Fox News - Should You Invest In Iraq?
skitealwedrop replied to supergirl's topic in Iraq & Dinar Related News
Iraq has enormous potential. The problem is Maliki and Parliament. The sectarian divide within Iraq is cause for concern. The greed and lack of a cohesive government is a problem. The outside influences of other countries are too a concern. There is also a lack of infrastructure to deliver the goods to the open market. I will wait and see. -
This case was used by the media and certain politicians to inflame racial conflict. It's shameful. I had lunch today with my daughter and her colleague. Her co-worker happens to be a native of Ethiopia. The purpose of our meeting was to discuss software and accounting practices. I left our meeting in awe of a beautiful and intelligent black women that is brilliant. The color card in my world is non existent.

Thanks Rod. I want the best for all of us! Peace to you.

Thank you for your work and your positive message, AM. I am as well. I do believe that we will make a profit from our investment. I own a minuscule amount of IQD as opposed to others that are members of this site. My hope is that I can make enough cash to pay off my daughter's student loans. She is 26, she is now making 58k a year two years post college. Her education paid off. I have a 16 year old son that will be a Junior next year. He is bright! I would love to pay for his college education in cash without student loans. I would consider my investment a success if I can get the return to pay for my children's education. No greed here! Be well all! Ski

Good post Socal. There are plenty of unrealized assets in Iraq. Gold, oil and other minerals are abundant. The problem is that the GOI is less than stellar and Iraq lacks infrastructure to mine and pump. I should also mention the corruption that takes it's toll on the Iraqi economy. For now I will remain optimistic and go about my life without expectation.

President says all elected officials knew about the data mining

The politicians in this country do consider themselves above the law. I have witnessed such in my county and am aware that the same occurs at the state and federal levels. American voters are so lazy! -

I'm not too terribly concerned. I have nothing to hide. If I have to give up some of my civil liberties, so be it in the effort to prevent future terrorism in our country. I will pay that price. We live in a different world now. Btw: I'm a Verizon customer and agree that we need to clean house in our capital starting at the top. Come on voters, we can do better! American voters are responsible for our current president, congress and the members of the senate. The supreme court is another story. -
***China buys Costa Rica for 1.5 billion**
skitealwedrop replied to easyrider's topic in Off Topic posts
I dated the U.S. Consulate to Costa Rica for many years. Costa Rica is a fine country with a stable government. I'm optimistic with regards to their tourism and trade revenue. Costa Rica is a great country for a business model and to live a quiet life. -

***China buys Costa Rica for 1.5 billion**
skitealwedrop replied to easyrider's topic in Off Topic posts
China didn't buy Costa Rica for 1.5B. Your article is misleading, at best. Costa Rica is a Democracy. I have had the opportunity to visit the country. It's possible that China is shipping production work to CR. That would boost the economy for the workers in the poor country that I love. -
On another note. Gold has been used to prop up economies falsely. The banking system revolves around gold. The US and other countries have used the mineral to base their economies and purported wealth. Gold is a minute portion of a countries assets. Manufacturing and exports are the main source of income for many countries. Unfortunately, the US and Corporate America don't understand that. The US is in trouble. The lack of jobs and the overspending in DC are partially to blame. Education is key if want a decent job in the US.

Why are you asking, Fly? Are you aware of a stash that you should share with me? Actually, I have a client that is a jeweler. They have been in business for 45 years. There is no discount to manufactures for gold purchased to manufacture a piece. Diamonds are another story. I have learned a lot about the jewelry business. Gold is refined over and over again. Most gold is not worth the value that is purported. Iraq may have gold reserves that are deemed to be an asset. The purity of Iraq's gold is unknown and most likely not on par.

Mormon Dinar dealer - finally answered his phone -

Mormon's have a policy of keeping quiet, if you know what I mean. -
The Iraqi economy is on the mend, imo. I'm not happy with the GOI at present. I never will be due to the Muslim male dominated cesspool in Iraq, Iran and Syria. Personally, I don't care about Iraq and it's inhabitants. I'm way over the culture in the ME. Iraq will never compare the Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi and others. I would like to make a few bucks off this investment, in the interim I will continue to work my a$$ off without worry of the outcome of IQD. Currency speculation is not an investment to hang your hat on.

Maliki is a dictator, with no concern for his people. The Iraqi's deserve a GOI that is observant to their needs and their future. Iraq could be a healthy nation economically, unfortunately the current regime is ineffective. The boys in the M.E. are often embedded and corrupt. History repeats it's self. An assassination attempt of the PM might bring change in Iraq. We will have to wait to see what occurs.
