My Personal Bank Story

Well this is first hand with my very own bank story.

I've been going to the same SunTrust bank in Ft.Myers Florida for some time.

This branch had never sold dinar, and when asked, they really didn't know

much other than they were not dealing with it.

Today during my lunch break, I went to re-new the tags for my lawn trailer, and then to deposit my pay check at the SunTrust bank branch in North Fort Myers.

I was making small talk with the teller(KIm). They had installed new bullet-proof glass since the last time I had been there and some kind of device that spit out the cash/bills that I was getting cash back from. Thought the device kinda neat, never seeing anything like that in a bank before. Usually they just open a drawer for the cash.

Anyway, I asked her if they would be dealing with the Iraqi dinar when it revalues, and she said yes. I was surprised, as the other branch had always told me no. I then asked her if she knew when it might revalue, she hesitated and looked at the other teller who gave an odd look, then turned back to me and said no, that she did not.

I asked if there was any truth to the "green" screens and "swift codes." She quickly stated no such thing as a green screen, but did confirm swift codes. We both acknowledged that there was a lot of lies floating around on the internet.

She smiled and I walked out and went back to work.

The end.

Sorry, no happy ending.

Not yet anyway. :D

"I went to re-new the tags for my lawn trailer" - Most importantly, how much and how long did it take ?

It's believable Krome! I had an experience last week with First Convenience in WalMart... They got vague instructions on how to handle foreign currency... including cash back. No rates, No more specifics, they were just surprised.

I have also talked to the branch supervisor at our local Walmart bank. and she was excited about the possibility of a RV......ofcourse she has no inside information but she told me they were selling dinars and would be cashing them in upon a RV.....now she may be misinformed but that is the info I got.......a friend of mine who is heavily invested called the home of of First National Bank Texas in which these Walmart banks are a division of......the business card she gave me shows First National Bank Texas and First Convenience Bank as a division of the larger bank....anyway my friend talked to the President at the location at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.....again all this talk does not mean they have inside info but it is talk that came from people at these banks that I know 100%.....so take it for what you think....in the past few years I have heard many bank rumors that I considered lies but this talk from employees of this bank were expressed and they didn't dodge questions.....I asked the question could I sell any of my dinars right now for the going rate and was told no until we had a RV.....again believe what you want...

This is my first time replying to a post. Please be gentle! I think this is the best bank story I have read. Thank you for sharing it! Two things have me really excited this week. First, Adam said he believes it will RV by Thanksgiving, and possibly at a higher rate than he previously predicted, and second, your bank story! And no, I am not a pumper, just an eager beaver who finally stopped doing 10 cent math this week and moved up to 86 cents! Do I dare go to a dollar? Or higher? Go RV already! Nothing like a great bank story to start the weekend!

I really hate to be the author of bad news. The purported bank stories are in my opinion false. Trust me, I have pounded the pavement in the Dallas area speaking with Branch Managers. Read my previous posts. It's important that all of you understand currency speculation. The IQD is not an investment!

As always, I'm being honest.

Peace to all!

Read more:

Not long at all. About10 minutes.

They have an excellent system here.

I had to wait longer for my ticket (numbered system),

as the lady handing them out was away from her desk.

So Kim what part of this story if false? or is it just any bank story is false?

Also we all know that we are speculating that the dinar will RV.

So don't get so hung up on it being called an investment.

This Swift Code is just a new word the Gurus have learned to pump up sales.

I have worked abroad since 1993 and have always used my bank routing number to wire transfer money back to the USA.

First time I even heard of this swift code was back in 1998 while working in England,,I called my bank in the USA and was no less given 3 different numbers for this depending on who I talked to, they were lost then as they are now.

If you are doing a wire transfer from abroad use the bank routing number as the swift code,,that's the number in front of your account number on your checks as the swift code.

Never failed me yet,,from Europe , to Thailand and many years in the middle east working and wire transfers.

Sad the gurus just hear this new word and try to act like they know something.

I am giving you an odd look... WHY? Because the people in the bank would not know more than we do! Seriously...

