RICK C
WHAT ABOUT THIS= ----------------------------------------------- Abdulmahdi: We will not take part in failed government September 28, 2010 - 03:54:03 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi Vice President and a leading figure of the Iraqi National Alliance (INA), Adel Abdulmahdi, said on Tuesday that his bloc will not take part in a government that will fail, underlining on the importance of al-Iraqiya and Dawlat al-Qanoon’s participation. This came at a press conference he hled after the consultative meeting in the parliament, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency correspondent. “The INA will not take part in a government which will not be approved by all political blocs. The new government will not succeed without the participation of State of Law (Dawlat al-Qanoon) and al-Iraqiya List,” he said. He underlined that he will not attend the National Coalition meeting, because no one invited him to attend it. Differences among political blocs reached their zenith between the main two blocs, al-Iraqiya of former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi and the State of Law of incumbent Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, with the first obtaining 91 out of the new parliament’s 325 seats while the second obtained 89. The State of Law formed a coalition with the Iraqi National Alliance (INA) to garner the largest number of seats in the new parliament. This claim was rejected by al-Iraqiya bloc, which argued that it had been the winner of the largest number of seats in the parliament and that it has the right to form the new government. Iraq’s March 7 nationwide elections had ended with four main Iraqi political blocs obtaining most seats, as Iraqiya won 91 seats, followed by Maliki’s State of Law with 89 seats, Ammar Al-Hakim’s INA with 70 seats and the Kurdistan Alliance of Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barazani and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani as well as a number of Kurdish Islamic parties with 57 seats. cplinedrive
Dont get to excited because even if he did win the national alliance vote he will never get allawi's vote so the battle will still continue. I have been following this new government issue for the past month and I have to agree 100% that Allawi and Maliki will never see 'eye to eye' or agree/compromise on their differences. So, they do have an out for an parlimentry vote don't they? And that was suppose to happen today or tomorrow, if it ever does. I am going to throw this out there for conversation, opinion, analysis, etc. There is an article today regarding an arms deal from the US to Iraq. What chances would we see a 'civil war' in Iraq? Is it likely? Possible? I just don't see any progress for the last month between Allawi, Maliki or Madhi.......I don't see any future with these guys compromising either. Viper..don't take it personal. You should know that you can't please anyone and we truly can't rely on any one person here who posts "rumors". Some come to fruition and others don't and in this case..majority of the rumors haven't. Either way, I wish you well in your investment and whether or not you decide to post here or not is entirely up to you, but life goes on either way. When the dinar RV's we will know it one way or the other. God bless you.

Legolas
It's the same garbage over and over again. For 5 months, it was Maliki and Allawi.......neither of whom could possibly obtain the needed majority vote to win election. Then, in the 11th hour, the I.N.A. threw Mahdi into the mix, further muddying the waters, and increasing the division of votes. It's blatantly obvious that none of the 3 can win without the support of at least one of the other 2, yet they go on and on, repeating the same discussions day after day and getting nowhere. It's pretty clear that Maliki has nothing to lose by holding on to power until everyone gets tired of the fight and gives him the P.M. position. The question is, will they EVER get that tired? One thing is certain......we can believe none of the articles until an official announcement is made. 1
