  1. I bank at El Paseo Bank. Because I wanted to prevent the government putting a hold on any large amount of money transferred into my account due to terrorism laws, I called the VP of my branch and told her I was transferring a large sum and wanted to prevent any holds. "Is this a scam?" she says to me. Now, if I thought it was a scam, would I think I was getting any money to transfer? Yes, it is a scam and I know I am being ripped off. I just wanted to call you to look stupid. This is the level of individual we are talking about at bank branches, even the vp level. They know nothing - on many levels. Don't waste your breathe or time. And the people that think that a bank is going to tell you they are bringing in reserves of cash, have got to be out of their minds. Bonnie and Clyde may come back to life for that one. Butch Cassidy will definitely show up. Come on!
  2. Cardinal Sin, thank for the information. I must say that I have been critical of their "vacations" but this information makes sense. Actually, when our politicos come together with a statement, or a policy, or perhaps a foreign dignitary has a visit to discuss a certain policy, the decisions have already been made. What we see are just the photo ops. So our political culture is much the same. Although, we do include women 'in the tent'. And I would say to those that are critical of the ME way of life, camels, tents, blah, blah, blah, I would examine what progress really means. Just because the rest of the world is not like us, they don't look or dress like us, they don't have the same values as us, that does not make them wrong. Many peoples live very happily, enjoy the simplest aspect of life, live and take just what they need from the earth. I am not talking about countries that have been plundered or exploited. There are many cultures that do not have cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and life strangling stress. Look at the commercials on TV. How many are for pharmaceuticals that span everything from leg pain to dysfunctional libido. And if you read the bottle, if your prescription does not kill you, the side effects will. Our society is so fixated on material things (in general, not all people) and do not care what they do to the earth to get what they want. If you bought a brand new car, rolled up the windows and slept in for a week, the chemicals would probably give you brain damage. That doesn't happen with a camel. We are stressing out over getting a good return on our investment that is just taking way toooooooo long, so we can quit jobs we hate. I have waited way too long to make a few million. It has been at least 3 months! I am as guilty as anyone. Just my two cents. Looks like we are into the Iraq weekend. I hope everyone at DV has a good weekend.
  3. If plebians like us invest in something like IQD that will bring great wealth - it is a scam. If Donald Trump invests in something like IQD that will bring him even more wealth - he is a smart businessman.
  4. Don't forget that Thursday is their last day of the week. They do not go back to "work" until Sunday, therefore, a two day break. Although, with the critical events brewing in the ME, I would think they would work through their weekend and take care of business.
  5. Hold up there, partner. MPG350 knew it was a joke. He was saying that your made-up story was about as valid as the stories trying to be passed off at a "rumor." Say you are sorry and make up. As i just said as a reply in another post, we all need an RV now, ...... or a drink. I vote for the first option. Cheers!
  6. Your message came across as an agreement and was not negative. I don't think anyone was getting on your case. Me thinks we all need an RV,..... or a drink! Cheers!
  7. French women that had hungry children stormed the Bastille and started the French Revolution. It can be done again! Go Ladies!
  8. Since we will all be self-sufficient soon and do not have to work for a living, perhaps this group should form an alliance to promote what citizens want from OUR government. I believe there are thousands, if not a million or two, that would participate around the country, along with forming concrete ideas and solutions. But no one knows how to organize it. If you had the time and a little bit of seed money (you would get a tremendous amount of donations to carry the costs). It would be something I would do if anyone else is interested. I have been thinking about it for a long time. We have a lot of smart people all over the country and is a base to get the ball rolling. We need to do something rather than talking about it. This is our government and we need to take it back. Our base premise could be getting corporate money out of the election process. People do not believe the media any longer. But they do believe their neighbors, friends and family. This could be one of the best things we could do for our country. I think we are ripe!
  9. Weather is just another term for vacation - it is just unexpected, like a free day.
  10. I would not put too much into this. What would we expect any financial entity to tell us that would not cause chaos for them. Their offices would be flooded with people asking questions, their phone lines would explode, and the email inboxes would melt down. And would it not be somewhat like insider trading for Warka to say, yes, we are expecting an RV. Just my opinion...
  11. The Gallery photos are always wonderful. It is really nice to actually see DV members and their family and friends as something other than an avatar. I especially enjoy seeing the military photos! As a civilian, it is not often than I get to see candid photos of our military - it always makes my heart swell. dinarhead, djagabrielle, and riley had some great ones this morning. Go Alabama! Thanks to all of you DV photographers for sharing a part of your life with the rest of us. I look forward to the newly posted photos as much as I look forward to Doc's post every morning.
  12. Yes. $150. per million dinar is the charge. I would think that if I cashed in the dinars at a bank and deposited a couple of million in dollars into an account, the bank should not be charging me anything. Even if the money sat in the account for 24 hours they would make money. Unless I am wrong, and please let me know if I am. But I agree, DT is the way to go for cashing in. $150 per million is a great deal.
  13. I saw a report on this last week. With everything going on in the ME as far revolt and demonstration, this seems to be a situation that you would want to handle right away. Even without the problems, the government should have had this taken care of long before the contract ran out. This could be a tipping point for people that are already in a situation similar to the lower class Egyptians. Seriously, what is wrong over there? Potholes, okay.......electricity...not so much.
  14. Go to the News section. You can read budget news there.
  15. I love it. You should hook up with TJ - he is predicting February 3rd because of his horoscope, and several of us agree. Is that metal as in coin? Here's to astrology!
  16. TJ, Ok, I went to the horoscope link too. February 3rd is looks like our RV day. This horoscope was for Capricorns: Financially, you appear to be going into a high spending period from January 15 to February 23. If you are going through a lifestyle change, such as to get married, buy a new house, move, start a business, or have a child, you already expect to spend more than usual.
  17. Well, this is good news. If this RV is going to really happen, I need to clean out the dusty savings account and buy more dinar. I can't wait to try the Le Rue machine too! I am sure the banks will let us do that. And gosh, if the Bush family really is into oil, I hope they bought dinars with their savings. Maybe they need the extra money. Labdog, your information is so credible, I bet your have a great dealer you bought your dinar from. Would you mind giving me the name so I can buy more dinar form them? Thanks a bunch! You are probably right about the engineers, chemical engineers, I bet. They have probably heard about that oil in the ME and will want to ready to go in the next day or so. 18. The USA is China's biggest customer. Do you think they jeopardize that relationship? We could not pay the debt, so what would it gain for them? If we cannot buy from China, then their economy will collapse. We collapse, they collapse, the world collapses. That is quite a house of cars. It is not logical from the first sentence.
  19. In this case, a judgment on judgement might be an option.
  20. While I am not an expert on the ME, but a simple news reader. But one of the issues for the current revolt in Egypt is that Mubarak, who is in is 80s and not in good health, wanted to put is son into his job, which more than likely, would have happened very soon. Al-Maliki has got to be so confident, stubborn and arrogant to do this. Again, I am not an expert, but I would think this could be a nail in his coffin. Please, I welcome comments.
  21. At this moment, it look like Egyptian protesters are on their way to getting what they want - Murbarak out, and the Army is supporting the protestors. Call me crazy, but I have a gut feeling that the government will fall and Mubarak will be replaced with with Albaradei (sp) immediately, and I feel it will be a fairly smooth transition. I think Maliki and his cronies are watching intently, as many are, and thinking about what can they do to quell their discontented masses. We all know what would take care of that - RV. I believe the Egyptian and Tunisian unrest and success in toppling the dictators, is good for Iraq and any other ME countries that may do the same. The Egyptian and Tunisian success could be the bump that we and the Iraqi people need.
