I have been thinking about this since the other day when I was struck in the back while stopped at a stop light by a vehicle traveling about 50-60 mph. I saw the car in the rear view but my mind based on 30+ years of driving was that the driver would start to slow down and stop at some point in time. By the time that your mind is able to compute that the vehicle is not going to stop or in this case even slow down, it is too late. The distance traveled by the car and the time left to react is but a second or two, at that speed you would have to ignore all the past information that you have stored from past driving experience and be expecting that there is a good chance that the vehicle will not stop and crash into you from behind like a 2 ton missile. That is where our country is in my opinion, we are basing our actions on the past experience and history of the country, if the average person does not think that they can be in danger because they do not believe that the government and the state of the union can get into the position where they can be in danger or possibly lose all their freedoms and rights, then they will probably not take an evasive action to correct the situation until it is too late to avoid it. The time for action has already passed, the two ton missile is coming and the best you can do at this time is too brace and prepare for the collision. God willing we will be able to get up after the crash and figure out a way to put the pieces back together. It is human nature to trust and live the way that has worked in the past, but anyone who cannot see the speeding locomotive coming at us needs to take a look down the tracks.
