Kuwait's parliament has had any pull with the UN regarding the chapter 7 status.. which in my opinion they don't Iraq's exodus from ch 7 will be largely dependent on whether they (Iraq) can satisfy the terms of the UN.. stlthe Security Council has a large pull in these matters, and Kuwait is not on the security council but, as Med said time and time again... they do not have to be removed from ch 7 in order to rv.. Med says to (16:17:02): OK BACK I FOUND TWO ISSUES THAT ARE GOING TO CAUSE A SIGNIFICANT RISE IN INFLATION AND ALSO UNREST IN THE IRAQI STREETS FIRST THEY ARE EXPECTING A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IS FOOD PRICES THIS ALONE WILL KICK INFLATION UP SIGNIFICANTLY SINCE THAT MEANS AGAIN THE PURCHASING POWER DECLINES NOW YOU PROBABLY ARE WONDERING WHY PRICES ARE HIGH IN IRAQ I AM NOT SURE THEY REALLY ARE COMPARED TO THE U.S. YOU MAY HAVE SOME HIGHER BUT IT IS SUPPLY AND DEMAND YOU DEMAND WE SUPPLY AND YOU PAY WHAT WE ASK AND ALSO THERE IS THE PPP THAT SPECIFIES IF A HAMBURGER IN THE U.S. AT MCDONALDS IS 1 BUCK THEN THE EQUIVALENT IN DINAR HAS TO BE PAID IN IRAQ SO THEY DONT GET ANY BREAK CUZ THE DINAR IS WEAK NEXT ISSUE UNEMPLOYMENT ANOTHER KEY FACTOR IN FIGURING INFLATION THEY EXPECT A HUGE LEAP WHEN THE US PULLS OUT SINCE WE EMPLOY THOUSANDS SO IRAQ IS LOOKING DOWN THE BARREL OF IT HITTING 10% OK THAT IS ALL I HAVE FOR NOW GONNA GO CRASH LATER ALL MED OUT jon says to (16:24:45): thanks Med TXCPA says to (16:24:53): But all of this should benefit us as it should force Shabibi to go ahead and RV. thepainman says to (16:25:01): just popped in, thanks med thats good stuff right there Med says to (16:25:03): YW JON OF COURSE TXCPA TY PM OK BYE GANG moose says to (16:25:19): just got in; thanks for this info med. take care TXCPA says to (16:25:22): thanks Med awwwsomegod says to (16:25:30): III dont say much, but thansk Med Med says to (16:25:39): OH THAT IS NOT MY OPINION IT IS IN THE FORUM RIGHT NOW SO IT IS BACK BY FACT tudor says to (16:25:58): thanks Med
fnbplanet
I don't believe that food prices are one of the indicators they use for inflation, but I could be wrong. We don't in the U.S., unless it's a commodity. Not sure how more Iraqis being unemployed due to troop withdrawal adds to inflation either.

I think most of their food comes from outside the country, that's why it maybe a factor.
captl1
On new now it said that Iraq was ordering 50,000 tons of wheat and 25,000 tons of rice from the world market. Shick
THERE'S STILL A LOT OF PEOPLE IN IRAQ, AND WE ALL KNOW THAT IT'S PRIMARILLY DESERT, NOTHING GOOD CAN GROW THERE, SO THE FRUIT AND VEGGIES WILL HAVE TO COME FROM ABROAD, WHICH IN TURN WILL SPRUCE UP THE ECONOMY BECAUSE HUMANS HAS TO EAT. GO RV!
jg1
I think most of their food comes from outside the country, that's why it maybe a factor. I wonder what the going work wage is over in Iraq. I had a Iranian family over for thanksgiving and we talked about inflation over in Iran. Over 10,000 iran dinar to the dollar. They said they lived comfortable in Iran, but if they were to buy anything imported to the country, that is when it was very expensive. The husband was a supervisor of about 40 people in a oil company newspaper which payed I figured about 4 dollars a day, they got payed 1 time a month. Even though he said it was easy work, 8-10 hours a day, but only really worked for 3 of them. He said its been a real struggle, spending most of his savings. He was glad to get out because he said in school they were teaching his kid to hate Americans and that their president was crazy.

GO RV! Iraq has fertile lands, the problem is they have no farmers, they need to educate and teach people how to farm and bring seeds from abroad to start to produce.

TonyDownTheShore
They already have and already are. Just like everything else they're very slow, it'll be a while before they can produce and supply for the country.

GO RV! Iraq has been known as the bread basket of the Middle East. They have always grown fruit and vegetables because of the fertile ground around the Euphrates River, and obviously, the water. The wetlands that were destroyed need to be restored and the farmers need to get loans to start farms. An article came out a few days ago that talked of a program implemented so that 75% of the wheat would be grown in Iraq. I am not sure how importing food will "spruce up the economy" ? For one thing, it increases inflation.

ssmith
I'm sure the troops leaving , has a big impact on the economy as well... I'm sure the troops bring money to the area, just like tourist season at the beach, or Disney world.. So that's got to contribute... Shabibi is one of the top 4 economist in the world, he knows what he's doing & he is holding all iraq's cards close to his chest. I really believe we are getting a lot of smoke & mirrors , so there's not a run on their currency. We are close to the end one way or another..
