Baghdad Today - Baghdad

Retired workers were shocked after receiving their salaries under the new social security law and workers' retirement, despite the optimism of the application of the law and the government's promise that the minimum wage will be 500,<> dinars.

Baghdad Today monitored a state of dissatisfaction and anger after the implementation of the new law, despite the setting of the minimum salary at 500,<> dinars for retired workers and insured.

Some of the guaranteed retirees confirmed the registration of cases of fainting, high sugar and death from a stroke for some elderly workers, as monitored by "Baghdad Today" in the comments, while it was not possible for "Baghdad Today" to verify the validity of the information.

Some of the shortages in salaries came due to the application of an equation to the so-called "people with disabilities", where the health deficit rate was multiplied by 500,350 dinars, and their salary is the final result, which made the minimum salary for these people only 500,<> dinars in fact, not <>,<> dinars.

The Retirement and Social Security Department noted that retired workers who received their salaries for the month of December 2023 and who believe that they deserve higher retirement salaries, they must review the department to submit grievance requests, today, Thursday, for the purpose of recalculating their salaries, in accordance with the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers No. (18) of 2023 in force, until the opening of the (or) platform and then the application is electronic.

The concerned authorities emphasize the importance of the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers No. (18) of 2023, as it expands to include different segments of society working in the private sector (organized and unorganized), as well as many privileges, some of which "almost exceed" what an employee receives in the public sector.

The Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, announced last Sunday the entry into force of the retirement and social security law for workers in the private sector, after the Iraqi Council of Representatives voted on it, last May, in a move that the government described as essential within the economic reforms it promised, and to ensure the rights of workers in this sector.

Amir al-Mamouri, a member of the parliamentary labor committee, pointed out that "the retirement salary is not less than the average wage, which is 350,400 dinars at the present time, but in the future there is a trend to increase the salaries of workers and the average wage to be from 450 to 400 thousand dinars, so the retirement salary will not be less than 450 to <> thousand dinars."

Just like here in the US now--crazy high food prices and interest rates eating away the chance to save any money!!!

Millions and millions of people flooding into this country tend to make everything more expensive. Way to go Joe. Supply and demand including medical housing work roads just about everything. Food schooling, blah blah blah. But like the Disneyland hotel once told me during the interview, how do you work with Mexicans because we only usually hire them as they work for less and put up with More.

I probably would work for less and put up with more too if I was used to only making $10 or less a day. But then again, they have a place to retire to by going back home. This is my home and because the wages are so low and the price of everything is so high. I don’t have a way out like they do. Good luck to all. Go RV. go Donald Trump
