  I remember it like it was yesterday. Very sad indeed. We had 2 Chinese going to school here. There parents told them to stay in Canada and apply for asylum. They did and were granted it almost Immediately. They are no longer safe to go home, so after many years they can visit family in different countries on holidays.

 

God, 30 years already ? Thxs Umbertino. My only hope is the world never forgets.

I too recall having watched reports from China every single day  back then in that particular period of time as I did focus ( and got passionate) on this very issue ...

 

I even hoped at one point that maybe things were going to get different...Unfortunately that was not the case....

 

When one day the TV reporter correspondent from China ( a very good Italian TV journalist) said China regime decided to deploy to Beijing  soldiers from a far province who did speak a diff language from the one spoken in the city so that those soldiers  couldn't understand the things those students and workers were trying to tell them....I felt that was the end......Which did occur
