What happened to all that stimulus money? White America took that money that was supposed to create jobs and they bought themselves nice cars and homes and updated their factories and businesses. Then offered a few jobs to their friends. Had they done what that money was "supposed" to be used for....there would be a lot more people working. Don't you see? The Republicans are the ones with the money and the businesses! It's up to them to offer jobs up to the people, but why bring the unemployment figures down? That would make Obama look good! The Republicans can't have that now can they?

With the group of 12 in Congress meeting to move us forward with a plan, the posturing for the cameras by Congress may at least be out of the way. Hopefully, non-combative talks may take place to get us out of this mess that has reduced our credit rating. A plan still needs to go to Congress so that the democratic process has not been taken away. In the deal that was passed, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are off the table. This protects the poor, sick and elderly. These should be our priorities as a nation.

It is clear that taxes on the 2% of the nation that holds the most wealth, and taxes on the companies with huge tax loopholes and pay no taxes, need to be taxed to rid us of our huge debt. Also, this situation may take another stimulus to get people working on infrastructure as Dwight Eisenhower did to pull the nation out of recession. This is what has worked in the past and will again. If our president's hands are no longer tied, and should he have a more democratic congress, these things can be done.

The Republicans and Tea Party have shown that they protect the people who are supposed to create jobs, but instead hold onto that wealth. They protect companies against unions. They listen to lobbies instead of the people. They have taken over local governments in Wisconsin and in Michigan and thrown out the elected officials and brought in businessmen to run towns! That is a plan to take our vote away for sure.

I cannot understand how poor people and the elderly vote for Republicans when it is so clear that they are not protecting them and do not have their best interest at heart. I do hope that we keep our president in office and give him a Congress that will pass peaceful and compassionate measures for our future, get us out of wars, and help us care for our people here and in places around the world that need food and medical supplies. That's a plan that helps our nation, and puts us in good stead with other nations.