So, I dont know what is behind this and I am not doubting you as to this story, but to think there is some secret held back from us about an RV (time, date or rate) is just untrue. IT IS HIGHLY PROTECTED FROM MUCH HIGHER THAN ANY BANK PRESIDENT let alone a TELLER...

I become weary of pumpers trying to get people all excited to buy more Dinar.

I hope this RV happens as much as anyone here. I just dont think the odd look meant a thing, unless you made some kind of silly gesture or something. Did you leave anything out? LOL

Peace...

Swift Code is swift word used to PUMP...

Thank you for sharing! You are BRAVE :-) Ok SWIFT CODES are ALWAYS used for International Wires

Of course SWIFT or BIC codes exist, I mean come on folks google is your friend. But they have nothing to do with an RV or exchange rates, they are just international identification codes for financial institutions.

- need to know the two (or three) parties to the transaction - the tellers better have known this because they work at a bank! I would not expect a teller to have access to back screens- BUT I would expect the foreign currency department of the larger banks to have access to this type of data. It is really no different than level II or level I quotes for the securities industry. The professionals get a whole different level of view than the public. Further if you have a bloomberg terminal (about $1700 per month) you get to see EVERYTHING MOVING - of course you need about 4-5 screens minimum to watch all the activity. Anyway, I havent worked in a bank but based upon my experience in securities, and different levels of access - I believe its TRUE that the private side can see more than the public.

Its not a good analogy. What you can see if you have the bucks to get the service is detail in trading. LEVEL II does not for example tell you that GE in reality doubled in price but the public can't see it. All this back room "screen" stuff around banks and exchange rates is just pure BS. If and when the CBI makes an adjustment to their peg for the dinar, their won't be any secret about it. After all what would be the point? Edited by xyzzy

I call bull ** a banker from the usa would not and could positivly not have some "inside scoop" Incase you didn't know when shabibi was in the US last he was asked 3 main and important questions:

1. the first question asked was do you know a revaluation time frame? shabibi responded with a funny response "Even if I knew that I could not tell you"

2. What is going on with the project to remove 3 zeros. Shabibi responded by saying "The project for the 3 zeros removal has been not only set in motion but the central bank is 100% ready" But then he added "Althrough the central bank is ready to move forword with their endevors and that I have pathed a beatiful road of reform for the iraqi government, it is the government itself that must decide to follow the road and advance"

 I didn't know what exactly to call it.

I didn't want to say just trailer, then some might think moble home or camper.

It's a utility trailer that I use to haul my lawn mower back and forth from my house to my ex's house.

Just a little 5'x8', that's all.

Thats pretty much what I thought you were talking about...I was just kidding Brother.

There always has to be one, and your it!

So, now I'm giving you a funny look. <_<

I never stated that she knew any secrets.

But they may know more than you or I.

IDK, I'm not a bank employee, and never have been. Have you?

And if you had done any research, you would know that there is such a thing as "swift" codes. No big deal.

And I was pretty descriptive of the situation, and no I did not make a "silly" gesture.

Though I do have one for you.

All I did was tell the true facts of my experience, that's all.

If it means anything at all, only time will tell.

BTW... again if you did any research, you would know that I'm not a PUMPER.

Congrats on having the courage to post in here, Canuklady; it gets a bit warped in here at times. So I missed that comment by Adam - where was it?

Thanks in advance.

I think Adam's guesstimate of an RV by Thanksgiving is in the transcript of the last Wed chat. I don't recall him changing his view of the rate as being more than his usual number of a dime.

I have two bank stories. The first bank I went into and asked them if they would be exchanging the Iraqi dinar when it revalues. The lady looked at me like I was speaking Chinese. Finally the next teller spoke up and said no. I walked away kind of embarrassed. The next bank I went to I told the manager that I was expecting a big windfall from an investment and wanted to know what kind of rates he could give me for a million dollars on a money market account. He asked me if my investment was the Iraqi dinar and I said yes. He kind of chuckled and said "well come back when you get the money and we'll talk about it" as he sort of escorted me to the door. I walked away thoroughly humiliated. I suspect that most of the true stories are similar to mine.
