Trimark
This is great news. It gets a lot of money onto the smart cards and will increase the use of this 'electronic currency' throughout Iraq. Also, don't forget when they say "next Sunday" they mean this one. Thanks for the post. Good find.
kinglizzy99
Silly thought...but gonna throw this out there anyways... If in fact we are close to an RV, doesn't it make sense that they'd want to RV prior to these distributions of 50,00-150,000 dinars/month per recipient? (which looks like it begins soon) The reason I say this is because it would at least give the GOI an opportunity to make amendments to the allocation amount accordingly (to the new rate)...whereas if they RV'd post-implementation of such program, there'd be a lot of exposed currency to the revalued rate...which would make Iraqis lotsa moolah (regardless of smart card route)... If I'm missing something logically simple, would love to hear others' perspectives. That's my 23.54 dinar...

Mammaw
Only goes to the men. Didn't I read that most of the families are ran by women, due to the head being dead??? So, that means these families are going to be left behind. Typical.

So, that means these families are going to be left behind. Typical. My first thought too. But it does say widows and divorced towards the end: "...which gives subsidies of minimum 50 thousand Iraqi dinars per month, with a maximum rate of 150 thousand dinars per month, and distributed in several sectors of society such as the elderly, widows, orphans, divorced and unemployed." aaanth
how else can they pay this amount without opening the budget and showing the rate? that don't have enough $$$ to do this otherwise. IF they do it then I'm thinking that this is it. If they go through with this payment this has to be with the new rate currency. shabibi is not stupid. hold on to your hats folks. this could be something big, IF, as i said, they actually make the payments. with iraq that's always a big if soooooooooooooo we shall see what we shall see... so far, i'm liking this A LOT!

From what I read the top nationals of social (no women included) and the bottom social protection (widows included) is two different things. This is dependent on two things. 1) the translation is a little rough 2) the govt isn't THAT stupid. I leave room to be wrong on either one. Open minded is he. BanG
Let's not loose focus in all this. First and foremost the Iraqi citizen needs money so desperately I pray they will get theirs first as they have suffered so much in this war. After they have been paid and their business is settled in Iraq I will extend my hands for my piece of the RV pie. JMO. Peace.

zaborniake
The Kuwati people recieved a lump sum, no? At the current rate 150,000 IDQ equals $128.70. That's not reasonable. This could be good news.

Brisco
I am very happy to hear that the are giving something to these people..I know it doesn't sound like much and it isn't much, but we are dealing with a 3rd world country whose money doesn't amount for much right now. I don't know how thise fits into the RV/RI of the dinars, but I am so glad that they will be getting some help. What would be even better is that the GOI gets their act together to revalue their money so it isn't just worth the paper it's printed on. The citizens being able to get some assistance from that government will make me feel alot better when the RV happens. Let's all pray it will happen very soon. Times are desperate and I know alot of people, including me, that really need this to happen to make our situation better. Many blessings fellow dinarians.. sailin12
Haven't submitted any valuable info before so here goes. Alot of info can be obtained from many news sources around the world, now, thanks to internet, still. Anyhow I came upon this article in the Seattle News, April 8,2011. caption is " UN - iraq's leaders must address...". Goes on to reveal PM's response to recent protest in the gov'ts ability to move towards a profitable Iraq. Pm's response besides his "100 day wait and see program" ( those are my thoughts), he responds "nothing is objected to or protested will be ignored.
