NWGUY
Kind of sad, that their security is so poor, that they can't even protect their own officers. This is the same country that thinks they don't need the US to help them. This is the same country, that can't agree amoungst themselves to get their security ministers in place to come up with a game plan to protect Iraq. This is the same country that thinks they need to have vacation in the parliment, while they have all these issues in security going on. I feel sorry for the poor Iraqi people that are stuck in this situation, that live everyday like this. Makes me feel good to be an American!!! We can hope, and pray, that someday these poor Iraqi people will get a government that they deserve!!! Go RV!!!
Spiff
Someone needs to silence those with silencers over there. I wish this type of violence would end. But, know it won't. I couldn't live like this country does every day.

Doc31
Okay, so it wasn't the MoD. You need to read between the lines though ... while there are many factions/sects in Iraq ... there is but one with the funding to accomplish most anything and that is the secret police which belong and are commanded by the PM. His secret jails were just discussed by Amnesty International in their annual report. This is not the first time gunmen arrived in a car and shot a government official using automatic weapons with silencers. Take notice ... it hasn't been the minister of a particular department but the guy just below him. Go back and do the research. Intimidation for control? You tell me? Note this and keep count. Grammiedinar
Just wonder if they finished all the RV requirements, and actually gave their people something they could work with to improve their lives. Would this type of activity stop happening with such frequency or is this just a normal way of life. Either way this is a scary thought that this is a normal day on the home front for so many. Old Constipate
I take it these killings happen outside the green zone. No wonder they are having such a hard time picking security ministers.

Peace Doc31 Very good point Doc. For me this is an issue of trust and the culture Sadam helped develop over generations of Iraqi's. If you show them your back (trust) they may put a knife in you. Also because everyone is so poor they can be easily manipulated by other outside forces (Iran). Look what Maliki did to those Iranian refugees at Camp Ashraf. Appeasing Iran? We expect Iraq to behave in a way they are truly ignorant of and like other muslim nations, they don't enjoy being told how to run their affairs. A lot of the players in Iraq want to be like sadam only understanding to pull each other down like crabs.
