Our national team won the title of the Arabian Gulf Cup for the fourth time in the history of the tournament, after an exciting match that took place at the Palm Trunk Stadium in Basra, which hosted the tournament in its 25th edition, the final match took place between our national team and its Omani counterpart.

The match witnessed the progress of our national team over its Omani counterpart with a goal in the first half signed by Ibrahim Baish, so that the Omani team returned to equalize in the last minute of the second half with a penalty kick, and then our national The team returned to advance in the second extra half through a penalty kick, then the Omani team returned to equalize again.

But our national team returned to add the third goal in the same half to write its deserved victory and win the championship title.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mr. Mustafa Ghaleb Makhif, congratulated the Iraqi and Omani peoples on the resounding success of the Gulf Football Championship, which was reflected in the organization of the tournament in its twenty-fifth edition, which was hosted by Basra on its land and in the hearts of its people. He congratulated the Iraqi national team for winning the first place, and the victory of the Omani heroes in second place, thanking everyone who contributed to the success of this great Arab wedding.
I hope that this great Arab festival will be a good omen for Iraq and Iraqis, and for Arabs in general.

Today, Thursday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani crowned our national team with the Gulf 25 Championship Cup, which was held in Basra Governorate.

The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by Baghdad Today that "under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, the closing ceremony of the Gulf 25 Championship, hosted by Iraq, was held today at the Palm Trunk International Stadium and Al-Mina Stadium in Basra Governorate for the period from 6-19 January.”

Al-Sudani saluted the Gulf teams participating in the tournament, and also congratulated the sports fans inside the stadium and in all cities of Iraq, who supported the tournament and were the best support for its success and reflected the good image of Iraq and its people," he said.

And he added, “The Prime Minister, the President of the Gulf Football Association, and the presidents of the Iraqi and Omani Football Associations, the gold medals to the players of the Iraqi national team that won the Basra Gulf Championship 25, and the silver medals to the Omani team, the runner-up of the tournament. In conclusion, the president crowned our national team with the 25th Basra Gulf Championship Cup.

Today, Thursday, the Iraqi national team finished the final match, defeating its Omani counterpart by 3 goals to two, to be crowned the Gulf Champion, in the 25th edition of the Gulf Cup, 35 years after the last title achieved by Iraq.

The Iraqi national team player, Ayman Hussein, won the 25th Gulf Championship top scorer award, while Ibrahim Baish won the best player award in the tournament.
