Iraq premier in Kuwait to boost ties (AFP) 16 February 2011 KUWAIT CITY — Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki arrived in Kuwait Wednesday for a one-day official visit expected to focus on boosting economic and political ties between the two Arab neighbours. Maliki is due to meet with Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah and hold official talks with his counterpart Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah. Ahead of the visit Kuwait’s State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Rudhan al-Rudhan said talks will discuss ways of boosting “economic and trade ties and other issues of concern between the two countries.” The visit is Maliki’s first to Kuwait after his re-election to the post and after a Kuwaiti premier ground-breaking trip to Baghdad in January, the first by a Kuwaiti premier since the Iraqi troops invaded the emirate in 1990. The two Arab nations still have a number of outstanding issues related to the Iraqi occupation to resolve including multi-billion-dollar war reparations, debt and demarcation of land and maritime borders. Iraq still owes Kuwait more than $20 billion in compensation for Saddam Hussein’s invasion of the emirate and Baghdad has repeatedly called for a solution to this issue. Kuwait has also demanded the return of its stolen property and remains of hundreds of citizens who went missing during the Iraqi occupation. "The loyalty for the security ministries must be for Iraq and its public interests, and not the personal and narrow-party interests, as well as their nomination must stem from their integrity and high efficiency in carrying out their duty," Hamid al-Mutlaq told Aswat al-Iraq News Agency, charging "Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki and the leaders of political blocs, with being responsible for the delay of naming the security ministers." He expected that "Maliki and the leaders of different political blocs would meet to nominate their candidates for the said posts, in order to select the best candidates," adding that the "settlement of the issue of the security ministers can't be settled in one Parliament session, due to the sensitivity of this issue and its impacts on all aspects of life." Iraqi Drilling Company Plans 76 Wells in 2011 Posted on 15 January 2011. Tags: Iraq Drilling Company, Iraqi Drilling Company Iraq’s state-run Iraqi Drilling Company plans to drill 76 wells in 2011 as part of a national effort to boost oil output to more than 200,000 barrels per day, the head of the firm said on Friday. According to Reuters, the firm’s director, Idrees al-Yassiri, said the plan included drilling more than 15 wells at the Nassiriya oilfield, which would help boost output from the field by 50,000-60,000 bpd. “Our plan for 2011 is ambitious. We have enough energy to accomplish it … The increase in production through the national effort will be more than 200,000 bpd through 2011,” he said in a news conference. The national effort includes drilling new wells in oilfields Iraq is developing on its own, including some of its giant fields like Nassiriya and East Baghdad. Yassiri said the Iraqi Drilling Company would also drill wells for oilfields being developed by global oil companies. “We will drill 23 wells for ENI at the Zubair oilfield and 20 wells for ExxonMobil in West Qurna (Phase One),” he said, adding the company will drill 15 wells as part of a consortium in Majnoon oilfield, which is being developed by Royal Dutch Shell. “Drilling operations for foreign companies will add close to 150,000 barrels per day in 2011,” Yassiri said. The company has also submitted a bid for a tender to drill 23 wells in West Qurna (Phase Two), which is being developed by Russia’s LUKOIL, Yassiri said, adding the development plan for the field included drilling 75 wells in the next two years. Hi any one ever wonder about this if u are iraq and u want to RV with current value US$1 ~ IQD 1170 if i am going to RV tomorrow - today I will surely get rid of all US$/ foreign currency and get back IQD because come tomorrow this currency will drop in value drastically - after tommorow lets say RV US$1 = IQD 1 then i change my IQD to foreign currency Is this not the logical path? are we seeing IRAQ dumping foreign currencies??
