Shafaq News/ The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, said on Friday that the attack by ISIS elements on the Iraqi army in Diyala was a "failed" attempt to target the country's security.

"The cowardly terrorist attack on the army heroes in Diyala is a despicable and failed attempt to target our security, and certainly the attempts to revive terrorism in the region cannot be underestimated," Saleh said in a tweet.

He added, "We have a duty to strengthen the home front and proceed with the national constitutional entitlements to form a capable government that protects national security and serves the people."

A security source told Shafaq News Agency, that more than ten members of the terrorist organization ISIS launched a surprise attack at dawn today, with sniper weapons and medium weapons, on the headquarters of the Iraqi army (the headquarters of the First Company - First Regiment - Second Brigade - Division 1) between the villages of Al-Tala'a and Umm Al-Karami, west of Al-Azim district The accident led to the fall of 11 soldiers, including an officer with the rank of first lieutenant - the regiment's command.

He added that this attack is the most violent in years.

The border areas of Al-Azim district, 60 km north of Baquba, are subjected to continuous attacks and exposures due to the security gaps between the borders of Diyala and Salah al-Din and the absence of security units from the leadership of the Samarra or Diyala operations.

Yep, business as usual and innocent people die because Maliki and Iran can’t get what they want and Iraqi officials are concerned with the US solders leaving .Really?? I blame all of the people in the GOI including Sadr and Alkhezimi for allowing Maliki to exist no to mention be part of the GOI when he is clearly an agent of Iran. Iraq is a failed state and will remain that way until they stand up to Iran and Slimaki... this is the same man the Bush Administration put in office after the fall of Sadaam and we haven’t gotten anywhere in 19 years!! Maliki does whatever in the hell he wants... if Sadr had any balls he would order a drone strike on Maliki and let the chips fall where they may. Face it guys, we may never see a RV and I said this months ago. No international  company in their right mind will invest in this environment and that is exactly what Iran wants. They want complete control of Iraq and they are gonna get it. This whole invasion of Iraq has been a failure and it handed Iraq to Iran on a silver platter.Biden is not going to do a damn thing about it and Iran knows it!! It is gonna get worst! Mark my word!!

Former Interior Minister: ISIS escaping from Hasaka prison, their goal is Najaf and Karbala

241 security 2022/01/22 14:36 Baghdad today -

Baghdad Today, Saturday, former Minister of Interior Baqir Jabr Al-Zubaidi warned that ISIS escaping from Al-Hasakah prison in Syria aim to reach the (Syrian-Iraqi-Jordanian triangle) and then towards Houran and from there to the Najaf and Karbala axis. Al-Zubaidi said in a statement received (Baghdad Today) that "we will witness more escape operations, especially with the Kurdish SDF movement continuing to ignore the escape operations, while the intensive international coalition aircraft failed to find the fugitives from prisons who mysteriously disappeared," noting that "the real danger is It is the return of sympathy with the elements of the organization by the residents of the areas under the control of the “SDF” because of the practices carried out by the SDF against them, and it provides a safe haven for the fleeing elements.” He added: "We are mobilized by our security forces, border guards, and the forces supporting them along the border strip, which announced that they are ready to confront any terrorist infiltration. Despite the fact that Ghweran prison is very far from Iraqi territory, where it is adjacent to the Turkish border, where safe hostels are available! However, the infiltration hypothesis remains, especially since there is information confirming that the terrorist elements are trying to reach the (Syrian-Iraqi-Jordanian triangle) and then towards Hauran and from there to the Najaf and Karbala axis, a project announced by the ISIS terrorist spokesman Al-Adnani in one of his audio recordings, which confirmed that it is their target Najaf and Karbala and no other.” Al-Zubaidi explained that "the Ghuweran prison operation has implications for Iraq, especially since there are more than 8,000 members of al-Qaeda and "ISIS" in al-Hout prison, who have been sentenced to death, and those sentences have not been implemented against them so far, despite the issuance of most of them about four years ago. !! Note that the cost of the detainees is $240,000 per month, which means the possibility of repeating the Abu Ghraib prisoner escape incident in 2013, which was the main cause of the June 2014 setback and the loss of a third of Iraq.

