Scrumdiddles...as I think you can tell, you have many people on DV that care for you. To me, that speaks tremendously about who you are as a person. There have been others who have gotten into hot water and come back with an apology, but I have never seen the response you have gotten. PP's advice of writing out what you want to say then cooling off before you post it is very good. However, that can be difficult when you are in the middle of a debate. Instead, I would like to offer you something to think about the next time someone irritates you. These words help me keep my head when the person I am talking to is starting to irritate me. I used to think that exact same thing. But then I began to ask a simple question. If the dinar is pegged to the dollar at 1166, why would it fluctuate? So what if the dollar goes up or down. Pegged is pegged. If the dollar is trading higher, that just means that the dinar is more valuable relative to other currencies...not the dollar. The value of the dinar should not change because it isn't traded...or so we have been led to believe. I still haven't found a good explanation why...I just know a fluctuating dollar isn't the reason.

Couldn't agree more. We were created to really only want two things...to love and to be loved. The real key is to love yourself first...because if you don't love yourself, there is no way you can love anyone else. You can't give what you don't have.

Your house actually could act as a barrier, depending on what kind of radiation it is. The problem you have then is that as the house absorbs the radiation, it becomes radioactive. This all depends on what kind of nuclear fissile material is in that reactor. We are bombarded by natural radiation every day by the largest - and only - fusion reactor in the solar system. Trace amounts of nuclear material are still in the environment from all the atomic bomb experiments in the 1950's. Taking radiation pills is probably a prudent course of action, but to call this a mass extinction event is, I think, a little premature...at least until we know for sure what kind of material and what amounts we are being exposed to.

How, exactly, do you prepare for a mass extinction event? If we don't have the technology to stop this from happening, what's the prognosis? I know it's not going to kill everyone in a flash...what's the timeline? What's the projected increase in cancer rates a la Chernobyl? Other than moving to where prevailing wind patterns reduce the fallout exposure risk, what can the average person do?
