Slashing the tax rate on corporations means the shortfalls must be made up from somewhere else. A 28% duty on imports is one way. This could drive up inflation by making anything imported more expensive.

Well heres the real story. At the same time they cut the corporate tax rate domestically. The bill essentially states that all corporate dollars made off shore will also be taxed at the same rate. Is it legal? Yes. Corporations who keep their earnings offshore, will now be taxed. The result is just this. Sounds like a great deal for american workers right? The theory being that if the GOV collects taxes from corporations who make money in other countries, then there is no incentive to take jobs offshore. Well that may work with the very large Corporations who have their headquarters here. What about the mid level companies, who just say lets move our corporate office to say the "Bahamas"? Then the so called jobs that were supposed to be saved also disappear. Just a thought.:rolleyes:

Corporation are not getting any favors from Obama's new lower tax proposals. Along with the tax reduction & new taxes overseas comes the added burden that all corporations big & small must provide some form of Obamacare or contribute. Small mom & pop shops are next. Many small businesses hardly making it will go under if Obamacare is forced on them & it will be forced on them when phase two Obamacare kicks in next year.

If anyone cares, (because I'm not finding anybody where I live who cares) In the constitution the exact wording is "we are given the right to bear arms so that we will never have to live under an oppressive government"... The problem is there are now more non americans and people who are recievers of obama's bull, than people who are payers. Why are non of our elected senators or congressman stopping his madness.

THE WELFARE STATE IS HERE

The dangers of the Welfare State are 1) it often is unjust in taking lawful property from individuals through excessive taxation, 2) it substitutes the collective judgment of the government for the freedom and judgment of the individual 3) it discourages initiative and entrepreneurship by individuals, and 4) it leads to excessive government power and hence corruption. The danger of these tendencies of the welfare state were well summarized by Lionel Trilling, a respected man of the contemporary liberal left as quoted by Gertrude Himmelfarb in her book Poverty and Compassion (Knopf Publisher 1991) “Some paradox of our natures leads us, when once we have made our fellow men the objects of our enlightened interest, to go on to make them the object of our pity, then of our wisdom, ultimately of our coercion. It is to prevent this corruption, the most ironic and tragic that man knows, that we stand in need of the moral realism which is the product of the moral imagination”.

As the distinquished political economist F. A. Hayek has stated; “The guiding principle that a policy of freedom for the individual is the only truly progressive policy remains as true today as it was in the nineteenth century”.

Unfortunately your statment is very profound. Our country is at that very doorstep. It is kinda weird. We all sense it and know it but somehow feel powerless to stop that momentum. :(:(:(

If you want to know the REAL reason why jobs are being sent offshore - think health care. In 2005, Toyota had a choice between building a new plant in Canada, and one on the US. The incremental cost per car of health care in Canada at that time was $120. In the US, it was $1500. The same situation remains today. Do the math. Our health care system has priced the American worker out of the international labor market. BTW, Obama's payback "health reform" bill to the AARP and Big Pharma won't even put a dent in the real problem. Want REAL health care reform? Start by looking in the mirror.

When the last remaining foundary closed it's doors last year leaving our town economicly devistated & in financial ruin, then re-locating to Vietnam, our CEO told us it was not high wages that drove them to this decission. It was the red tape, the beurocracy, the high corporate taxes, the business unfriendly climate of this Administration & the uncertainty or insecurity that drove them offshore.

Many other small towns across America are also going through this exact same thing as we speak. We, the voters, did this to ourselves.

Heath care costs is the #2 issue driving business out of the country. High corporate taxes are the #1 reason why. Followed by outdated regulations that hinders productivity & competivness. Last but least are American wages. It never was about wages. Wages are always blamed.
