Iraq and Iran signed on Wednesday a contract for the supply of 25 million cubic meters of gas per day to the province of Basra.

According to the agency [Knight] Iran is scheduled to sign the contract by the Executive Director of the National Iranian Gas Company Hamid Reza Iraqi and Energy Assistant Minister of Iraq.

Under the contract, Iran will undertake the export of gas through the pipeline to Basra pass-through capacity of 25 million cubic meters per day.

As it will be signed on Wednesday, the contract for the supply of Iranian gas to Baghdad extension, under which will raise the volume of gas export to Iraq's power stations such as Al-Mansour from 25 to 35 million cubic meters.

It is said that the gas supply line to the capital Baghdad, which Iranian contractor undertakes to implement it, that may be offered by twice to attack from an al-Qaeda elements and groups of satisfaction, and led to the martyrdom Quadraamlh in the project.

Iran postponed several times to export natural gas to Iraq under a contract between the two countries because of the security situation in some provinces, where it was scheduled to supply this gas to Iraq begins in June.

Iraq and Iran signed an agreement in 2013 under which Tehran to start exporting gas to Iraq to feed the three power stations in Baghdad and Diyala, but two years after the export process did not start.

Iranian gas and will be provided under the agreement Baghdad quantity of export of 4 million cubic meters per day and will increase to 35 million cubic meters per day, while providing Basra 5 million cubic meters per day, a year after the signing of the contract [in 2016] and will increase to 30 million cubic meters per day.

The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has signed on 22 July 2013 of an important contract is the first of its kind with the Iranian Oil Ministry for processing natural gas, for a period of four years, subject to renewal, and at world market prices.

Iraq needs the natural gas to generate electricity. It also opens the door to more international development if there is a reliable cheap source of energy for factories, etc. The key phrase is where it is dependant on iraq providing security against ISIS.

 

This deal should hopefully HELP influence/motivate to get things approved in a positive light for that good ol' HCL!  :peace:

 

But they are bringing gas from Iran to IRaq....

 

It's a start to getting somewhere, I'd say!  :twothumbs:
