficult for me to report here now.....

Again...I do not condone, nor support, nor agree with this here It. Gov't...

But Truth be told....France and Spain should just keep their (big) mouth shut

Of course the core of the issue here is the need to re-write some of the EU rules when it comes to immigration.....It's simply UN-ACCETTABLE that some Countries ( which do receive money from the EU....eg...Hungary)  will always  refuse  getting a migrants quota as a matter of (their) principle, while some other Countries  (Italy first) must be the almost only receiving Countries of the masses of ( desperate) Individuals of those crossing the Mediterranean in search of a better life and / or as asylum seekers .....just due to our geographical location...Italy's borders should be deemed as European Union borders.....All of that done with humanity etc. obviously...Distinguishing between asylum seekers, economic migrants, minors travelling alone, etc.....ALWAYS  preserving human life with constant & efficient sea rescue, etc....Obviously.....

If some EU Countries still refuse to do that ( accepting a  quota) ...I say kick them out of EU and force them to give back all  the Millions EU gave them till now.....Or else it's just too easy ( and coward) to act that way....JMHO

umb's note: Here's the proof of how our Minister of Interior Affairs ( Matteo Salvini of far-right party League)  is "peculiar" ( He thinks he's so smart and awesome and a sort of Superman...)...

But why  am I surprised?  Fascists will be fascists....

Also bizarre the fact that our PM Mr. Conte (practically INVISIBLE so far and totally VOICELESS...And he's our Prime Minister....Bah....)....doesn't have a say , apparently, in all of this mess......Unbelievable

Here below is the (wonderful?) result....And that's going to occur again and again.....Hmmm.....

Migrants Are Stranded on a U.S. Warship With Nowhere to Go

Forgot to mention that one of his best friends ( at a political level) is  Viktor Orban of Hungary (another Fascist)

Probably Mr. Salvini is kinda bi-polar in that he states vehemently  that other EU states should take quotas of all the migrants disembarked on Italian shores ( agreed, makes sense...Ok)...And on the other hand he makes alliances with Individuals like Mr. Orban who wowed several times He won't take  one single migrant....Is that weirdo or not ( esp. for a Minister of Interior Affairs)?
