  1. That's nothing new really. They aren't talking about the value of the dinar they are talking about what it costs to exchange it in the market. If someone uses dollars to purchase something the business has to exchange that and they put a value on that. This is just saying they want to keep it at a consistent rate rather than one merchant charging one thing and the next something else. It is important for economic development and therefore an increase in dinar value.
  2. Happy Valentines day to you Enjoy the day. We are old married folks and although we acknowledge the day we don't do anything to extravagant. Our girls still at home...the teenager is anti Valentines day and the youngest could care less cuz she just had her birthday
  3. Had to read this just because my son has a good friend he went to basic with whose last name is Blankenship
  4. Nice to see you back Sandfly, we all get a bit anxious when we don't see you for awhile
  5. A guy who works with my husband just did the same thing "cash for keys". He walked away with $4000 and all he saved by not paying his mortgage for 2 years. His was a totally different situation...he had gotten divorced and knew he couldn't afford the house on his own so just stopped paying on it. The foreclosure process took 2 years and like I said...he walked out with the 4000.
  6. Mrparrot....I am so sorry to hear this news. What a terrible thing to happen. We refinanced our mtg from USAA to another company with just a little better rates...and OCWEN is the company we send our payments to. We had a bit of an issue with them when they first took over as we have our payment automatically deducted each month and they just could not get it right for about the first 3 months and then wanted to charge us late fees. Ummmm no, the payment is scheduled to come out of our account 4 days before the due date. If it's late, then it's Ocwen's issue and not ours. Watched my bank account and it came out of my account on time each and every month but they were not posting it to our account until 15 days after it was due. Finally got them straightened out and have been good now for over a year. No matter how dark things look now, please remember that things can improve dramatically in a short amount of time....and not necessarily due to a RV....I am a believer in a door shutting and another opening. (((hugs))) to you and your family.
  7. Well the guru's haven't been right yet...so I am going to go with the opposite of what they say here too
  8. mrparrot...you are correct. If the rv happens at a one to one and they leave the 0's alone then 25000 IQD will equal 25000 USD. Not hard to see that making change would be a nightmare. Without lower denominations they would need to make change with USD. That can certainly be done, but I believe that is what the banking reforms are trying to do. Get the people to use electronic ways of payment. Then it wouldn't matter if their coffee was 1 dinar or 10 dinar, no change would be needed with a credit/debit card. I believe they want to use the dinar but without a lower denomination in place they will still be having to use USD to create change. Eventually all the large denominations would be pulled from the streets but they need something to take their place. So hopefully all the guru talk has some merit and there are lower denominations waiting in the wings for when a revalue happens. Unless they increased the price of items to compensate for the higher denominations...but that just invites inflation. Don't know....I guess we just wait and watch what they are doing for now
  9. Mrparrot...increasing the value of the dinar in Iraq does not make the people in Iraq millionaires. It increases their purchasing power. They will be able to buy more with their dinars. They aren't exchanging them they will be using them.
  10. Thanks Butifldrm I want to be able to "issue instructions from the yacht"
  11. Thank you Uneek...good article. 1 million is a lot of money to me...if we would be so lucky to get it, it would be a nice supplement to our retirement funding. Would be nice to live out our golden years without having to squeek every dime...but we certainly wouldn't change much in our lives
  12. Hollywood supports this but vilifies American Sniper....what a bunch of ********.
  13. Thank you Adam. I am starting to get cautiously excited. We would like to retire soon and it would be great to have a much larger nest egg where we would not need to work at all to fill the gap between earning wages and retirement wages....unless of course we really wanted to
  14. LOl...the "every winter" made me think of back when I lived in ND. We had a snowmobile club and although winter was prime time to ride....they also had summer lake races. Did you know a snowmobile will skim across the top of the water....well until it doesn't anymore Lots of boys (ie rich kids) would get the newest and best sleds and then take them across the lake. Made me cringe and then shake my head when those sled ended up at the bottom of the lake about half way through.
  15. Not really irrelevant...it's just not necessarily pointing to an RV. What it is showing is the progress the country is making. Without forward movement there can not be any sort of revaluation of their currency. I don't believe the budget has anything to do with a rate increase. I do believe that it does show the distribution of the wealth...ie: HCA or HCL, which is a major step. Lots and lots of baby steps.... wonder how many if I go back and count for the past 10+ years.
  16. I live right next door to Yorkville....wonder if 5/3 will exchange when the value increases. I have never asked anyone in a bank anything about the IQD....sometimes I want to just to see what they say My kids have accounts at Old Second....maybe one day when I go in to make their deposits I will just casually ask if they know anything!! Although they may look at me like I am the crazy lady after that.
  17. I think that they should just set their budget at what it takes to pull the oil out of the ground. If it's $24...then set the budget at $24 per barrel. I really know that is not how the budget works...but as long as the prices are falling and rallying just barely to only fall again....seems like it would be a good starting point.
  18. Nice fence. Won't keep them from tunneling under but will keep them from snipping the fence and squeezing through. If they put up a worthwhile fence along our southern border they could spend less patrolling it and more resources finding and destroying the elaborate tunnels coming from Mexico.
  19. Me too. Family and friends are truly what count. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to your parents. WOW....58 years. One of my good friends celebrated their 50th and unfortunately my good friend died before the 51st. Amazing how easy the couples with a good marriage make it seem but they will be the first to tell you that there was plenty of work along the way.
  20. The thing that they also do not mention is that this is Trig's service dog. He is there to help Trig...he certainly doesn't look like he is being hurt. Anymore than the dog with the child that Ellen DeGeneres featured on her show (although that one does seem to be thinking....Is she almost done!)
  21. I know what my statement says. Sometimes a dislike of someone is not reasonable. You must have met someone sometime that rubbed you the wrong way. Just because she is a politician doesn't mean that I can't just not like her....and because she does remind me of someone that I do know and do not like...well that just makes it more so. Maybe it's her voice...maybe it's the way she holds her head. I really don't know and I really don't have to justify myself and my reasons for not liking her. I just don't. I explained that it is not her politics or her views...so I guess it's personal and tried to stay out of the bashing that goes along with not going with the republican flow or the democratic flow. Edited to add...just because I don't like her personally does not mean that I disagree with her politics and may or may not stand up for her when it comes to her policies and views..that would depend on what it was.
  22. I am not a fan of Sarah Palin..and it's not because of her politics or her ideals..but rather that she reminds me of someone that I can't stand. However...I feel that people (and especially PETA) are getting themselves all twisted up for nothing. Look at the picture where he is actually standing on the dog. The dog looks completely relaxed. If he was uncomfortable he would move. Should a child stand on a dog? No...that is not good for their spine but from one picture can we tell if its a daily thing or it just happened to be that the dog was in the spot where Trig needed him to be and he took advantage of it. She certainly doesn't say that the dog is always his stepping stool. Sure she should make sure that Trig knows this is not something that he should do....but he's a kid...they do things that we as adults know they should not do PETA also believes we should not own animals...that they should all be free. Hmmm yeah, I can see my animals trying to live free on their own without me there to feed them. Stupid people that have taken an organization that had good intentions in the beginning into a laughing stock that no one should take seriously anymore.