 Baghdad: Huda Al-Azzawi

At every security breach exploited by terrorist gangs, voices escalate calling for the death sentence of thousands of terrorists who have been sentenced by the competent courts and approved by the Ministry of Justice. The existence of a legal loophole in the constitution that grants the President of the Republic an open and unrestricted period to ratify their rulings as the only one authorized to do so.
In an interview with "Al-Sabah", political analyst Dr. Haider Salman indicated that "there is a great negligence in the application of death sentences against terrorists, especially since most of them have spent a period ranging from six to seven years since the issuance of sentences," noting that "one of the important points that delays The application of death sentences, political differences in addition to the bureaucracy in the administration of the Presidency of the Republic until obtaining the signature of the President of the Republic to ratify their implementation, and there are several explanations for this delay in implementation.
In turn, the head of the Deans of Law Committee in Iraqi Universities and Dean of the College of Law at the University of Babylon, Dr. Miri Kazem Al-Khikani, explained in an interview with Al-Sabah that "according to Iraqi law, all judgments issued by criminal courts are obligatory distinguished and sent to the Court of Cassation for a procedure. Discriminatory checks on them, and when the Court of Cassation approves the death penalty by hanging in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, it is sent to the Minister of Justice, who in turn sends it to the President of the Republic to issue a republican decree to carry out the execution.
Al-Khikani explained that "the eighth paragraph of Article 73 of the Iraqi constitution, which shows the powers of the President of the Republic to ratify death sentences, did not stipulate a specific period for ratification, and it was possible that the period was limited, for example, to thirty days from the receipt of the file to the Presidency of the Republic, and when If the ratification is not issued by the President of the Republic, the judgments are considered ratified by virtue of the law.
He pointed out that "this text does not exist, and therefore the President of the Republic can legally and constitutionally not ratify the judgments issued for a long period, and this is what is currently happening," stressing the need for "parliament to hold the authorities concerned with negligence and obstruction in this dangerous file accountable."
For his part, legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi said in an interview with Al-Sabah: “We need a special law that legislates to determine the period of ratification and enforcement of the death sentence, as well as the period of execution, because the period is open in terms of ratification and implementation, noting that Article 86 of the Penal Code confirms that These provisions are valid and their repeal shall be by law.”
Al-Sabah had approached the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministry of Justice to inquire about this file, and did not get an answer from both parties due to the lack of response from the presidency and the lack of clarification from the Ministry.

An American report reveals “exciting” details of the “largest” attack by ISIS after the collapse of the “caliphate”

1

On Saturday, the American channel "ABC" considered that the two complex attacks launched by ISIS in Iraq and Syria are the "largest" since the collapse of the "ISIS Caliphate" three years ago, pointing out that the attack on Ghweran prison in Al-Hasakah, Syria. Led by "Iraqi fighters".

A report by the American channel, translated by Shafaq News Agency, said that more than a hundred militants affiliated with ISIS launched the attack on a prison in Al-Hasakah in Syria, where terrorists are being held, which ignited a battle with the Syrian Democratic Forces in which the American forces intervened, and the clashes continued, leaving dozens dead and wounded.

In addition to this attack, ISIS militants carried out another complex attack in a military barracks north of Baghdad, killing 11 Iraqi soldiers before fleeing, the deadliest attack on Iraqi forces in months.

The US report considered that these daring attacks indicate that the militants have been revitalized after they relied on a low level of insurgency in Iraq and Syria during the past few years, adding that the organization’s field control in Iraq and Syria was eliminated through a military campaign that lasted for years with American support, but ISIS fighters continued their work through “sleeper cells” that killed dozens of Iraqis and Syrians in the past months.

The report pointed out that the attack in Syria targeted Ghweran prison in Hasakah, which is the largest among several facilities run by the American-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, and where a large number of former ISIS militants are being held, and about 5,000 of the most dangerous leaders and militants of the organization are being held in Ghweran, according to the report. SDF spokesman Farhad al-Shami.

The report quoted the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, as saying that ISIS moved "the majority of its sleeper cells" in order to organize the operation to penetrate the prison, which took place on Thursday night through attacks by ISIS elements armed with heavy weapons and booby-trapped vehicles, with the aim of liberating the terrorist detainees.

Al-Shami talked about additional details about the attack, saying that the clashes started with a big explosion around 7 pm, followed by two more explosions later, according to a resident whose house overlooks the area, adding that the attack was complicated, and that the prisoners inside the prison rioted and tried to escape Simultaneously with a car bomb explosion outside, armed men clashed with security forces. A car bomb also exploded in a fuel depot, causing a fire that lasted until Friday.

