  1. If this moved you, they have a book out. They have won the Jimmy V award, and are truly an inspiration. I have been racing for several years now, and Triathlon's are hard enough. An Amazing father/son.
  2. She served up the Number 10 poo poo plater, along with the cream of sum yung guy.
  3. C'mon Luigi, let us all in on the joke. Your financial situation aside, you are kidding ........right??????
  4. Quite frankly 4 dinar move doesn't mean pip!
  5. This is just me spitballing, but if his comparrison of $10 billion (2007) to today $76 Billion. Is 7.6 times greater, that should make the dinar (all others things being equal) worth 150 dinar to the dollar. If you assume prgress in building out infrastructure to be worth twice that in 2007 (just my guesstimate, I have no figures to back that up) it should be 75 dinar to the dollar or 1 dinar equals 1.3 cents. So a $.10 RV is not that far out of the question. JMO
  6. Couldn't agree more. They want to go back to hating us as much as all of their neighbors, and how can they do that when they have to whip out paper with Ben Franklin and George washington on it to buy groceries.
  7. Erbil, Erbil, Erbil.....anyone?????
  8. Debt free of course, take a vacation. It's fun to dream everyone, but stay grounded!!!!
  9. My friend, you and I are of similar philosophy. I was simply wondering because it is possible to buy physical gold in other currencies. I can buy it in Pounnd sterling/euro/aussie dollar/swiss franc etc. The gold is then mine, and stored in a safe place. I was wondering if this is done from a 25k dinar note or warka perspective, how could it be taxed as a US citizen if I buy under the limits. I know the immediate response it to say "well you gotta pay tax". I know, but how , why , and under what mechanism since I am not realizing a gain. Kind of like a 1031 or 1035 exchange.
  10. Just thinking out loud, but If you use dinar to buy silver , hopefully after an aprreciable RV. Is there a tax bill? Before you jump and say yes (and I'm talking about income tax) Why? Just asking.
  11. "The Bitcoin network is fully decentralized, so there is no one with the ability to monitor the network and block illicit transactions. If WikiLeaks had funded itself through the Bitcoin network, the government would not have had such an easy time freezing its funds." So I guess everyone is guilty until proven innocent!!!
  12. There is also a flip side of this equation. They are also about to (over the coming decade) become a larger and larger exporter of oil (and other) resources. Correct me if I'm wrong, but typically if you are an exporter of goods, a weak currency benefits you because you can get more for your goods. Iraq currently (as you rightly point out) imports just about all of thier stuff. They also have a unique situation where they currently operate with two currencies, mainly the one that happens to be the World reserve currency.
  13. That is cool, but it is most definatly not an F-14 Tomcat.
  14. Is there any room left for a productive, tax paying gun owner. I want to move to Texas!!!!!
  15. Fib , I'm not sure you are, and I hope you are not seeing me as arguing with you (or anyone else) , just trying to figure this out because it is important , and looking for input. I think where we differ is I convert the 40 Trillion Dinar to market value USD before I value the gold backing value. I'm not sure if I should be doing that or not.
  16. I am guessing I am confused and wrong. if Iraq has 40 Trillion of something (widgets/dinars/whatever) and it is worth 34 Billion USD, which is backed by 1.6 Billion USD in Gold, is the 40 Trillion of something worth 4.6 cents? My head is spinnging.
  17. And if that is true I get 4.6 cents of gold per dinar. Please forgive the rounding errors, and again, just trying to get an approximate value of dollar to dinar.
  18. This is what I got.. 32150 Troy Ounce: The traditional unit of weight for precious metals and gems. 1 troy ounce = 480 grains 1 troy ounce = 24 scruples 1 troy ounce = 20 pennyweights (North American jewelery trade) 1 troy ounce = 1.097 ordinary ounce 1 troy ounce = 8 drams 1 troy ounce = 31.1034768 grams. 1 troy ounce = 120 carats 1 troy ounce = 155.52 metric carats (diamonds / precious stones). 3.75 troy ounces = 10 tolas (Indian sub-continent) 6.02 troy ounces = 5 taels (Hong Kong) 12 troy ounce=1 troy pound 14.583 troy ounce =16 avoirdupois ounce (1Pound) 32.15 troy ounces = 1 kilogramme (Kilo) 32,150 troy ounces = 1 metric ton (1,000 kilos) 1000 troy ounces = 31.1 kilograms http://www.goldcalculator.com/index_files/page0033.htm But in any event, using your number of $1.2 Billion USD value, and assume 40 Trillion IQD (notice I said assume) at and exchange rate of 1170 to the dollar ($34.1Billion usd). Does that not put the IQD value in gold ALONE at 3.5 cents. Please check my math and logic. I am not saying anything about an RV rate, just trying to guesstimate gold reserve per dinar.
  19. 32150( ounces of gold per ton) x 31 tons equals 996,650 ounces. Multiply by $1650 usd per oz. equals about $1.6 Billion. My math right?
  20. What about Muhamad Mustafa Muqtada al-Sadr Talabani Kareem Shakira Beyonce Skyhook al- maliki liki "the dragon" Johnson? What did he/she say?
