New York Teacher Tells Students Santa Claus Isn't Real

A New York teacher is accused of being a real Scrooge after telling her young students that Santa Claus isn't real.

News 12 reports a second grade teacher in Nanuet, New York was giving a geography lesson when students noted that Santa Claus lives in the North Pole.

The teacher promptly told the kids Jolly Old Saint Nick doesn't exist and that it's their parents who leave presents underneath the tree every year.

The school's principal has yet to confirm the allegations and the superintendent was unavailable for comment.

Maintaining childrens's belief in myths can be a tricky task for teachers. In 2008, a teacher in England got into trouble for telling stunned students that "only small children believe in Father Christmas." And in September, parents in Leigh Acres, Florida were outraged when a teacher told students the tooth fairy isn't real.

And although teachers sometimes spoil the holiday fun--and the internet age doesn't make it any easier for Kris Kringle- last year Pete Fontana, who runs Operation Santa out of the United States Post Office in midtown Manhattan, estimated that they'd receive 2 million letters addressed to The North Pole.

Scientific Proof That Santa Isn't Real.

Point #1 - No known species of reindeer can fly.

BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms

yet to be classified, and while most of these are

insects and germs, this does not completely rule

out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.

Point #2 - There are 2 billion children (persons under 18)

in the world. BUT since Santa doesn't (appear) to handle the

Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, and Buddhist children, that reduces

the workload to 15% of the original total. - 378 million according

to the Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census)

rate of 3.5 children per household, that's 91.8 million homes.

One presumes there is at least one good child in each.

Point #3 - Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with,

thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth,

assuming that he travels east to west (which seems logical).

This works out to 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for

each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th

of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney,

fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree,

eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney,

get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house.

Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed

around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the

purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking

about .78 miles per household, a total trip of 75 1/2 million miles,

not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once

every 31 hours, plus feeding and etc. This means that Santa's sleigh

is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound.

For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle on earth,

the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second.

A conventional reindeer can run, tops, 15 miles per hour.

Point #4 - The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element.

Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized lego

set (2 pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa,

who is invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional reindeer

can pull no more than 300 pounds. Even granting that "flying reindeer"

(see point #1) could pull TEN TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the

job with eight, or even nine reindeer. We need 214,200 reindeer.

This increases the payload - not even counting the weight of the sleigh - to

353,430 tons. Again, for purposes of comparison, this is 4 times the

weight of the Queen Elizabeth.

Point #5 - 353,000 tons, traveling at 650 miles per second, creates enormous

air resistance. This will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecrafts

re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer will absorb

14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. PER SECOND. EACH. In short, they will burst

into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them,

and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team

will be vaporized within 4.26 THOUSANDTHS of a second. Santa, meanwhile,

will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity.

A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the

back of the sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force, while burning to a crisp.

IN CONCLUSION - If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve,

he didn't even make it to the first house...

My children knew from a young age what the meaning of Christmas was, it is to celebrate the birth of Christ. They know what Easter is about and that it isnt about some bunny hiding eggs. When this life is over and you give answer for all the idols that was created to replace Christ and how you help spread these lies. What will you excuse be ?

Obviously we have a lack of that wonderful and most enjoyable mental exercise called Imagination, what a shame.

What is wrong with dreaming and immagination?

Where would our dreams of the possibility of an RV be?

I agree! Santa is for children, foremost... to enjoy and create formative ideas and joy. But, even as an adult, I enjoy the memories and images I see during Christmas... because they conjur up happy times, and sustain them! How would I enjoy such if they were censored or stifled as a child. It's also called... tradition... many of us embrace traditions... we find no need to overanalyze them.

Watch the movie "Miracle on 34th Street" with an open heart and joy... the magic of that movie is unmistakeable and enduring! :)

Of course he's REAL! What a fool. Are all those guys in red outfits outside supermarkets fake?? Howabout the ones in shopping malls listening to children and cheerleaders tell their christmas wishes while sitting on his lap? What of the advertisements with him holding a flask of whiskey and flying through the air? News reports on Christmas eve telling millions of listeners his sleigh has been sighted over various cities...all FAKE?? Would international news agencies lie to us?? C'mon now. Santa's no figment of the imagination folks, he's real and he be watchin'. So you better not pout, you better not lie, you better not be sayin he's a dead myth and not alive, Santa claus is comin' to town. ;) And another thing, you intellectuals who claim he can't be in different places at once...raindeer cannot fly, blah, blah, blah...Hogwash! Santa's no mortal bound by space and time, he's magical. Pop that into your equation and you'll find all things are possible. Magical Santa's never been apprehended, true, but then neigher has the Yeti, trolls, pixies, and Ufo's, but we all know they exist. Better believe...the 25th will be here soon...you don't want a lump of coal in that stocking come Christmas morning. Peace out!

Hmmm. Setting up your kid for a heartbreak by telling him or her that santa clause or the tooth fairy exist, yea great one. Right on teacher. Lying to your kids, i guess that is acceptable to people now days. No wonder why lying is accepted and wanted. Just like telling your wife that she looks fat in everything she wears, instead we lie to make her feel better. Everyone nowadays wants to be lied to. Think before you get happy with that neg button, you know it is true.

She deserves a forehead slap !!! While what she said is true, that's a parent or guardian's job to deal with when the time is right. Not a teacher's.

pp

Its a Guardians job to not mislead and intentionally lie to those who they are responsible for. so both the parents and teacher are wrong it amazes me how warped peoples morality can be. Yes encourage the truth but discourage the same truth it makes no since.
