Warnings of returning Iraq to "Chapter Seven" due to the bombing of missions

Today, Monday, legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi warned of Iraq's return to "Chapter VII" of the United Nations Charter due to the bombing of diplomatic missions.

Al-Tamimi explained that «Iraq will return to Chapter Seven for not being committed to providing protection for international missions, and because it poses a threat to international peace and security, and the UN Security Council will impose several economic sanctions on Iraq as a result.

Ali Al-Tamimi - Amad for the media

Noting that "the sanctions may come from the US side unilaterally against Iraq or against Iraqi personalities, as happened in the past, as they were included in the Magnitsky Act, which targets personalities threatening international peace."

The legal expert pointed out that "the withdrawal of international missions is a very dangerous matter, as the recognition by the international community of a state is represented in the presence and diplomatic representation, and if that representation is cut off, then it is tantamount to not recognizing that state."

Lots of threats being thrown around in Iraq. If Iraq were placed in Chapter VII again, that would thrown a magnifying glass and kleig lights on Iraq again and their economy, investors, trade, government, banking system, and upcoming elections. Not exactly what corruption really likes and that old adage about sunshine and disinfectant comes to mind. Probably wouldn't be too good for Iran and their supporters in Iraq either.  Lots of threats, lots of threats.

IMO: our embassy will never close, and the largest embassy in the world isn't just for "diplomats."  It is a strategic base. Our guys in the embassy know exactly where all the missiles are coming from and who is firing them and lots more, of course. Stay tuned.

He stressed "the importance of balance in the distribution of budget funds, as some provinces have launched allocations in full, including farmers ' dues ."

Baghdad / Al-Akhbariya

The head of the Iraqi coalition, Hussein Arab, asked, on Wednesday, about the reasons for not spending the money allocated to the liberated provinces so far, while calling for disclosure and openness about millions of dollars received by the previous government in the name of the liberated areas and the displaced.

Arab said in a statement, "We have funds from the reconstruction loans in liberated areas that have not been used so far, especially the World Bank sums that were granted to Iraq, which are estimated at 200 million dollars, and we do not know where they are and what are the reasons for not disbursing them."

He added, "Britain alone granted Iraq 10 billion euros as a loan, and the previous government received it without realistically benefiting from it."

Arab pointed out that "a simple employee in one of the ministries is behind the suspension of service projects related to loans," calling on the Finance Committee to "submit a reform paper to the prime minister instead of waiting for the government paper."

A report monitors the Iraqi split before the US elections

2020.10.08 - 09:03

Baghdad - People

A press report, Thursday, shed light on Iraqis ’interest in the US presidential race, and the report indicated that the US elections are being watched closely in Iraq, while identifying a state of division over that.

"The Iraqis found themselves in a state of severe division among the competitors, while their memories bear negative memories of Biden as the bearer of the project to divide Iraq into three states on ethnic grounds," Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper stated in a report followed by "People" (October 8, 2020). And sectarianism in the days of former Vice President Barack Obama, the position on Trump is still a subject of political controversy because of the ambiguous relationship between the United States and Iran and the use of Iraqi lands as an arena for the confrontation between them.

The report added, "Those who follow the various media and social networking sites will notice that Trump's infection with" Corona "has taken a wide range of Iraqi attention, despite the problems and crises, the most recent of which is the acute salary crisis, as well as corruption issues and early elections next year. On the political lines of division and the prior entrenchment between those who support a rapprochement with Washington and those affiliated with Tehran. "

The report pointed out that the attention of the Iraqis began to turn to what could result from the upcoming US elections, as the forces allied to Iran believe that Trump's loss will relieve pressure on Tehran and open the way for a new understanding on the Iranian nuclear file, given that Biden was one of the pillars of the administration that reached the agreement that was reached. Trump rescinded it. In return, the forces supporting rapprochement with Washington hope that Trump will remain in the White House for the next four years. Hoping for more pressure on Iran and weakening of the forces and militias loyal to it. For these parties, the survival of Trump, at the very least, means the continuation of the political equation in Iraq as it is.

Apart from the direct effects on their country, the report stated that the drama of sharp polarization and ethnic tension in the United States attracted Iraqis, who found intersections with the state of sharp political differences and the subsequent ethnic and sectarian alignments in Iraq. Whereas in the past the election campaigns did not occupy the Iraqi citizen concerned with his own problems, the current election campaign, and because of those alignments and sharp positions of the political forces, entered strongly on the Iraqi mood line, regardless of the desire of this or that party for Trump to stay or Biden coming.

While the majority of Iraqis see, according to the report, that the United States is, in the end, a state of institutions that is not greatly affected by the survival or departure of a president, the attitudes towards Trump of a sharp and volatile mood, and on Biden, who resembles many old Iraqi politics despite all the calls for generational displacement, It opened the door to projections on the Iraqi reality. With Trump afflicted with "Corona", Iraqi voices have emerged that consider it "merely an electoral trick to change the equation." But at a time when American opinion polls are still manipulating the mood, Iraqis have maintained their prior stance on Trump or Biden.