The Kurdish forces are still trying to regain control of the prison, as there are still prisoners barricaded inside it, with the aim of trying to escape again.

In addition, according to the report, the Syrian Democratic Forces were launching attacks in the neighboring Al-Zohour neighborhood, where ISIS fighters are holed up. Al-Shami says that the clashes were intense and the movement was slow because the gunmen booby-trapped houses with explosives and used civilians as human shields, adding that the helicopters of the coalition forces and others Aircraft launched attacks during the battle, including in the Zohour neighborhood and on the prison.

The report quoted one of the citizens residing in the area, that helicopters always hovered in the sky, noting that civilians were fleeing from the Al-Zohour neighborhood and shops had closed their doors throughout Hasaka.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said, "This is not a domestic operation."

The report pointed out that the attempt to penetrate prisons is a tactic that has long been adopted by ISIS. During the rise of the organization in 2014, when it occupied large areas of Iraq and Syria, ISIS fighters carried out several attacks on prisons to free the terrorists.

As for Iraq, the attack that took place on Friday was, according to the US report, a "brazen strike" on a barracks in the mountainous Al-Azim area near Baqubah.

The Associated Press quoted security officials as saying that ISIS militants penetrated the barracks at three o'clock in the morning, after they killed a guard, then killed the soldiers, and successfully escaped.

The report concluded by noting that ISIS was defeated in Iraq in 2017, but its militants continued to launch attacks on security forces and the army, and they often attacked civilians, as they did last October when they attacked a Shiite-dominated village in Diyala province. , which led to the killing of 11 civilians and the injury of others.

Clashes and chases continue, two days after ISIS attacked Al-Sina’a prison in Ghweran in Al-Hasakah, northeastern Syria, which is described as the “largest prison” for “ISIS” detention in the world.

The official spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Forces, Aram Hanna, said, "We are now working to comb the Al-Zohour neighborhood in Al-Hasakah from ISIS elements, in light of the continuing intermittent clashes with the terrorist organization."

Hanna adds, according to "Sky News Arabia", that the SDF forces are chasing the terrorists on the northern and western axes, in addition to combing the Al-Zohour neighborhood, stressing that what hinders the SDF's progress is that the terrorists use civilians as human shields.

Hanna denied "terrorists' control of Al-Sina'a prison in Ghweran neighborhood," stressing that "the prison is under the control of the SDF forces and the highly qualified Internal Security Forces who are able to deal with these incidents in a manner that ensures the security of the area and the removal of danger."

On the losses of ISIS, the official spokesman of the Syrian Democratic Forces said that "29 of the attackers were killed and their bodies were in our possession, in addition to the arrest of many of them."

With regard to the SDF, 5 of its members were killed, along with a member of the Internal Security Forces, a firefighter, and 4 civilians targeted by terrorist cells, according to the same spokesman.

He added that the international coalition forces to combat terrorism provide air support for SDF operations in the face of the ISIS attack.

Ghweran prison houses 5,000 ISIS militants, most of whom are from Syria and Iraq, according to the sources of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and it is the largest prison for ISIS detainees in the world.

Shafaq News/ On Saturday, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, ordered the Peace Brigades to be on standby, to deter any potential danger.

Al-Sadr said in a tweet seen by Shafak News Agency, "The terrorist enemy is rumored to be coming, so if you are coming, we are able, but the biggest problem is what some are doing in exaggerating the matter to spread fear, terror and sectarianism among the Iraqi people, so that they see it as the protector of land and honor."

And he added, "No, we, as mujahideen and resistance fighters, do not bestow on anyone with our resistance or our jihad... Rather, we are all thanks to God Almighty for granting us success in this, and thanks are due to the great Iraqi people who accepted us to be among its defenders."

Al-Sadr continued, "In general, we are fully prepared, and the Peace Brigades must be ready alongside the security forces to deter any potential danger, and the government must strengthen the capabilities of the Iraqi army, which has the responsibility to protect Iraq and the people and not fail in that."

He stressed, "However, such news should not discourage the mujahideen, the patient and beloved people, or the reformers in completing (the government of the national majority), for perhaps they are pretexts to return to the zero point."
